I saw this one back when it was released , truly an underrated classic in my opinion. Del Toro was very hands on in the making of this and it shows. Even though the actors aren't the greatest they make do with what they can. What really makes it stand out is the vibe of the whole thing. Def one you can have in the background on halloween. As for the HDR it's perfect, the colors really pop and it makes you feel like it's halloween time. Highly recommend.

Not a true horror movie but does have some scary moments. Based off the book of the same name the movie lifts some of more rememberable short stories from the book and manages to weave them through a cohesive movie plot. The movie does a great job at taking the terrifying images that made the book and bringing them to life on screen. A good movie that should scare a new young audience while the audience that grew up with the books can watch and enjoy for what it’s worth.

I was a bit disappointed in the movie. The scares were not what they should have been. An ok movie for a teenager, but lacks any real jumps or frights.

Wow...much like the books scared the daylights out of me when I was a kid, this movie scared me as an adult. I was expecting the kids to live through this with stupid life lessons, but this is not the case. This is a horror movie without the blood, which is great for all ages to enjoy! The monsters are NOT CGI but real, which makes this even better! Further, this movie reflects on both past and present life situations (history repeats itself)! Buy it and enjoy!

My family and friends love this movie. It's not the traditional horror flick and is entertaining for a variety of viewer ages. The movie was fresh and thrilling since it consists of scary stories none of us ever heard about before. It's well written and performed by the cast. The ending leaves it open for the possibility of a sequel, which we would be thrilled to see where the story goes after this movie.

I’m a big Guillermo del Toro fan but as he’s mainly a producer here it was never going To be the same as one of his original movies.

this movie did not live up to anything like what I thought it would, considering that it is associated to guiermo del torsos' name.

I had seen this in the theater and thought it was enjoyable. I didn't remember much about it so decided to get it on sale on blu-ray/digital. I hadn't read the stories before seeing the movie, which may be why it doesn't resonate as strongly with me. It's well done and has some fun moments, but it'll never quite become the Halloween staple for me that Trick 'r Treat has become.

This movie was a fun horror ride, if a bit silly at times, due to the source material. Anyone who read the book series as a kid should watch it just to see some of those stories come to life. The only thing I didn't enjoy was the fact that this release is letterboxed only, on both the Blu-Ray and the UHD disc. Otherwise, it's a solid package.

I bought this without knowing anything about the movie other than it was produced by one of my favorite directors, Guillermo Del Toro. I'm glad I took the risk. This film is Fun! Scary-ish, but not to the point of needing to hide it from the kiddies, lol. (Well, depends on your household, I s'pose). Very good cast, well directed, and funny at times. Well worth watching.

A descent “teen” horror movie. Wish they would have gone with R rated material. It’s not terrible, just felt lacking to me.

Visuals were fantastic with the 4K UHD and Dolby Vision. This is a fun scary story your tween and up kids can enjoy over and over. A little disappointed that it didn’t have the full Atmos track though, but that won’t matter for many. The price was decent since I picked it up on sale, and it includes a digital version along with the HD Blu-ray.

If you have ever read the books this movie is in many ways directed as a love letter to you. A handful of the most popular stories are put into an interesting overarching narrative in small town USA. While I was disappointed with the ending and other elements of the plot overall this is a good introduction to horror movies for a tween or early teen.

I watched this with my brothers and his family. His wife and kids haven't seen it, and I had bought the movie, so we put on some poopcorns and pizza! And they enjoyed the stories in the movie as well as how each character of the movie was made. The monsters I mean. Not a scary movie, and it's ironic coming from the title of the movie lol. But it was nonetheless a great movie to watch and enjoy.

It's a great scary movie especially the first part of the movie. I wished the director would of emphasized more on the first part of the movie which includes the scarecrow part which was one of the scariest part of the movie. The story part is a great part of the movie which makes it a scary movie.

Bought this and watched it with my grandson. He enjoyed it and it's ok for teens to watch. I thought it was ok.
