Drives that keep on Drivin'

Great Value for Archiving

Good hardware, clunky software
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have found backup drives of the two main brands, WD and Seagate, pretty much reliable and as advertised. Ditto with this Seagate (I've owned 5 or 6 of this brand through the years with no particular problems). But, when it comes to the "backup" software that comes with it, fuggedaboutit. Arcane to set up, hard to change settings, and it causes the backup drive to run almost constantly. In one month flat, it managed to fill up almost the entire 5 TB, when the total on all the drives of my new computer was about 1TB. And delving into the backup file structure is like trying to find your way out of a labyrinth. Better to just occasionally copy over the folders from your drives that you really want to keep.

Good size hard drive
