They’re great! But disappointing when they are $50 and they won’t price match their own add!

So good. I think Sennheiser was always too focused on sound quality for music and left comfort and noise canceling be afterthoughts, which let Bose and Sony own much of the market … BUT NOW they have all three dialed in pushing them past the competition.
You won’t find a better headset out of the box ready for any situation. The hard shell case is perfectly designed and calls are crystal.
The companion app is there for us audiophiles, but factory settings were on point.
The battery life is insane. Lasts days and I use these at work constantly.
Best luxury all-purpose headphones on the market today.
Way to go Sennheiser!!!!

I really want to be enamored with these headphones. Historically I have loved Sennheiser headphones. They have the track record for quality. That's why it's so hard for me to write a review having less than 5 stars. But in this case there are just some issues I'm finding difficult to get past.
I'll start with the good. For the most part the sound is excellent. I'm amazed by how much more definition I notice when listening to my music with these versus others at the same price point. Out of the box without any eq adjustment they strike a very good balance between lows, mids, and highs.
Battery life is definitely as advertised. In fact, I am pleasantly surprised to have gotten even better battery life than advertised actually. The build quality is excellent as you might expect from Sennheiser. They are very comfortable even while wearing for long periods and I say this as someone who wears glasses and whose ears usually start to ache after a while as a result. If comfort is an extra big deal for you, then these are a strong contender.
Unfortunately, there are some not so great things about these that have me scratching my head. For instance, I am very surprised to notice that there is distortion when listening to some of my music. I've never had that happen quite like this with a pair of Sennheisers. It is especially prominent when I listened to Bad Wolves cover of Zombie by The Cranberries. At about 60%-70% volume the intro sounds horrible. I was hoping to alleviate this by adjusting the eq, but that lead me to my next two issues.
First, the companion app for iPhone is not very good. I have a 12 Pro Max. I have had the app just up and quit on me several times. Other times it just freezes while trying to connect with the headphones and I have to force quit it. But even when it I am able to get past that point, the app still has functionality issues. The in app eq just does not work. No matter what changes I make there is no change to the sound. I don't know why that would be.
ANC is also surprisingly an issue. Upon first testing it out I barely noticed a difference with it on or off. The app, at one point, did notify me that there was a firmware update and I did install it, but it didn't appear to have any affect.
To sum up, these are very good headphones. There are some puzzlingly not so good things about them. Fortunately I think Sennheiser should be able to address most with updates to the app, but at the $350 price point I (and most people I know) expect headphones without such annoyances out of the box.

INITIAL THOUGHTS & SETUP:
The packaging is about the most environmentally-friendly packaging I’ve ever seen. You have a package box sealed with two pieces of plastic-based “sealing discs” (this plastic is difficult to avoid, as almost all seals are still made using plastic)…and, upon removing the seals, all I found inside was the headphone case, with everything (headphones, accessories, QuickStart, etc) inside the case. Needless to say, when it comes to packaging, I’ve never been happier. As for setup, anyone who’s ever paired a Bluetooth device won’t have any problems. Bluetooth has, essentially, become “plug & play” at this point. At this point in time, if you can’t figure out how to pair a Bluetooth device, maybe you shouldn’t have a Bluetooth device. I say that, not to be ‘negative’, but to reenforce how incredibly-simple it is to pair Bluetooth devices.
SOUND QUALITY:
I’ve had a lot…and, I DO mean a LOT…of headphones in my lifetime – those that are plugged in (standard, as well as mini, jack), and Bluetooth. When Bluetooth headphones (by ‘headphones, I mean, literally, the type that have a band crossing over the trop of your head, NOT the type that have the “speakers” sitting inside your ear) first started coming out, audiophiles said they would never rival the sound quality of traditional plug-in headphones…and, at that time, I probably would have agreed, as the sound-quality was mediocre at best.
That was approx 20 years ago…and, a LOT has changed in that time. Today, there are multiple ‘quality’ levels of headphones (and earbuds)…some (ie. the cheapest ones) are still mediocre, while others (yup, the expensive ones) that DO rival the sound-quality of plug-in headphones. And, yes, the Sennheiser Momentum 4 Wireless Headphones IS one of them. Honestly, I’m not sure where, exactly, to ‘place’ them in the tier of things. Are they a top-of-the-line mid-range headset…or, are they a bottom-of-the-line high-end headset? The price point they’ve been placed in positions them “on the fence” between these two tiers. Whichever way you decide to look at it, the sound quality is absolutely amazing. For the past few years, my ‘best’ wireless headset has been from another brand also starting with the letter ‘S’ (and having 4 letters in its name)…and, I’ve always thought they sounded incredibly good. The sound quality was great (I’d have given them a 7-8 out of 10 (especially if a ‘10’ would have been what would have been expected from an equally-priced plug-in headset)), and the noise-cancellation was well-above par (I’d give the noise-cancellation an 8 out of 10).
Moving over to the new Momentum 4 headphones, I’d say they EASILY deserve an 8…and, possibly, a 9…out of 10. Simply put, they sound MUCH better than that ‘S’-brand pair of headphones. Taking things one step further (ie. something you CAN’T do with that other headphone), Sennheiser has an app called “Smart Control” that not only allows users to customize the sound through equalization, and “sound modes”…but, even better, allows you to completely tailor the sound to your particular liking by asking you, multiple times, to select (between three choices) “which sounds better”. Through this process, the app ‘programs’ the headphones to your preferred “tonality”…and, it stays there, even when not using the app.
ADDITIONAL THOUGHTS:
So, you’d think all is 100% good with these headphones…and, unfortunately, you’d be wrong. Out of the box, the noise Cancelation didn’t work AT ALL. Between “transparent” and full “ANC”, there are 6 levels…and, even at full “ANC”, outside sounds could still easily be hears. Even after installing the first ‘Firmware Update’, the noise cancelation still didn’t work. Talk about a HUGE “disappointment”…ESPECIALLY for headphones costing as much as these do. Speaking of firmware updates, yes, the Momentum 4 headphones WILL (from time-to-time) have firmware updates…although, how frequently, I cannot say. As I type this review (approx two weeks after receiving the Momentum 4 headphones), the headphones are going through a second firmware update. As soon as the update is complete, I will test the noise cancelation again, and type the results below.
In the meantime, while I wait, let me mention something about the installation process of the firmware updates. Unlike many other devices, you CAN use the Momentum 4 headphones during the install process (except, for what should be obvious reasons, when the firmware update is finalizing, as it has to ‘reboot’ the headphones)…but, in doing so, take note that this DOES slow down the update process. The update process “claims” the update will take ’21 minutes’. When I installed the first update, I was simultaneously using the headphones (while watching an episode of Marvel’s “Defender” series), and that ’21 minute’ process actually took almost 45 minutes. As for how long it takes when the headphones are not actually being used, that took (pausing typing until update is complete)
POST (2nd) FIRMWARE UPDATE: first, with the headphones not being used, that ‘21minute’ update actually took about 15-16 minutes…or, essentially, half the amount of time it took when the headphones were being used. Second, I can confirm that, with the second firmware update installed, the noise cancelation IS working…and, it’s fantastic. I have the washing machine going, and, with it on full “ANC”, hearing the washing machine is almost impossible…exactly the way it should be. Even in “tapping” a cardboard box only a foot away, I can barely hear it. I don’t know if the noise cancelation was finally “activated” through this most recent update, or if there was some sort of ‘glitch’ in my headphones, which was ‘corrected’ by the latest update…but, whatever the case might be, I don’t care. As long as it’s now working, that’s all I care about.
CONCLUSION:
I’ll admit, I was initially going to only give the Momentum 4 headphones a 4-star rating. While the sound was incredible, and the battery life was excellent, the fact that the noise cancelation wasn’t working was not only a disappointment, but also lessened my overall opinion of the headphones. However, now that the noise cancelation works, I can ‘return’ that fifth star. I don’t think I need to state, in my review, whether, or not, I would ‘recommend’ the Momentum 4 headphones…and answer SHOULD be obvious.

