I was looking for a lot of storage and this does the job. I like the fact that it was really easy to setup. All my computer recognize it on the network and haven't had any issues. It's also nice that this drive allows you to download apps for it, so you can definitely get a lot of functionality out of it

Well being I.T. I really had high hopes for this for a mid size home network, streaming numerous t.v.s as well as other connections. Unfortunately this device would only be seen if connected to the main router and not the switch as my other cloud/back up drives had in the past. which is pointless since all other computers/tablets etc on on the switch etc. I thought maybe the firmware update would help but it that was not the case. Returned this item after getting no useful help from Seagate stating what I wanted to do was impossible! Purchased the Western Digital my cloud and everything connects and does what it is suppose to do.. Very disappointed in Seagate as I have I have used them for many many years!

Beta Product - Do Not Buy

I bought this product to backup all of the devices in my home, 2 computers, 2 phones, and 2 tablets, as some are coming close to capacity after purchasing an A6000 and taking a million pictures with it (and loving it!). The device is easy to set up in your home, plug it into your router and you will almost immediately see it on your computer and are able to set it up. The UI on the computer is decent, although it ends up setting up at least 3 folders on your computer which is a little confusing (1 should be enough..). File transfers are easy, however fairly slow. CONS: I only have a 10mbps internet connection so that could explain it, but it still took 20+ hours to back up my 250gb hard drive (not backing up everything, mind you). It only actually successfully backed it up once in the month I had it, the rest of the time it failed even though I tried at least 10 times. For a 3tb drive with easy backup software you'd expect to back up large amounts of data, so something that fails so readily definitely needs some work. As for the remote media access, don't even bother. I initially talked to Seagate support which told me I had to open multiple ports which I did to no success, then they pointed me to linksys support (my router), then my ISP support, all with the same results. After weeks of customer support to get it working I finally got the media access working on my mobile devices, however it was USELESS. To open a single picture it would take 10+ seconds no matter where I was (even at home), and sometimes wouldn't even open. Videos rarely opened as they'd buffer forever. It's not usable, don't even bother. As for the SDrive app, I've had the same issue many others have had, it won't work on mobile devices, so basically it's also useless. Basically, if you want a simple wireless hard drive to back up your computer that doesn't have much data on it, this is fine. If you want to back up a large amount of date, or want to access any media files, or want to access anything remotely, DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT. Seagate hasn't figured out how to get it working in a regular consumer environment, nor have they built any of the software to be usable. This thing has a lot of potential, but needs a HUGE amount of work.

    Wish I'd done my research

This hard drive is unable to transfer big files quickly over WIFI and since my computer (or any mac really) doesn't have an ethernet port, there is no way to transfer HUGE amounts of data from my other hard drives onto this one. You cannot plug it directly into your computer and transfer data like a regular hard drive. Very disappointing and it was a pain to set up. It took me so long that now it's too late to return. Not a plug and GO kinda thing... and it makes me nervous that I can't just plug in the unit to my computer and see everything... you are at the whim of your wifi connection to be able to use it. Makes me uncomfortable... and now I'm stuck with it.

    MyCloud P-O-!!!S

My machine is a 16GB I7 developer station.... The administrative tools give you absolutely no control over the data..... It's a multi-terabyte drive, but if you remove a backup and check "remove files", the desktop app locks up for 3 hours while it slowly deletes 1Gb of files. You cannot tell it to overwrite existing backup You cannot just run a backup on demand. By clicking the run backup button it tries to run ALL backup jobs. There's no way to just select one and run it. This is the worse administrative setup I have seen. I don't see how it's possible to create such a horrible experience. I am still watching the stupid hour glass spin while it deletes my backup..... Oh, yeah and with synchronize on , or active backup where it senses changes and writes those files to your backup.... My computer is pretty much non-functional.... . It's slow and sluggish just switching between files.
