I used this hard disk straight out of the box, and it worked very well. I was able to backup my entire notebook information and still had plenty of space available for future use and/or other devices backup.

I needed more storage for work and photos and this product was large enough to last me some time. I connected it to my router and now I can save documents and photos from any of my computers or phone.

Seagate manufactures excellent storage devices for backup.

Got this at a great price, and it works as expected, but dissapointed that it didn't have a power switch. Not everyone wants to use this ext. HD as "cloud" storage, turned on 24/7 and reliant on the software to control power, which proved to be not effective in my case. Otherwise, this would've been 5 stars.

I have used Seagate External Drives for years and this is the first one that has have ever given me problems. The first one I got from the store gave me error messages right out of the box when I connected it to a USB 3.0 port on my one year old iMac, if it would mount at all. I returned it and Best Buy swapped it for a new one, no problem, and that one eventually mounted OK, but took forever (several minutes) to do so. I wanted to use it with Time Machine so I reformatted it for Mac Extended (as per my other Seagate external drives which work just fine), and the computer keep giving me mounting errors, telling me it has been ejected incorrectly. I finally got it to mount after resetting the USB controller on my iMac, but it still periodically gives me error messages and time machine will lose contact with it if I let it go to sleep. Whenever I restart my Mac it is 50-50 if it will mount at all the first restart. IMHO this drive is just not compatible with the iMac hardware. Also, be aware that this drive is designed to work only in a horizontal position even though the illustration on the box shows it mounted vertically.

Had some issues when I tried to back up my iMac. It was formatted for Windows even though it stated Mac on there. Not a big deal, just a pain to switch over (not super computer savvy). Very quick backups and fantastic storage.

Great product purchase. Exactly what I was looking for.

Picked this up to use as a backup external hard drive for my Playstation Pro to expand my total memory to 6TB. It works great, no problems, easy setup, and it doesn't clash with the other peripherals.

Does what I bought it to do and, thus, a good purchase.

Very easy to install as my xbox 1 primary drive, lots of hd space. Just wish the read/write was faster.

I needed a hard drive to archive video footage. I was please to find a 5 TB drive at an affordable price. It is ready to use out of the box if you have a PC. If you have a Mac, you need to reformat it first.

My old external drive was USB 2.0 and 1TB and slow. Got a new laptop with UCB 3.0 and decided to upgrade - am I happy. This new drive is significantly faster and was so easy to connect and use. Worth it.
