Drive failed quick
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Tl;Dr: Pros, High capacity, good price, fast transfer rates, easy return process, really cool looking case! Cons, Failed the first day. Technical side of things: The first time I connected the drive it took minutes to identify. After the first use, it would open within the average about of time after connecting it to a PC. I assumed it just took some time to load a driver. Connected it to a different computer and it took the same extra amount of time for its first use. Again, assumed it loaded the same bulky driver. Went to plug it back in to my system, and it didn’t come back on. Windows Device manager would identify there was a hard drive controller connected, but that was about it. I did not get the “You need to format this drive” error (which would have been nice in this case, so I could format it long enough to wipe it) it didn’t list under “My computer”, it wouldn’t assign a drive letter. It was like the disk wasn’t even connected to the controller. After about two days of connecting and disconnecting, it booted up, and I was able to clear it and return it. I'd still recommend Seagate, but I never recommend the highest capacity drive on the shelf.
