These IE 80s are replacing a pair of the bose ear phones and they are a worthy replacement to say the least. These have great sound isolation while not being so isolating that you are oblivious to the things happening around you. These are also extremely comfortable and I can even wear them to sleep without any discomfort. There are plenty of various tip types and sizes that come with these making a good fit relatively easy to obtain. The sound quality is also fantastic once you get the right size and type of ear tips. Bass is not only extremely good but it is also tight and accurate while still allowing you to really feel it in your music. Highs are also very crisp and clear without being uncomfortable or screechy. Overall they sound fantastic and are worth the money.

The Sennheiser IE 80 earbuds provide very good sound quality. Good bass and great detail, suitable for pop music, symphony, piano and violin concertos. If you want just one high quality headphone for all music, IE80 is a good choice. It comes with a decent selection of tips and a cool-looking pull-out carry case, but it is hard to use. I just purchased a traditional hard shell carry case online separately.

After trying several different models these Sennheisers delivered. The design fits comfortably over the ear and the shape of the ear plugs fit snuggly into the ear. A choice of ear tips means finding just the right fit. The sound is crisp and clear. I've adjusted the bass response but if you want a bass driven head phone this may not be the best choice...

This is my second pair of these headphones. They sound so good, I decided to keep an extra pair for emergencies. As a DJ, I can never have enough headphones, and these sound really good and are a good price!

Sound quality was excellent as I have come to expect from Sennheiser. The fit was surprisingly good given the less orthodox shape of the IE80s and they came with a wide selection of tips to create an even better fit. With the double flanges I've been using, noise isolation is great as well.

The sound quality was the best of any headphones I have ever bought. Which is quite a few. I loved the look and sound of these... BUT ended up returning because the way they fit (they come with this around the ear plastic piece you attach to the wire to help keep them in place, it moved a lot and flipped off the wire so easily). If the plastic piece that connected to the wire - was physically constructed attached to the earpiece I would have kept them and loved them. Trying to wear them with just the loose wire wrapped around my ear never would stay and it annoyed me flipping off every 15 minutes.

I've spent years trying to find suitable headphones for my daily commute here in NYC. Although I've found some other, less expensive options, cables tend to die, isolation is missing, or sound quality is sacrificed for comfort and convenience. THe IE80 solves all of my problems with portable audio. Pros: *The replaceable cable option is one of my favorite features. Headphone drivers rarely die, it's the cable that goes bad 99% of the time. Since the cable is removable, you can buy spares. I found them on ebay with microphones for $10. *Isolation - These headphones don't isolate quite as well as some other headphones I've used in the past, but well enough that I cannot complain. If you buy some foam tips to go along with them...problem solved. *Sound Quality - TOP NOTCH. I don't think I've ever heard better audio from earbuds. The sound stage is very wide, bass is incredible (i keep the adjusters on level 2) and the whole experience is magical. I listen to primarily hard rock but 'd highly recommend these to anyone listening to pop or techno for the amazing bass response. These kick the Beats brand to the curb. Much clearer, better range. Cons: Price. With that being said, the price seems to be dropping rapidly right now. I've seen these as low as $270 in the past couple of weeks which makes the purchase a no-brainer.

I use these when traveling and working out. Using foam compressible earbuds with them makes the isolation pretty great, not at the level of ANC but very good.

The ie80's are a good bass preferred headphone but the mids are a little dark. The headphone is much easier and better to listen to for long periods than my shure 535's. But lacks a little in the mids, they seem to get a little hidden behind the bass. Not sure the headphone is worth the price as a single driver headphone it leaves a little to be desired but is very pleasant for long trips. If you like iems with a little more bass and less harsh than shures I would try the kef m200, I think they sound fairly similar for substainly less. They were unfortunately not comfortable for me since the kef's are a little larger. Both are decent warm sounding headphones. But I think I'm going to return these and bite the bullet and get the ie800's, because the vocals bother me and I think with a second driver these would probably be amazing.

I looked everywhere for a good set of buds and this has been the best so far, I tried the shure 425 and sent them back to Best Buy. Don't get me wrong they are great in there own right, but I needed more bass, and these Sennheiser - IE 80's handle that hands down. I like the bass and i like clean clear audio too, these provide me with that. I'm using an Iphone 4 all the time. The last thing is that the foam earplugs are the way to go for comfort. All day everyday they never get sore. I had a pair of cheap skullcandy that sounded Ok, but I had them turned up all the way most of the time, Now with the IE 80's I NEVER turn all the way up. They are that good.

If you're looking for great clarity and reproduction with excellent bass, than these are for you. Once you find the proper seal these earphones will deliver excellent sound and I have been listening to these more than my high-end headphones (HiFi Man HE-500). They do not require amping, even though they sound great through my Leckerton Audio amp. These offer a great seal from the outside world and if you have your music on at all you will not hear any other noises. You have to get a proper seal to hear the excellence, please buy them you won't be let down!! They are a bit on the expensive side but what quality items aren't these days. You will not regret this purchase!!

I own / have owned various 'high end' headphones including SE530's, 425's, 215's, Monster Turbines, and QC15's. I really enjoy the Shure upper line #armature drivers - clarity#, but still enjoyed the bass of my Monsters #dynamic drivers# until they broke recently and were needing a replacement. Got the Shure SE215's initially since they use the dynamic driver, they are fine, but not really even as good as the Monsters, IMO. So, I decided to go high end and got the Sennheiser IE80's. Well, the sound on the IE80's is not quite as clear as the upper end Shures, but much more detailed than Monsters. However, they are a fantastic listening experience, demo'd all sorts of stuff and experienced familiar tracks in a new and exciting way, Grateful Dead live sounded incredible and real, and Deadmau5 'Strobe- #club edit#' hypnotized me with the incredilble bass detail and spatial effect. My reccomendation is to buy both the SE425's and the IE80's and you can experience your favorite tracks twice as much, I love the IE80's, very glad I got them.

    solid mid level choice

Engaging sound with nice control and balance, recessed vocals but enough to hear them and silky quality, good soundstage. Need to wrap wires over ears to keep them in place, fussy tips, pushing them back in often, ambient noise gets through easily. I have used these for critical listening and are excellent, but also do well for workouts, they hold up to sweat and have been going strong for years. SE535's are much more amazing but I think I sweat in them too much and they died after a couple of years, IE80's cost half the price and have a more dreamy wide soundstage with the warm Sennheiser sound signature. Finally, you can get these to respond at very low volume levels, and is one of the greatest attributes for someone who now has to watch the volume level to avoid hearing damage.
