Does what it's supposed to do,but...
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I needed to get some extra storage so bought this 5TB drive for my videos photos etc. I also installed the Seagate Dashboard and then some very strange things started to happen with my IMAC; several applications paused and I got error messages saying I was out of memory! When I ran activity monitor, Dashboard was consuming all of my ram and i could not figure why, so I uninstalled it and everything was fine after that. Not sure if this was just a rogue issue or there is something amiss with the latest Dashboard s/w running on Yosemite- I can live without it so will not bother re-installing.

We bought two to make sure we have one backup of our computer constantly going and another that switches out with the constantly updating one once a month and put into a fire safe. Probably overkill but for the price the peace of mind is worth it.

Great Storage Capability
