Good decent sound and ease of use, usually.
Tried to hook up additional phone to it but it got lost and took me an hour to get my original phone reconnected. Why, i dont know. Quite frustrating.
A weakness. Sounds good but not as good as real wired headphones, unfortunately.

The Momentum 4 is the latest, premium over ear wireless headphone from Sennheiser. This is my first experience with the brand but I have numerous experiences with the competitor’s brand (and headphone) in which Momentum 4 is designed to match or beat. With sound quality, and noise cancellation on the priority list for this headphones objectives, let’s take a look at whether or not it matches the competition.
In the Box:
- Headphones with carrying case (Fairly sturdy, nice case)
- USB-A to USB-C charging cable
- 2.5mm to 3.5mm cable
- 3.5mm Airplane adapter
- Warranty Info, Quick Start Material
Setup:
Taking the headphones out of the case, I noticed they immediately went into pairing mode without touching the button to turn them on (It turns out this is actually a feature). I found this strange but I proceeded to pair them via the BT menu on my phone. The process was smooth just like many other BT headphones/devices anymore. I also downloaded the Sennheiser app to control the headphones and access other settings. I will touch on the app a little later but it’s laggy.
The Momentum 4’s support aptX Adaptive which is supposed to give you the best of aptX HD without the latency. Overall it would be very hard to distinguish the difference the aptX Adaptive and LDAC from the competition in most use cases but it’s worth noting.
Sound Quality/ANC:
The Momentum 4 features 42mm drivers which are larger than most headphones in this category. Out of the box, I think the sound is very good but could be always be tweaked for preference. Luckily, you can tweak the EQ within the Sound Control app and this should fix any minor EQ issues you have with the sound. As usual, I added just a little low end and the sound was good to me.
As far as the ANC goes, this is where my biggest complaint lies with the Momentum 4. This is supposedly a big upgrade over the prior generation but doesn’t stand up to the competition in my listening. The ANC can be tweaked directly from the side of the headphone using the touch controls (very cool!) or within the app. Overall, it blocks out a lot of ambient noise but not as much as I would like. Again, for most people this is killer ANC.
As with other headphones I own, I find myself always higher up on the volume levels than I would like for the level of sound actually coming out of the headphones. Anything less than 50% volume on my phone seems overly quiet and I find myself right around that 60-75% threshold for casual listening. Distortion seems very minimal near max volume.
Comfort:
This is where I will give the Momentum a slight win over the competition. I find these to be very comfortable and can easily where them for hours at a time. I have no real complaints with the comfort. The materials and design feel quality for this price point.
Features:
The right side of the headphones feature a touch pad for several gestures. You can control music playback, calls, ANC, and transparency mode. The touch pad works well for the most part. The headphones also feature auto on/off via picking up the headphones and auto play/pause. The auto power off turns the headphone off after 15 minutes of nonuse. You can turn this off in the app or change it to 30 minutes/60 minutes for longer periods before turning off. The auto play/pause can be turned on and off in the app too.
The right side of the headphones features the power/pairing button, 5 LED indicator lights, and the 2.5mm input jack.
Battery:
These are rated for a staggering 60 hrs of music playback via Bluetooth ANC at mid volume levels. I have to say based on my playback so far, they seem to do very well even at volume levels above 50%. I would say their claim is not unrealistic if you listen at moderate levels. If you listen above 50% like me, then time will drop but overall it is very good. Charging is done via USB-C.
App:
The Sound Control app on my phone is very slow to respond to inputs. Once the headphones connect, you click them and it takes a good 6 seconds for the app to open the headphone profile. Inside the settings/controls they work but again are not overly fast to respond. If this could be improved, the app would be much better in my eyes. The layout and amount of control is great but the speed is not. I love the quick toggle to connect/disconnect from either of the 2 devices the headphones are connected to at the same time. This makes switching between two devices easy.
Pros:
- Active noise cancellation (Works well, not class leading)
- Bluetooth 5.2
- Sound quality with app integration/EQ (Very good sound quality)
- Color choice (Black and light gray)
- Fast charging capability
- Attractive design with great comfort
Cons:
- App Slow/Laggy
- No water resistance
- 2.5mm Input on Headphones
Overall:
I really enjoy using these headphones. The sound and comfort are highlights I came out with after using them for a few days. The app integration needs a little work but the bones are there and the ANC isn’t class leading from my listening but it’s not terribly far off. With the lower price of the competition, I think this makes the Momentum 4 a great value.

