Customers express satisfaction with the 2TB Seagate hard drive's performance, large storage capacity, ease of use, and competitive price. Many also found installation straightforward and the drive to be quiet. While some experienced issues with the warranty and the lack of included SATA cables and mounting screws, these concerns were less frequently reported than positive feedback.

The device does what I need it to do. I like the fact that you can assign different users and give them permissions to different folders. It does what I need it to do. I think I'll be using this device for quite some time.

We put this in our mac after our 1 TB hard drive crashed. It's only been about a month, but so far, it's been functioning just fine. I'd recommend this hard drive, but I haven't had it very long so we'll have to wait and see how it does long-term.

I had my original 2 Gig Hard Drive failed on my 3 yr old Dell Desktop. This drive was the answer to having to replace a good working computer. The warranty is one of the best in the industry and Best Buy had the right answers and the right time.

When my hard drive indicated that it was failing, I ordered this one. It arrived very quickly and was exactly as advertised. The download software was very easy to use and transferred all my files and The operating system completely and safely.

I am very happy with my hard drive. I have plenty of storage room and the unit was pretty easy to install. While being fairly fast, I had hoped it would perform certain functions quicker. As long as it does not crash I am a very pleased customer!

First drive I purchased was DOA so I took it back to Best Buy for an exchange. I installed the newly exchanged drive without any issues. Works greats for my purpose, secondary HDD. If you are looking for speed you need to look into a SSD, but this HDD is average for most non-SSD's.

The hard drive went in great I got windows on it and everything went great except for windows only partitioned one tb of space. It's mild annoyance that I will ignore until I need more than 1. Which will be some time around never.

Excellent storage for excellent price

It's a hard drive, there's not much to really say. The price spike from the Thai flood has mostly tapered off so buying HDDs is a viable option again. The amounts of storage still tend to humble me (yes, I'm one of those for whom a 10MB drive the size of a box of Kleenex for $150 was a steal of a deal, a drive I would never fill up... but then back in those days, programs were measured in KB, not 100's of MB). This is a nice mid-speed 7200rpm drive (not one of those wee*** 5900 or lower rpm 'green' things).
Installation is a breeze but don't bother using the included Seagate Disc Wizard CD for installing the unit; XP and higher will recognize the drive and install whatever is required. However, the SG Disc Wizard does contain some very useful backup, restoration and cloning tools which are keepers. The only drawback to the tools (at least the cloning) is that at least one of the HDDs must be either a Seagate or a Maxtor drive.
SATA data cable, 4-pin Molex to SATA power cable adaptor, and mounting hardware is included.
The drive is quiet, runs relatively cool, writes data, reads data, c'mon folks not much to praise or gripe about....
...except Seagate's corporate policy on warranty. Personally, one of the reasons I've almost always bought Seagate drives is their reliability which has in the past been backed up by one of the longer warranty durations in the industry (five years). Other manufacturers tend toward the two or even one year warranty which, to me, is an indication of the degree of trust they have in their products.
However, recently Seagate has apparently joined the masses and lowered their warranty period (at least on this drive) to one year. It says so on the box which I didn't notice until I got home. The real problem was that I distinctly remembered reading the blurb tag at the store and it clearly said five years. Furthermore, if you check the Specifications tab on the BB page for this drive, it also says five years.
So I went back to my friendly BB store, first took pictures of the sales blurb tag which said five years, then went to the customer service counter to ask about this apparent discrepancy. The person behind the counter looked it up on his computer and told me unequivocally that the drive was covered for five years; he even turned the monitor around so I could see it, sure enough five years.
Still, it makes me wonder why Seagate has changed their corporate policy on warranty period from five to two or one years. Just because other manufacturers are doing it doesn't mean that everyone should do it. See lemmings (which btw is largely but not entirely an old wive's tale).
But enough politics. Need more storage? Buy this drive. Better yet, wait for it to be on sale for an even more ridiculously low price.
Final note: When reviewing, don't use the word wee*** which sounds like teeny. The BB censors will come after you :)

I bought the drive to connect to an external docking station and archive data. The drive works well and stays interfaced with my computer. It also allowed file transfers >100 MBps when using USB 3.0.

I always buy Seagates, this one is a simple long term storage drive I'm using for videos and pictures, so speed is not the biggest feature I need. Seagates have always been the best drives for me.

I'm more and more impressed with QNAP the more I play with this. A lot of supporting apps and don't forget to install the unofficial app store. I use this NAS mainly for a Plex media server.

I primarily use these in camera security DVR's seem to hold up better than the other ones that I normally have used in the past. These DVR'S run 24 hours a day seven days a week and are real hard on hard drives.

It spins, it works. Now ask me a year or two from now if it still works. That is the reviews that Best Buy should implement. I want to know how reliable a product is years down the road.

I had lost a 500GB hard drive and needed a quick, and affordable replacement. Hooked this drive to my PC, split into 2 partitions, made a quick format and I was ready to go. The transfer speed on this is great!
