The movie stays true to the book series. I read the books growing up and it gave me nightmares. Del Toro also used Alvin Schwartz's illustrations as inspiration for the characters used in the movie. Highly recommend watching and purchasing this movie if your a fan of the book.

I was excited when I heard Guillermo del Toro was going to make a movie based on the Scary Stories book series from the 90's. The creepy imagery in the books perfectly match his film making creativity. However, this movie falls flat of achieving the creepy, unsettling tone of the books (besides the scarecrow segment, which would have been great as a short film). It also does not explain any of the monsters origins or why the kids fear them, besides basic exposition of a sentence or two. And at the end, it attempts to set itself up for a sequel with an underwhelming "drive off into the horizon" shot filled with bad humor from the ragtag band of heroes on a new adventure to restore their friends. Worth a rental at best or if you're just bored in quarantine.

Scary stories that become all too real for a group naive teens that happen upon the creepy mansion which much history to be told. Famous Bellows Mansion holds dark secrets that become all too real. Sarah's tortured past makes the stories take on a life of there own.

Despite the ending which moves the movie from horror to fantasy the story is scary and the scenes are well done with plenty terror and solid special affects. The ending must have been done to set up a sequel. As a horror movie enthusiast, I recommend this movie.

My daughter likes scary movies (to a certain degree). After seeing the trailer for this, she wanted to see it in the theatre, so I took her. She loved it and asked that we buy it on disc as soon as it was available, which we did. Perfect Popcorn and Movie Night flick

I loved reading these stories as a kid. Not only were the stories full of nightmare fuel, the images that accompanied them were equally as terrifying. The creators involved with this movie really did a solid job of translating the horror from those pages to the big screen.

It's nice to see horror movies you can watch with kids. This does feel very much like a kid's movie but unlike Goosebumps it actually feels like a horror movie as well rather than a family film. nothing wrong with either just this movie holds to it source material better.

This movie's stories to "ME" seem to be adaptions of other versions of the story line (which may have come from the books). The Scarecrow plot I've seen I believe in 2 other shows/movies. I did however really enjoy the campfire horror story line.

Looks like a good Halloween Scary Movie to watch with your Friends! I'm looking forward to seeing it on October 31st of 2021.... I'm sure it will be an Gruesome Haunting Adventure over the course of watching the movie Terror.

Grew up reading the books as a child in the 1990's. Del Toro was the right choice for this film. Movie has a great deal of family safe spooky moments. If you have read the book series with the original illustrations, you want to expect.

I thought they did a pretty good job bringing some of the classic stories into this. They brought the classic stories to the screen very well. Some of the scenes were creepy, and have a lot of good build up. Some of the creatures are fantastic looking

A great horror movie to watch with friends. This movie has many great aspects to it, it has several types of horror, from jumpscares to suspenseful chases. There’s pieces of supernatural/ghost aspects added to it as well. It’s a fun ride.

they should have read the book and then checked the facts but not take a book that was not yours. it is a really good story and keeps you interested all the way through. i have watched it 3 times and am adding to my collection, a very good purchase.

Steelbook collectors typically appreciate the nicer packaging with exclusive artwork. A shrewd seller may buy this to sell at a profit since this movie was rather obscure. No additional content over the standard version but you're into aesthetics...

Great movie! Enjoyed it! I watched this movie when it came out in the movie theater and waited for it to come out in blu ray. Bought it and then I watched it a few times. I let someone borrow it and they kept it because it was that good!

I remember read this original book when I was child and scary the hell out of me especially that pale fat woman and red spot. The movie version is not scary for adults but this a one hell of fun ride and very entertaining film.
