I anticipated these headphone to cover my ears completely. I understand they are the travel size but still thought they would have full ear coverage. The sound quality is ok, I expected better from the brand. I am disappointed in the product for the price, I probably will not purchase this brand again unless I am thoroughly impressed.

Can your device&driver support advanced profiles?

I purchased these for connection to a computer. I also have tinnitus so do not discern sound distinctions as well as others. Before purchasing make sure your BT device and its software driver support both A2DP and APT-X. The sound on these is poor without that support so will be a waste of your money. You will need to pay additional money on the BTD-500 / 800 to get that support. Directly from the Sennheiser manual – “For an optimum listening experience, your audio source has to support the A2DP [Bluetooth] profile." I would change that to "For an acceptable listening experience..." My Logitech H600 (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/logitech-h600-wireless-headset-black/3436118.p?id=1218403403529&skuId=3436118) were 1/6th the cost and sounded better until I purchased the BTD-500. The H600 includes a dongle so provides the above profile support. Now read Malibumike's review on Best Buy – excellent information so I am not going to repeat what he already provided. My additions to his review: - The side LED does not blink on my version. Perhaps Sennheiser changed this in the past year. -Using the BTD-500 dongle, the Bluetooth light does not go out. It does without it and states so in headphone the manual. - With the BTD-500 control of the source except for volume is lost. The source does not pause when using the Talk Through Function. I do not have Previous / Next source control either. Using my BT radio I do but the sound crackles as if you have moved too far from the BT radio, even when next to the laptop. - I do not like a lot of Bass so am happy with the levels. It is there but not over powering like other headphones I have used. - I find the sound quality improved with NoiseGard as most background noise is gone and the levels increase. - The included cord is worthless. It is low quality and only about 4 feet long. Unless you sit right next to your audio equipment you will need to purchase another one. I will consider this cord if it becomes stocked again - http://www.bestbuy.com/site/v-moda-coilpro-3-9-dj-cable-black/2961382.p?id=1219084783714&skuId=2961382. - The advertised battery time (20 hours) is for a wired connection with NoiseGard. With Bluetooth it goes down to 10 hours. With both Bluetooth and NoiseGard it is only 8 hours. I have not used it for these lengths of time to confirm any published times yet. Sennheiser does sell a standalone charger with two extra batteries for extended time. Best Buy does not currently sell the BTD-500 or rechargeable batteries. Together they cost about $100 elsewhere; so figure those into the cost if you need or want them. SUMMARY I do think these sound good hence the 4-star rating. I am disappointed I need to spend this much and then spend another $100 to get them to a level that works. I do not hear that much difference than my existing H600's so would not recommend a purchase unless you have a very discerning ear.

    Sennheiser MM 450-X Review

I’ve owned these headphones for over a year now, and can honestly say - they are the best I’ve owned. I didn’t want a pair that were too bulky, but rather something that I could easily fit into my laptop bag and take to the office, or on trips. In addition I definitely did NOT want to be the guy with huge “cans” on his ears out in public. That is one thing that is especially nice about these. They are large enough to give you a rich, full sound. But, not enormous enough to draw too much attention, well – except for the blinking lights (more on that later). What else do I love about these headphones? Audio Quality – These headphones sound extremely clear and precise. Some of this is in part to APT-X. If you’re not aware what that is, it allows CD quality audio to transmit via Bluetooth (assuming you have a capable source). I’ll use the analogy: Listening without apt-x is like listening to FM Radio. Listening with apt-x is like listening to a CD. Though the difference may not be that extreme, if you can tell the difference between those sources, you get the picture. Bass - If you’re a Bass head these headphones might not be for you. They do provide plenty of mid/low end, however, they will not tickle your ear drums with it or anything. I would definitely advise you to pick a music app for your smartphone or tablet that allows you to tweak the sound. Neutron is very good, and I’ve been using it for all my Bluetooth devices, speakers etc. As good as they sound without software enhancement; you can really bring the bass up to more than adequate levels with some fine tuning. Build Quality – They feel like they are built to last. They are mostly a soft feel plastic, with brushed aluminum accents. When you adjust them or collapse them to put in the included case, they do not creak. The padding, even after a year and 3 months of near daily use, is still very nice. In fact, both the ear pads, and battery are removable / replaceable – if needed. Talk Through Function – This actually works pretty well. They have two built in microphones that when you press noise guard button will amplify sound in, instead of blocking it. It also pauses whatever you were listening to until you hit it again to turn off. Pause/Play/Skip/Back buttons – These all work great and are very handy to have right on the headphones. Size – Again, as I mentioned prior…They’re are not too big and offensive, which I like. They also collapse to a relatively small size. Possible Cons / Improvements: Blinking Blue Light – Once connected to your Bluetooth device, you will hear a blurp, and you’re connected. However, the ring / target looking shape on the side will flash blue every 4-5 seconds or so. This is not a big deal in a lit room, or outside. But I have flown across country with these during the night, and I felt bad for the guy sitting to the right of me. Yup – blue light flashing at his face every 5 seconds. I suppose you could cover it, or put on a hoodie though. The Case – It’s a pretty nice case, but would have preferred a hard shell one. I’ve noticed that since its soft shell the headphones will tend to get squished a little in a bag pocket. Not a huge deal, but a hard case would have been great. Noise Guard – The noise canceling is actually pretty good, especially for headphones that rest on top of the ear. But, it seems that sound quality does take a bit of a hit. Bass response is definitely lessened. Also, I’m not sure if this is just my set of headphones but the left channel, when noise canceling is on, seems to be slightly louder than the right. One thing I do like however is listening to voices (mainly podcasts) in this mode. Everything is crystal clear especially with all white noise that these headphones cancel out. All in all, these are a very nice set of headphones that I would certainly recommend to someone looking for that cross between ear buds, and large headphones. I can’t say enough, how great the form factor of these little guys is. They are compact, slick, and have a butt load of technology in them….Not to mention they sound really great!
