    Great product, one small drawback

Overall, this portable harddrive is a great tool that functions quickly. it is only slightly bigger than a deck of cards and less than half the thickness. The grey sheen cover is attractive and the single light gives of an impressive look. My only complaint is that there are no feet or rubber grips on the underside of the harddrive and so it easily slides around on a smooth surface and if you are not careful you could easily knock it off a table or counter. The fact that this comes with 200 GB of cloud storage through Microsoft's OneDrive is the icing on the cake.

A resident of Arkansas who has personally experienced the catastrophic damage capability from severe thunderstorms and tornado, these portable hard drives were purchased to be used for off site work back ups. This seagate drive interfaces flawlessly with Window 7 Professional operating system. It is user friendly & the USB 3 speed allows me to work in Filemaker Pro and Microsoft office files on the drive without transferring to the computer.

Exactly two weeks after I purchased this product it stopped working! I could not retrieve my documents and all the work I'd done during this time. I refused to pay $500 for Seagate to retrieve my documents when it was lost due to nothing I'd done, but a defective product It does not make sense to pay less than $100 for a product, but then to pay $500 to get your lost information I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND SEAGATE TO MY DOG!

For the past 15 years Ive always purchased Western Digital eternal DH for pc and mac. This time I wanted to try another brand because the WD my passport was not very user friendly. It was never easy to load or offered no icon on my desktop. You never knew if it was on, off or whatever. Now this purchase of the Seagate external HD does all of that. So far so good, needed to contact customer service once when reformatting for mac(which I think is rediculous), but they walked me through it. This HD will save all Facebook photos and that is a good feature too.

Not much to say about this drive. It's not the fastest, but that's not important. It's small, functional, and does the job well. It's solid and I would definitely buy another if needed. I'm using it to back up a PS4, but it would work in any scenario where I need a drive that will do the job and take up minimal space. That fact that it's powered from the USB cable makes it a good choice too. Hard to beat it for the price. One thing to keep in mind, the way it's formatted it didn't work with my PS4. I had to reformat it to a compatible file system.

I was in need of having to reformat my hard drive on laptop but I didn't want to lose my 150+gb of music movie pictures... I decided to get a hardharddrive so I could back up all that. Check bb.com came across a external I felt was within the range I wanted to pay, it was more then big enough as well. Small, slightly bigger then a credit card. Can't say if it's fast or slow but I'm not waiting forever for the files to transfer and I'm very happy with this purchase. I would get. It again if I needed another one or recommend to anyone that's looking for one to get this one.

I bought this because it was one of the recommended units for use with my Channel Master DVR. I use it as an external hard drive. It runs all the time when we're watching TV or when the DVR is recording something. It's small, quiet, and doesn't run very hot. It recorded nearly ALL of the Olympics and played it back while recording the next thing! No glitches! Seems totally solid. I've had other portable Seagate drives in the past that have been just as good, so I expect this one will run for quite a while. Seems like a totally solid drive!

We signed up for cable and needed new equipment. We came to Best Buy where one of your employees told us what our equipment needs were. We took it off the shelf when another sales associate with whom we spoke earlier asked us if we needed additional help. We told him what we were there for and he told us we had the wrong equipment. We purchased what he suggested. Upon installation the equipment has worked perfectly. What am I to take from this experience? Always check with at least 2 of your employees and select the one that sounds more credible?

This Seagate Backup Plus drive is crazy-small, small enough to where it doesn't seem like you can actually store 1TB worth of data on yet, and yet it has plenty of space for all the music, movies, and photos you could desire to put on it. On top of that, it's a speedy drive, with transfers on par with its larger cousins, and it mounts quickly as well. Very impressed and pleased with my purchase. I don't think drives could actually be any smaller lest they begin violating the laws of physics. Highly recommended for anyone with data to store.

