I needed a unit adequate to back up my 90% full 1 terabyte drive. 5 GB was the size I was looking for and it was on sale for $40. It's a no hassle unit, you plug it in and go; no switches to flip and no start up request. It doesn't perform to expectations. Seagate support said that on my 64 bit Windows 10 computer I should expect transfer speeds in the range of 100MB/sec to 150MB/sec. My actual transfer speed is around 35-40 MB/sec. I've verified my system is ok, run a hardware test, made sure I was plugged into a USB 3 port. Unable to find anything wrong with my system and conclude this is a poor product.

    Already Failed....worthless piece of junk

Purchased to be a new back up less than a year ago and already failed . Won't mount or even be acknowledge by the computer. Seagate used to be a good company to purchase drives from, clearly they have lost their direction, what a waste of money.

I've had this hard drive for less than a year. It sits next to the computer, doesn't get bumped or dropped or even moved. I turn my computer on today and it says the drive has failed and needs to be reformatted.

I purchased this drive it says it has a 2 year warranty. But when you go to register it you will see that the warranty is expired on the same day you receive the drive. Segate will not be helping you with this by the way. Get a WD.

This was a very good value for the storage. However, I spent over 4 hours trying to figure out how to make it work. I have Mac and it was definitely not plug and play.

Slow. Very slow. USB 2.0 slow. I'm using it as a backup for 2.5TB of data on a Mac using Time Machine and I started over 24 hours ago and it still hasn't backed up more than 1TB of data. The last drive was a WD MyBook USB 3.0 that did a total of 2TB and only a few hours. This one is definitely moving at USB 2 speeds. Not happy.
