I have purchased several Seagate External TB Drives over the past eight years and I have never had any problems.

Bought this to use as a backup drive for my new Dell XPS desktop. Have an older Seagate that I've had for 5-6 years and it has always worked fine, so I got another, larger drive. Will still use the old one as an archive drive. Never had a failure on a Seagate that I have owned over the years.

I won't buy anything but Seagate. I have tried others and didn't like them to the point I had to return them.

I got this device to back up my dvr from Dish network. It was pretty easy to set up and transfer my programs.

Owning multiple drives, its a great way to back up files. My computers have an average life span of three years before I want to update or there are glitches that I do not want to deal with anymore. Having everything backed up on eternal hard drives makes the change over so easy.

Seagate is my favorite brand when it comes to hard drives. I've been using this brand since 2009 and it never had a problem unlike other brands that caused me problems and errors. The price at best buy is always competing and they match price if it wasn't the cheapest in the market.

Using this as a back-up drive for a DVR video streams just fine FAST does just fine for all my needs.

Before purchasing this drive, I read reviews and decided that for the money, this would be a great short term solution to my storage needs. I photograph professionally and rely on large capacity storage to manage thousands of RAW files on a daily basis. I have 2 G drives that I use and have been happy with, but I don't know any retail outlets where I can get the size units I need. Here is the breakdown of my experience with this drive: My uploads have stalled out short of completion every time. My transfer between smaller SSD's and the 5TB Seagate have been exceptionally slow. I do not like, nor do I find the proprietary software that Seagate boxes you into useful, or well performing. This drive is targeted for the average consumer who would like a lot of space to hold photos and, movies etc. People who need it for professional use should steer clear!

Fantastic price! You might even say a "best buy". Snatched this baby up when it was on sale. Plugged it up to the wife's iMac without a hitch. Works like a charm. It also does double duty with her Macbook Pro. Tons of space for pictures, projects, music, etc. Extremely satisfied.

A hard drive is a hard drive but what impressed me the most about this particular drive was that upon install of the dashboard I was offered data recovery protection for just $14.95! This is amazing considering I was quoted $600.00 to recover data from a failed device. They should advertise this feature in the product description. I be they'd sell a lot more of this model.

Lots of storage space, great value, easy to use, great for backing up data.

We bought this as extra storage space for our Xbox One Console. It was compatible and easy to setup.

noisy at times, a little slow to copy. Hopeful that it will last a long time as I have basically cloned my Vaio to backup the last ten years of photos and files.

The size is huge, but the speed has been great. The drive has been reliable every time I connect it.

the Seagate Backup Plus STDT5000100 external hard drive is exactly want I need to store more media data. the storage capabilities are up to 5TB of media is fantastic i just adore the its protect, save and share features which enables integration with social networking sites as well as provides data management comprehensively which takes care of my information all in one device.

This hard drive allows for partitioning and works well for storing video files for further editing

I have used this drive to backup all the devices in the house. Works very fast! Highly recommend!