Im the proud owner of all the generations of the Sennheiser Momentum truly wireless earbuds because I consider them the best among all the earbuds. So I decided this time, to try out their over-the-ear Momentum 4 wireless headphones. I assumed they too, would be amazing. And I was right.
This is Sennheiser's fourth iteration of over-the-ear headphones but my first pair. I already own many over-the-ear headphones from other brands and have plenty of experience and expectations. Sennheiser did not disappoint. These are very comfortable, feature-rich and sound amazing!
First impressions. The one gripe I have is that they feel a bit cheap. My pair are made from plastic and vinyl ( I believe). I wish they had used higher quality materials like metal as they feel a bit hollow. The adjustable headband adds some cloth (same used with their earbud's case) to the top of it for some change in texture. In using plastic, they do benefit by being relatively light which is always a good thing. The very soft, vinyl ear cups are clearly labeled L and R and fold flat for storage in the included case. There is only one button and that is used for powering the headphones on and off and for pairing. There is also a small strip of LEDs that show battery life. I also see several microphone holes scattered about. The carrying case is made from the same cloth on the headphone band and has a pocket inside for additional storage. There are also built-in elastic bands to hold the USB A to USB C charging cable, the 3.5mm audio cable - allowing for wired use, and an airplane adapter. It's a slim case and should be very easy to pack and take with you.
These headphones offer touch controls on the right outer side of the ear cup. I love this feature which I first experienced with another brand's headphones. It very similar here. You can tap to initiate pause, play, skip, rewind, volume up or down and ANC or transparency. The taps are responsive and no issues as of yet using them. And you can use them for a VERY long time between charges. The battery is rated for 60 hours (with ANC on!) of usage which blows my mind. Very impressive.
For the best results and for customization, these headphones can connect to the Sennheiser Smart Control app via your phone. The app offers a TON of very useful functions to make these headphones sound/perform their best. The app allows for custom equalization through what they call Sound Check, where you listen to music and select various options to create a sound profile based on your choices. It's easy and works quite well. In the app, you can also adjust the adaptive ANC function and I particularly like the wind noise reduction. They also did this for the earbuds and it actually works better than any other brand's attempt. You can also set up Sound Zones that apply your sound settings based on geo location. There are a ton more controls in the app like on-head-detection, smart pause, connection management ( can be connected to 2 devices at once), and auto power off settings. Sennheiser did a great job at offering a lot of features with these headphones.
Sound quality is amazing. I've listened to several different genres since getting these and it has been a pleasure with all of them. There is excellent spatial separation and the bass never gets overbearing. There is even an app setting for adding more bass punch if that's your thing. I haven't experienced any muddiness that Ive often found with other brands. The ANC works quite well but the isolation falls short of some of its competition. It's certainly not bad but could be better. I never used the Adaption ANC so I can't expand upon that. The transparency function did work very well.
Overall, Im super pleased with these headphones. They're very comfortable and the sound is incredible, and I love all the features offered. Plus, 60 hours of battery life is icing on the cake. Im looking forward to using these much more in the future

I just want to start off by saying that I really do want to give these 5 stars, like every fiber in my being wants to be able to give it a 5 star rating but there unfortunately are some issues with these headphones that make it so I can't (to be described later on). I would consider myself as an audiophile, I love music, love sound, love AV gear. I was pretty excited to be able to try out the Momentum 4's, especially with a brand like Sennheiser and a product line that has been around for years. Overall, these headphones are very compact, lightweight, comfortable for hours of use and deliver exceptional sound quality. One thing that I did notice when using these headphones is that audio quality of what you are listening to MATTERS. Case in point, I was using Spotify and noticed how compressed the sound was on these headphones, I switched over to Apple music to try out lossless audio, and WOW what a difference! These things shine when you listen to some high quality fidelity audio. Now, lets go over the pro's and con's of these headphones.
PROS:
- Incredible battery life. 60 hours!? That is insane and unheard of wireless headphones, but so far I have probably put in 20 hours of listening and I am still at 70% battery life!! Incredible.
- ANC is great. It has an adapative ANC which adapts to your surroundings which actually does work out pretty well, if someone starts talking to you, it will adapt to that etc. I wore these to the gym and I felt like I was in my own personal space, I did not hear ANYTHING but my own thoughts and music. I have not tested them on a plane yet sadly, but will next month, but expect them to exceed expectations.
- Sound quality is exceptional. I can hear little details in songs that I never heard before, these headphones create a very nice wide soundscape and deliver crisp audio without the bass being too overbearing. I turn off the bass boost because I feel it muddies the quality too much.
- Comfort... is very good on these. Besides sounding good, a pair of headphones needs to be comfortable for extended wear, especially on long flights. I can wear these for 2-3 hours without any fatigue, beyond that, not sure, but they are very comfy.
CONS:
- Firmware updates are a nightmare!! I have had 2 firmware updates to do since acquiring these headphones and they are only 2mb in size, but take over 30 minutes to download and transfer to the headphones. Not only that, but you have to literally put the headphones as close to your phone as possible and not use them for it to go "quick" A 2mb update with the technologies available today should NOT take 30 + minutes. That is absurd and a huge disappointment.
- Spatial audio and dolby atmos do not work well with these headphones. I use Apple Music and they offer Dolby Atmos and spatial audio support which is very nice. However, these headphones do not really play well with that. It compresses the sound like crazy, I have to CRANK the volume to get decent sound out and it just seems glitchy... Hopefully they improve on this. I have noticed the compression issue on multiple platforms even with just regular stereo audio, I made sure every setting that would impact that was off. I compared to another pair of expensive headphones and did not have that issue, so it is something with these.
- The app is lackluster. Only 3 EQ sliders... not really much else you can do besides edit ANC. A lot to be desired here... most other apps have way more features but this one does not sadly.
Like I said, if the headphones/app weren't so buggy with firmware and issues this would've been 5 stars. Perhaps Sennheiser will improve in the future with this.

These are alright headphones. The sound is okay as well as the noise cancellation. Not much to customize on the EQ. comfortable and sleek design though.

This is not talked about much but this is by far the best sounding wireless headphone in this price range. This has detail like an audiophile grade headphone.

I went from Momentum 3 to this set. Overall I'm happy. They're more comfortable, the battery life is way better, and sound quality is about the equal. The detection for when they're off your head to auto-mute is a nice new function. And I'm LOVING the adjustable noise cancelling levels, versus just the on/off on the 3's. Now my gripes. They show fingerprints like crazy, especially if you pick black. The touch controls make this a bigger problem, and the right ear cover just looks like a greasy mess. Also the auto-power off when folded now has a delay you cannot adjust lower than 15 minutes, while it was instant on 3. You can still hold the power button to manually turn them off, or sit them in the case to instant off. The battery somehow still lasts longer.
