This review is for the seagate backup plus 1TB portable hard drive. The pros: It was cheap and in stock locally so I could supply my client with it same day. It was a replacement for an 8 year old backup drive he had that was failing. Cons: No real cons. The backup utility was easy for the client to use and understand once configured.

I like the back up drive in that it is portable and affordable!

The screen is really nice, I know exactly how much power is left. It has enough battery life to charge my galaxy s6 3 times, or my surface twice.

This Seagate Backup Plus Drive matches my need: portable, cheaper. I use it as external backup storage for my 200GB SSD laptop.

It took me a little while to get it to work on my iMac. The store did not have the mac version on hand but the box said it would work with Mac.

Okay. I goofed and have been lazy in backing up my files on my desktop computer. Well, it happened... hundreds of files lost. Now I am using this new 1TB Seagate portable HD. Hopefully this will act as my carbon copy of all of my files. This drive is very fast and can use USB 2 or 3. Wish I had one like it earlier. Lesson learned the hard way.

Needed drive to back up older system before upgrading. Useful not to have to have external power connection. Works as advertised on USB connection.

Works well on continuous backup, difficult to manage on weekly user defined system. Not very informative on their Dashboard software. Otherwise, seems to do a decent backup job.

I use this as an external backup of all my important data. I recommend you plug it in only when you need to backup and then unplug it. There are some bad viruses out there (ransomware) that mess up your data and they look for all drives and external drives to ruin your files. Keep this unplugged. that way if you get one of those viruses it wont infect your external device.
