I needed additional space and portability to share files with associates and friends alike. This little wonder has tons of space, is inter operable with mac and PC, and is a snap to use. I would definitely purchase another one without hesitation. Super quiet too!

I've used this Seagate external hard drive for a year and am very happy with it. I partitioned it into two drives. One drive is for Time Machine backups on my Macbook and the other is to store files that I share with my desktop that uses a Windows operating system.

I love it! I was hesitate to buy at first, but after reading many reviews from other buyers, i decided to buy this. It's small and looks very compatible with my MacPro. It's very fast when transferred over things from my mac to this hard drive. I would recommend.

I/we have at least 4 of these they are for different purposes including using as a back up for files on my computer. My bf uses his to record movies through his satellite receivers they all work great!

This external hard drive is fast, extremely compact and easy to use just plug it in and use it. If you have an Xbox One and are planning on extending your storage capacity to fit more games then this hard drive makes for a perfect addition to your Xbox One.

Was very happy with this drive, once I figured out how to format it to Fat32 for use as a backup for my ps3 / ps4, has plenty of space a great back up drive

I picked this hard drive after a lot of searching, scanning through reviews and comparing models. I was torn between picking a 500 GB or a 1 TB hard drive. I was looking at some WD drives and this one. I needed a drive for just routine backups. I have over 100 GB in Dropbox, but using it exclusively for all my backup is not very convenient. It takes very long to upload and not absolutely everything can fit in it. The point is that I didn't need a hard drive to lug around a large media library with me. I mostly stream stuff and I have a rather large drive in my notebook anyways. This is why 500 GB would work for me and I didn't desperately need a terabyte of space. While some other drives had double the space for just a few more dollars, I went with this one because of its size and weight. This thing is slim and looks very decent. Taken out of the rather easy-to-open packaging, this device was not that special looking. It doesn't have cool colors, designs or accents. It's a rather plain device with a silver metal top and a black plastic bottom. The top will match your Mac. The drive overall feels very good when held. The bottom may be plastic, but it doesn't feel like a flimsy thing despite the very light weight. It comes with a very small, but just long enough USB cable. You could put both into a pocket and not notice. It's that slim. It comes with a 2 year warranty, while some drives come with longer warranties, but I don't worry too much about that because I will not be storing sensitive data on it. The USB 3.0 transfer rates are fast enough. I was able to copy my entire iPhoto library file (about 15 GB) in a matter of 10 minutes or so. Same with my 10 GB iTunes folder. It comes with some software that allow you to upload to Facebook and whatnot, but I decided I didn't need it and I was able to wipe it all easily (it's downloadable on the Seagate website). I am very happy with the purchase overall.

I previously owned a large hard drive and switching over to this slim drive has been such a relief! It is easy to use and reliable. One of the best parts is that I can use it for my Mac and for a PC.

This is a great product. Small in size and big in memory. Just plug it in and your good to go. It is compatible for mac or pc, and it comes with the USB cord too.

I was looking for an alternative to the multitude of DVD's. Needed something roomy, portable and separate to back up all of my desktop computer files. Not only does it reduce the number of DVD's I burn through - the file transfer is quick and easy.

I like the small size and how easy the device is to use. I got it to store files from my old computer that I don't necessarily need on the new one but don't want to get rid of yet. This did the job. It was recommended by the sales person at Best Buy.

This is my second Seagate Backup Plus portable drive & is a bit smaller than the 1st. I like the speed of the USB 3 & so far both have been 100% reliable. I use this as backup storage for my photos & videos but don't use automatic backup software.

I really wanted this product. I had used Seagate external hard drive before and was satisfied with it. I am sure for the bigger memory capacity I will be able to store/back all of my files. I just hope this one will be just as reliable as my old one.

Needed to free up some space on my hard drive and picked this up to move over a bunch of music and videos. Was a quick plug and play install and then just drop and drag folders to be copied over. Not sure if there is anything that would set this apart from other external drives, but I am happy with how it performs for the price. Doesn't look half bad either.

I use this device to back up my laptop regularly. It is super easy to use; and it is very compact. Because it works so well, and is so user-friendly, I now back up my computer weekly. I am delighted with this device; and I gladly would buy it again!!

I needed to send a big chunk of footage across the US, and this drive worked just fine. It's a small form factor and the writing speeds were adequate. Not sure how reliable the drive would be long term, but I'll update any findings as they come. So far, I would recommend this drive as a cheap solution in a compact size for some reasonable storage space.

I have a 500 GB on one lap top and bought this 1TB for my wife's new lap top. I have had no problems with either one and they are very simple to set up. I got these 2 drives at different times but they were on sale. Fantastic drives and very slim.
