Save your reciepts!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is the second hard drive installed in my laptop in 1 year. The first one failed, now on number 2. Save the box and receipts or it will be up to you to get a refund from the manufacturer, no matter if Best Buy installed it or not. Just a FYI.

Failed right out of the box
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. In my experience as a Computer Technician I have seen far more Seagate hard drives fail than Western Digital drives. For this reason I almost never purchase Seagate drives. The only reason I purchased this one is because the store was out of WD drives and I needed one for a client that day. Never again...they just don't hold a candle to Western Digital Drives. I'd love to see Best Buy drop them entirely...

Great drive!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My 500Gb hard drive was nearly full and causing the laptop to slow down dramatically. This drive couldn't have been easier to install, with the link cable the Best Buy rep recommended. Took about 3 hours to clone the drive (just left it on overnight), no errors. Then simply took out the old drive and put in the new and it was off and running. No partitioning, no formatting, just lots of room to stretch! Laptop runs like it's brand new again! Now the spouse wants one, too!

Hard drive
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Whether you are upgrading or replacing a failed hard drive, this is a great product. They are very easy to install yourself and I have never had a failure of any of my Seagate hard drives. I bought this for an upgrade and it was well worth the money to get the extended storage on my MacBook.

Mac OS? Watch out.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Replacing an internal hard drive on a Mac is not necessarily an easy process. I have a MacBook Pro and I was running OS 10.6.8 when I decided to replace the internal hard drive (which was 250 GB) with a Seagate Momentus 1 TB SATA. Since the Seagate is pre-formatted for Windows it would require reformatting the HD right from the gate. In other words, the new internal HD could not be functional because it had a default format that would not work in the Mac, so the Mac had to boot up from an external source drive. Problem: in all the multiple incremental system upgrades I was left without a compatible boot disk. A compatible boot disk could be created but only with Mountain Lion (OS 10.8.4) which would allow me to create a Boot disk on a USB Flash Drive, also referred to as a Recovery HD, which meant upgrading my system as the first step. Downloading the OS upgrade took 2 hours. Creating the Recovery HD on a USB flash drive required another download. Then, replacing the actual internal hard drive was a short simple process which required a 00 Phillips head screwdriver for the chassis and a tiny Hex one for the four internal support screws. I booted the Mac with the USB flash drive inserted and launched Disc Utilities which allowed me to reformat the internal drive. Then I had to install the system on the Mac, which again required another download. And finally run TimeMachine to restore my data. Bottom line: The whole process took about four+ hours. It wasn't a walk in the park but the Seagate is working great. Hope this helps anything thinking of doing it.

Way Better than WD for MacBook Pro
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought one based on the reviews and the price for a 1TB drive. This was after I returned an out of the box defective WD 1TB drive. It was very easy to install, fast response time, and the price was great. The HD is so quiet that I had to hold up my laptop to see if it was even working when I was installing a program. WD used to be the best in my opinion. After this experience, I highly recommend Seagate for HD needs. The related product I have attached was the defective drive that I returned to BB. I highly recommend staying away from the WD and buying the Seagate.

Great product
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Had problems downloading Windows 10 to my laptop. Purchased the 1TB hard drive to update my Dell laptop. It was easy to install and I had no problems downloading Windows 10 afterwards. System seems to run faster and now I have more space to store photos and videos.

Great for PS3 HDD upgrade
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought to upgrade my PS3 HDD and it works perfectly fine, I have the first PS3 60GB. Now I can store a lot, play a lot of games and not to worry about running out of space. Before installing make sure to backup your old files if you want to transfer them to your new HDD. I used my old external hard drive which has 250 GB on it to backup my old files. But to do that you need to make sure the external hard drive is formatted to FAT32 because PS3 won't recognize the hard drive unless its formatted to FAT32 and since I have an apple computer formatting to FAT32 work so fine, no need for those 3rd party conversion software. SO now I have my old files and it saves me a lot, instead of buying a new PS3 system which max is only 320GB.

Working fine in PS4
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought to upgrade PS4 to larger capacity. Working fine and was an easy installation. Games seem to load quickly enough, especially compared to the previous generation. Most of the 1 TB drives are 5400 rpm for lower power usage and heat generation. Only a few 1.5 TB drives available and practically no 2 TB at this time. Considered the HGST 7200 rpm 1 TB, but settled on this. Either would probably work fine as the data sheets indicate near identical power usage and heat dissipation. Doubt there is much performance gain from the rpm difference and I think the 5400 rpm is likely to be more reliable in the long run. Large SSD drives are just too expensive to justify the speed increase.

Excellent Hard Drive
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I needed to replace my Western Digital hard drive that crashed on my Dell laptop. Wasn't sure if I should switch manufacturers but a friend suggested that I give Seagate a try, and I'm glad I did. It works wonderful, better than before.

PS3 COMPATIBLE, A MUST HAVE!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this drive for my PS3. I was worried that my PS3 might not recognize the full capacity of the HDD, only 3/4, between 500 and 750 GB, as I read online that sometimes that happens. I decided to take a gamble, after all the HDD was only $99, and if it did not work I could always return it. DID THAT GAMBLE PAY OFF!! My PS3 SLIM and PS3 FAT (Original backwards compatible with PS1 and PS2 games) accepted the HDD's full capacity. I have 937GB of free space to use; 63GB was used to install the PS3's OS. So, if you have a PS3 that needs a HDD upgrade GET THIS DRIVE!! If you've seen on YouTube any of the videos on how to upgrade the HDD then let me tell you it is really as easy as it looks, just remember use the proper size phillips head (+) screwdriver otherwise you may strip the screw if you force it.
