I bought it for Time Machine backups and it works great for that purpose. Small enough to fit easily in a laptop bag or backpack and fast enough to back up dozens of gigabytes quickly. The finish looks nice if it's out on a desk as well.

Compatible with a Mac desktop and up to date operating system (OS X Yosemite). The drive was easy to install and setup. Immediately used for home videos and pictures. No problems at all!

Works as described! Made for Mac so when I plugged it in, it was recognized right away. 1TB was enough to transfer date and back up small things. Got it on sale so it was a great buy!

Very small (4.5 inches long, 3 inches wide, 0.5 inches thick), runs cool to the touch and is totally quiet. Very easy to install. Its operation does not interfere with or slow my computer.

I really enjoy the Seagate external HD as it has so much room for a good price and is compatible with Mac. I highly recommend this product!

This drive is a small, light and sleek drive. I used it to backup my MacBook using Time Machine. Setup was easy, USB 3.0 works well and software was easy to use too.

Worked great right out of the box. No formatting needed plug and play with time machine. About the size of an iPhone 5s, maybe a tad bit wider. Very fast connection. Dropped it a few times and it still works great. Matches the sleek design of the MBP.

I needed a drive big enough to perform a full backup before servicing my Mac. There were cheaper ones online, but this one was still a good deal (and available immediately in-store). Set up couldn't have been easier. As soon as I plugged it in, my Mac recognized it and asked if I wanted to use it for Time Machine. The size is compact and easy to store. The smooth metal finish looks great too!

I purchased this drive when I made the switch from Mac back to Windows this past year. Although it says it is for Mac, it can also be used to backup any Windows computer. It is just pre-formatted for Mac, which can save you 45 minutes. Pros: It is small, lightweight, cost-effective and used for Mac/PC Cons: It took me a while to figure out how to get my PC to recognize the drive & be able to backup. That was frustrating, but one of the keys I remember (I am writing this retroactively) is to download the Paragon Driver for Windows from the Seagate website. http://www.seagate.com/support/software/paragon/

Can be used for mac or pc but if you are using for a PC, you must donwload special software. All in all good for cheap price.

Portability is important and also the handy size. Takes up less space. Seems to be reliable storage thou time will tell!

This is definitely a college student must have! Well, basically this is a must-have for those who want to keep important files such as memorable pictures stored forever!! I have an old Macbook Pro, and I've lost my memory on it twice already due to some stupid reason that I have to wipe my computer and start over. So this external harddrive is definitely great. It works great and is compatible with my MBP. I also like the sleek look to it and how thin it is also.

The drive is slim and compact, making it very portable, plus the fact that it was instantly recognized by the MacBook Pro I connected it to makes it that much nicer, but the real feature that I found very appealing was its' accessibility in both OSX and Windows-based operating systems, which really works out seeing that the MacBook Pro that it's connected to is currently running BootCamp with Windows 7, and it's nice to know that no matter which operating system it boots into the files on this drive are accessible 24/7. Overall, a great little drive. The only way you'll regret this purchase is if you accidentally thought this was the 2TB model!

I bought this soon after buying my first Mac, because we all know how how hard drives like to say they can switch PC/Mac, but not really. The first time I plugged it in, I didn't realise it would take an hour to do the first TimeMachine Backup, so I canceled it out. When I later went back to it, it wasn't quite so plug'n'play. Still, it's a good quality hard drive with the software already on it (although it refuses to let me register the software and insists my code is wrong even though it autofilled itself), and the data transfer seems fast. I got it slightly on sale which makes me feel a little better about the price, and haven't had issues so far.

I already had one of these that I use to store all my photographs and photography editing software programs. I decided I needed a back up for my main external hard drive since I keep everything there instead of using up space on my Macbook Pro. Now I don't have to worry if anything were to happen to my main external hard drive. I have been using this brand for about a year now and love it. Don't have any complaints.

I was in the market for an external hard drive for my MacBook because over the years I was starting to collect a lot of photos and files that I needed to store but didn't want them sitting on my computer taking up memory. Bought this Hard Drive and within minutes of plugging it in, the drivers installed and I was on my way to moving everything over. Love the size too. Easily fits into a pocket inside my backpack.
