Great drive for the price

Overall, I really like this drive. I replaced a 500GB 7200 RPM internal disk drive with this one. It was easy to install and didn't require any configuration changes. Keeping within a budget, this drive was perfect. I was about to buy a normal 5200 1TB drive until I found this at Best Buy. A fully solid-state drive would be nicer, but it would be considerable more expensive. I don't think you would be disappointed with this drive.

Perfect upgrade for PS4

I bought this along with my PS4 to upgrade it's storage from 500GB to 1TB, and an SSHD is the perfect kind of drive you'll want for your system. Seriously, spending more money on an SSD won't really make much of a difference on your PS4, so getting a hybrid drive should do just fine and their price is comparable to that of a standard HDD.

Even if you don know about computers probably by this time you have hear about Solid State Drives (SSD) and their super speed, and also about the down side too, price & size. So a hybrid Hard drive or SSHD is a standard Hard Drive with a flash or Solid memory inside, so you will get same or similar speed of a regular SSD but more space w/o paying 100.00 +. In this case a 1tb SSHD for my new laptop to replace a 5400 rpm 1TB. That was the only down side from it, the boot time (Drop from 20 sec to 6 secs)

Faster than conventional

I've become a big fan of solid state drives, especially as the price has come down on them. If I have a system that doesn't require a whole lot of capacity (say around 240 GB or less), go for a pure Solid State Hard Drive. But if you need more, this 1 TB hybrid is a great compromise. It's fast. Not as fast a SSHD, but faster than a conventional spinning disk. Althought he price is a bit higher than a conventional drive of the same capacity, the extra speed makes it worthwhile.

Purchased this to upgrade an existing 500 GB system. A little thicker than the original drive, but still fit in my system with a little room to spare. Wasn't a big improvement in speed at first, but smart buffering technology stores frequently accessed data on SSD drive, so after a few weeks I noticed considerably quicker booting. Just to be sure, I swapped the drive out for the original, and booting was clearly faster with the hybrid.
I was hoping for a significant improvement in battery life, but there wasn't any improvement. The laptop ran quieter and seemed cooler, but nothing like a dedicated SSD, as would be expected.
If you're thinking of expanding/upgrading a smaller SATA drive, and want a bit better performance especially with booting and static data access, this may be the drive for you. Just check your existing drive height and the available room to be sure this drive will fit.

Excellent Life Extender for old Laptop

We have two "old" (2008) MacBook laptops in the office and both of them were becoming sluggish. After looking at the price of complete replacements, I decided to try maxing out one of the laptops to see if that could extend their useful lifespan for less money.
The first step was to max out the RAM. If you have to choose a single upgrade, ALWAYS choose more RAM. But, if you can afford RAM and an updated hard drive (or you've already maxed out the RAM), a hybrid drive like this is the way to go.
By Hybrid, I mean that this is part FlashDrive and part old-school platter-based hard drive. The FlashDrive part (like the USB FlashDrive on your key chain, but faster) holds the most commonly accessed files on your computer, while the platters are used to store less-often used files.
Since the most commonly used files on any given computer are usually Operating System files, this usually leads to a big speed bump for your computer. Especially when starting up.
For the first laptop I installed this in, the boot time went from 2 minutes to about 30 seconds. The rest of the speed increases weren't quite as dramatic, but they were noticeable. I was so pleased with the results, I did the same upgrades to the other laptop, with similar results.
It also doesn't hurt that, at 1TB of available space, this provides a LOT more space (about 4 times more in the case of my old MacBooks) than most standard laptop drives. That additional space means more "leg room" for programs like Photoshop that need a lot of space for the storage of temporary files.

Very good replacement but beware of BB mistakes

This replacement hard drive works fine in my Mac book thus the 5 stars.
Used by a college sophomore.
Had to replace the hard drive on my son's Mac book that was just 13 months old, which I wasn't too happy about especially when I found out from BB that I wasn't covered with the protection plan I thought I had purchased. I bought this computer, an external hard drive back-up for this computer and an Insigna TV 32" all at the same time. Bought all of this at tax free time of the year and TV was on sale.
Didn't look at my receipt at time of purchase so I didn't catch the mix up the cashier made.
She put the protection plan on a TV that cost less than $170.00 and not the $1100.00 computer.
So I learned the hard way, since Geek Squad personnel didn't see the logic, always check your receipt.
I spent $190.00 for a hard drive replacement and bought a protection plan on a cheap TV, which by the way works great.

this is the second time that I bought one of these hard drives. The first one I put into an external case for editing videos. I was amazed at the speed that it can process the information and had no lag working with Adobe Premiere. I like to so much that I bought a second one to put into my MacBook. One of my MacBook for the price was extremely easy to install and set up with great startup speeds.

