Customers are saying

Customers express satisfaction with the 2TB Seagate hard drive's performance, large storage capacity, ease of use, and competitive price. Many also found installation straightforward and the drive to be quiet. While some experienced issues with the warranty and the lack of included SATA cables and mounting screws, these concerns were less frequently reported than positive feedback.

Don't buy if you need to create images under Win7

Bought this specifically with the purpose of creating images of user machines for both in-house and client forensic (non-litigation) purposes, came to discover that Win7 Imaging software doesn't support 4096-byte sector size, and you can't format drive for smaller sector size under Win7. If you need if for basic file copying, go for it. If you need it in your IT world for imaging, move on to another product.

it's NOT the 5 year warranty the web showed

wow, i am always sticking up for best buy but as of today, i think i may be joining the haters. the web showed 5 year warranty on these. that was the key feature. i went to pick up the 3 drives. the outside of the box said 1 year warranty. i told the girl at the store pickup desk i didn't want them. i hadn't signed anything yet. she said i had to take them for 24 hours and could come back to return them after that period. what a waste of her time, my time and best buy's money. she said that they probably had a 5 year warranty listed inside the box. so... since i had to take the stinkin things home anyway, i opened them up. nope. one year. so now they can't be sold as new and everybody loses.

This drive DOES NOT have a 5 year warranty!

    Posted .

Saw this great price for a 2TB Seagate at Best Buy and ran to pick one up, based on positive reviews from the web. The Best Buy web site states that this drive has a 5 year limited warranty. However, the actual Seagate warranty is only 1 year. This puts this into the cheap, unreliable drive catagory as far as I am concerned. If you sniff around a bit, you can still find Seagate drives out there with a 5 year warranty. It's work the look, as Seagate is exception at replacing drives quickly for their customers that have issues...

    Only lasted two days

I purchased this drive for my PS4 via Nyko Data Bank. Within two days the motor would no longer spin up. I moved it to my PC just to be completely sure and confirmed that the issue was likely the drive itself. I bought it because a comparable WD drive was not in stock. I guess I should have waited. The WD is back in stock, and now I'm buying it anyway.

This drive crashed several times within six months of purchase, finally dying prior to 1 year of purchase. Warranty was not honored on this drive. Will never purchase another Seagate drive.

    Failed after 9 months!

What else is there to say? This was a replacement for a 3-year-old 1TB drive that failed; I had hoped this would last longer than a few months.

    Description is incorrect

Product description says includes "Mounting screws, Interface cable, power adapter, software CD-ROM..." But product does not. We pulled every box off the shelf at my local store. Purchased this product because it contained everything I needed to use it today, but was unable. Wasted time. Please update the product description.

Drive is fine, but be aware of the warranty

Be aware, the Best Buy website lists this drive as having a 5 year warranty, but when I picked it up "1 year" was printed on the box and on the warranty card inside the box. Seagate will only honor 1 year of warranty.

Don't run Windows on this thing

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I don't know what's up with this drive. This is my 2nd one from Best Buy, both do the same thing. It runs fine for days, then just stops delivering data! I'm running Windows 7 on it; every once in awhile this hard drive just stops. Sometimes the drive-busy light is on, sometimes it's off. Windows keeps running until it just can't do anything more without data from the drive, then freezes entirely. I can't shutdown gracefully, I have to hit reset or do a hard power off. My Windows is gradually getting corrupted with all the hard shutdowns. I have no choice but to switch to another mfg.'s drive before my Windows is totally corrupted. I've been using nothing but Maxtor, then Seagate, drives for the last 20 years, but this is utterly unacceptable, I don't want another. If I return this on warranty, Seagate, will you please send me a WD drive? I will not take another of these drives.

couldn't get the drive to load

Wasn't able to format or load the drive.finally shorted the drive trying different ways to hook it up(this was my fault). So I'm out the price of the drive.Since I shorted the drive and fried it I haven't asked for a refund. I learned something from this tho.I will buy another hard drive from Best Buy but will be the exact same drive that came with the computer. The installation instructions didn't work. Went online to get ideas on how to make it work. Might have been on to something but don't know since I fried the hard drive. I don't hold this against Best Buy. Don't want another seagate hard drive tho.

    1-Year warranty, NOT 5-year, Unreliable

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

These are all the new 1-year warranty drives, NOT the 5-year warranty drives as the website claims. Not that a warranty means anything when you lose all your data, but the 5-year ones were MUCH more reliable. I wouldn't trust these for anything. Make sure if you buy one and the info online says 5-years, that the box says 5-years. Right on the top of the box it will be labelled. All the ones shipped now are not even the 3-year warranty drives, they say "1-year limited warranty." Run like the wind if they do!

    Died after 1 day

I installed this drive and copied the contents of my old drive to it. Worked great to start with. The next morning when I had to restart my PC due to uninstalling some SW, it would not boot up. Came up in a Windows recovery mode, trying to fix itself. That did not work and then every time I tried to boot the PC, it would reboot itself at the Windows 7 splash screen. Reinstalled the old drive and everything has been fine since.

    Died within a month

I bought one of these drives to replace an older drive, and it died within a month. Suddenly one day, my PC just wouldn't recognize it. I'm not sure if this was just a bad drive or if these Seagate drives are unreliable.