This is the third one I've picked up for the family. Bought the first one over a year ago to use as a backup drive for my desktop. Picked up a second one a while back for my wife's laptop. This third one picked up to use as a NAS, plugged into a Netgear wireless router for streaming my music collection to a network audio player, and it has been doing the job without issues. Used it the other day to copy my music collection to new desktop, and was able to move over around 250 GB of data in something like 45 minutes via USB 3.0 connection. Highly recommended.

I purchased the unit to back up my computer in order to get it restored back to Windows 8, (as Windows 10 was causing problems). I was able to store my information on the device, this did not seem to present a problem,(just took a long time). But now I'm just not sure what's going wrong as I can not retrieve the information. There were no written directions in the packaging to follow, not good! I'm having to research on line for directions and clarity in use of the unit. Therefore this review request may be too soon for an in-depth analysis.

I purchased this Hard Drive to use with my new MacBook Pro, I used the Apple USB-C to USB adapter. First I used the HD to transfer data from my old PC to my new MacBook. The HD made a strange squealing noise. I exchanged the HD. The 2nd HD worked well, for a few hours. I formatted it for Time Machine, it appeared to complete the back up, then was hung up on the encryption, then just died. I couldn't get the MacBook to recognize it. Neither could Geek Squad get any computer to recognize it. I've moved on to a different HD.

If you are looking for something to backup your computer or just store lot's of your files, this is a great hard drive to buy. This is great as an inexpensive plug and play hard drive. It is a quick enough drive with the USB 3.0 and it works well for what I need it for, which is to have regular backups scheduled on it for my laptop. This hard drive comes with software that can sync from your social media networks, but this feature is really not necessary for me. I bought this hard drive knowing that I would not use any cloud software with it.

I do video editing, and have bought a handful of these drives. They are fast enough to handle HD footage editing on the road. I like that they don;'t require external power. Out of the half dozen I have bought, I have had one with a bad sectored and couldn't get that particular camera card off the drive. Fortunately, we had not formatted the drive. That's the only reason for four stars instead of five. But overall, I like them and will continue to buy them. I'm pretty hard on the drives and they hold up well.

I've been looking to buy a new external HDD for awhile now since my 5 year old one finally crashed. This new Seagate model is incredibly small and compares to the size of an iPhone 5s but a little wider. It comes with a bunch of features that I tend to not use but you might. My main purpose of owning an external HDD is to use it as a direct backup to me laptop and run a back up once a month to make sure everything is updated in case my laptop ever crashes. Great little external HDD, let's see how the test of time does with her.

I have several external hard drives and all are Seagate. I had to replace a few of other brands and after that, will buy only Seagate hard drives. They are easy to use and very reliable and even come in a few different colors, should you want to organize your data by color. This red one is really nice! I use it for short term storage or for transfer of data from one computer to another.. Although I have labels on all my hard drives, I can identify this one immediately because of the color!

I bought the Seagate - Backup Plus Slim to backup my computer's hard drive (after I learned my lesson from an unfortunate crash). This is the right size for me as it holds all my music, pictures and data. I considered this versus online options such as DropBox and Carbonite. In the end, I was worried about the security of my data in the cloud so opted to store it locally. I created a small batch file that just backs up the files that are new or have changed and it takes just a few seconds each week to feel much more secure.

This is my first time using a product like this. I had tons of family pictures that I wanted to back up in case my computer crashed. I wasn't sure what to expect but I love it. It's small and thin, one wire goes from device to your USB. You just plug it in and the drive pops up on the computer, you click on a file and drag it to the drive and it copies. Simple as that. No software to download etc. 1TB is a ton of space so I will gets lots of use out of it. Honestly, anyone can figure it out no matter how tech savy you are. I highly recommend.

I've relied on this small drive to back up everything! All our family photos, documents, videos, computer restore points, digital media purchases, etc. It has worked flawlessly until last night when it decided to quit. After checking my purchase records I realized that the warranty expired a just a few months ago. Seagate charges $600 to recover the data on a failed drive. I would recommend either the extended warranty or the annual backup plan offered by Seagate (currently $10/yr).