I was unsure how well this would work to improve my system performance and increase my storage from 500 to 1 TB. It worked so well I installed a second one in a co-workers laptop. There is a slight increase in start up speed and most used applications. Not exactly compared to a full flash drive but I needed the larger storage at a reasonable price was willing to try. Very happy.

Noticeable Performance Boost

This drive is basically a drop-in replacement for a conventional hard drive. That is, it will fit anyplace where a 2.5" hard drive fits, and will work in any computer that already uses a conventional hard drive. Of course, unless you're refurbishing a computer whose hard drive has failed, you'll need a way to copy your system from your old hard drive to your new hybrid drive. But you will not need to install any special drivers or software, and your operating system will see the hybrid drive as a regular hard drive.
The magic all takes place inside the hybrid drive, where special firmware uses the flash memory as an extra-large cache for the most-often requested files from the conventional part of the hard drive. This provides a performance boost of 15-20% over a conventional hard drive with a more typical 32-64MB cache. You won't get the lightning-fast starts and program launches that a pure Solid State Drive provides, but the hybrid drive provides enough of a boost to justify the additional cost.

I have been using this drive for over a month continuously. Drive runs very quiet and instantly boots up and shuts down (3 seconds). The fact this is 1 TB is even better. Highly recommend this for purchase. Runs faster and cooler than HP drive I replaced.

I wanted to upgrade to a full SSD hard drive, but it was too expensive to get the 1 TB capacity I needed. I tried this hybrid drive instead. It is quite faster than a standard hard drive, although now quite as quick as an SSD. The drive is great though. No need to setup or install anything to take advantage of the hybrid features, it does it all in the background.

I went with the HSSD because I was waiting on another SSD, and one of the HDD crashed. I used this as a replacement and it worked better than expected. I would have gotten a bigger size but was expecting to be let down, but is working almost equally as fast as my SSD. but a quarter of the price.

This drive was purchased as a replacement for a dead hard drive in a laptop. I wanted to get an SSD drive, however I needed over 300 GB of space and didn't want to pay hundreds of dollars for the drive.
This drive is definitely step up from a regular hard drive in terms of speed, but it is not nearly as fast as a full SSD drive (I have another computer equipped with one). Think about it this way. Your old drive is a big car, spacious, comfortable, but slow. An SSD is a super tuned sports car, extremely fast but with not much space in it. This drive is somewhere between, a 4-door sedan with a V6. Fairly spacious, fairly quick, a product of needing some of one and some of another. A compromise.
My everyday computer has an SSD, and this drive does not come close to the overall speed I see from that drive. However, with this drive installed I no longer wince so much from the drop in speed. Apps open noticeably quicker, and it cut the boot time at least in half.
So a moderately fast drive with decent speed. Just don't believe the hype on the box when it tells you "SSD speeds!".

Bought this to replace my 5K RPM HD for MacBook Pro. Easy installation and transfer of data. Nice to have a quick boot and file access, but this is not a SSD. A good compromise. I trust Seagate's quality and technology. I'd recommend this to anyone wanting a nice size HD at a great value.

This was the first Hybrid drive I used to replace a regular laptop drive. it is a lot faster and programs seem to open faster. it is not as fast as my SSID drives but close to one. And for the amount of storage on it (i TB) I probably have to spend $500 for an SSID drive.

My laptop started giving me failure messages for my 500Gb drive.
I got this because it was a good price and offered twice the storage, plus had the SSD portion to speed it up.
I put it in with no problems, it fit exactly where the other drive had been. I feel reinstalling the OS was faster than usual and I have really had no issues with it.
I've left the machine running for a month without a reboot (it sits on my desk) and the drive has performed perfectly. It is snappy, although the true test of an SSD is on shutdown and reboot (at least in terms of most noticeable performance increase or problem)

This drive is my first hybrid drive and the performance of it is incredible. It is a happy medium for not having to sacrifice storage for speed like most of the SSD drives. The load times of my laptop have increased noticeably with this drive in it now.

A great balance of cost & performance. If you can afford a 1TB SSD, by all means, get that. If you can't, but still want the speed, this is a great option.
I threw mine into an external USB3 enclosure, and it's great as a long-term storage drive!
