This is 1 of the best documentaries I have seen. Everybody that I have turned on to it loved it. A must see if your from the Detroit area for sure!

SEARCHING FOR SUGAR MAN tells the incredible true story of Rodriguez the greatest `70s rock icon who never was. After being discovered in a Detroit bar Rodriguez's sound struck 2 renowned producers and they signed a recording deal. But when the album bombed the singer disappeared into obscurity. A bootleg recording found its way into apartheid South Africa and over the next two decades he became a phenomenon. The film follows the story of two South African fans who set out to find out what really happened to their hero.

One of the great documentaries deserving of the Oscar. Tragic story of director. This will be a lasting tribute to his immense talent. A MUST SEE

This was a compelling story of a artist I was not familiar with prior to seeing this film but wanted to know more about after watching

great true story, it will become one of those stories that will linger for years to come...

Searching for Sugar Man won the 2013 Oscar for best documentary. It deserved it. The story is compelling--one of delayed but well-deserved recognition--and the music is excellent. Worth seeing without knowing anything about the story behind the documentary, and very much worth a blind buy.

The story of the Detroit musician Rodriguez, who cut 1 album in the early 70's, which bombed in the U.S., leading Rodriguez to sink back into obscurity. the best movie ever. the music, the editing, the graphics,, the special features, malik`s enthusiam and determination, and of course the amazing rodriguez. does not matter how many times i watch the movie, i always cry.
