We are both middle aged with some back issues going on, and this mattress is the right blend of soft and firm. Squishy enough to not make your hips ache, but firm enough so you don't feel like you're just being eaten by your mattress. I don't think it's entirely as thick as they advertised, but I'm not mad.

I didn't know at the time how important the thickness of the mattress is more I believe this is 14" for me that made a huge difference.

Warning: if you read the instructions where it shows it rolling out and unfolding, be warned that if you do that, it unrolls upside down. Get some help or demolish your room trying to flip it like I did, and I’m a big guy and it was a chore.