Overall rating is 5 stars. I can keep the headphones on for hours without feeling fatigue and have fallen asleep with them on while listening to music. The fit was important bc I'm petite and didn't want the added bulk and weight. The headphones are superb not only in fit but also in sound quality. I can be on my mobile phone (Apple) have them on while working around the house. Mic quality is exceptional. Sound is crisp and clear. Bluetooth connection and app can use some refinement but overall, this is the best NC headphones I've ever had. Happy with purchase and highly recommend.

Pun intended. Very smooth sound and intuitive controls. It was a surprise gift for my wife and during the unboxing I tried them on and gave myself a slap on the wrist for having jumped the gun on a different brand for my own headphones a few days before. These headphones are comfortable and have full sound at medium volume without being overwhelming. Battery life hasn’t been an issue and the carrying case is beautiful. Will definitely be looking into buying myself a pair of these in the future!

I know the name, Sennheiser from their microphones, but this is my first Sennheiser headphones that. The headphones are very well fit it. The sound from them is great! Even though they were a little expensive for my taste, I found that the money was well spent. I would recommend them to any session musician, and or a music aficionado to consider these headphones very seriously. I have never had a pair of wireless headphones with battery life this awesome. Also, being able to switch between two separate devices without having to go through. The whole link of process is a great added benefit.

I have been using various models of Sennheiser headphones, noise cancelling and not, over past 25 years. Their sound quality is unsurpassed. This model is no exception, neutral open sound with no excessive bass like come competing models. High quality build, comfortable, light with extra long charge hold. Quality case is a bit large as they only partially fold. Noise cancelling is adequate for me. I am a little biased as I am admittedly not a Bose headphones fan.

These headphones are pretty awesome. They have superior sound and feature an app that lets you customize the sound and some features with ease. They are very comfortable and fit nicely with no discomfort.
The headphones include a case and a cable for wired use. They are easy to sync as they go into pairing mode when you turn them on. You just find it on your phone or device and pair them. You can then install the Sennheiser app and this is where you can really get the most out of the headphones. The app allows you to fully adjust the sound. It actually has a way for you to calibrate the sound for customization. I really loved this feature. It feels like an eye test for your ears as it switches between one and two and you pick which one. It is hard to explain but trust me, you will get more out of the sound afterwards. You can then adjust the noise cancellation with a slider. You can slide the bar and change the level, and it is super cool. This is good for when you still want to let in a level of ambient sound, this is better than a simple on or off.
My major complaint about these headphones is the touch control on the side of the right ear. The touch zone is massive and overly sensitive. I am the type of person who constantly adjusts headphones, maybe it is just me or a nervous tick or something, but I constantly adjust. When I do so, I am always inadvertently touching the pad and pausing the music or changing the volume. This was very annoying for me. This was the reason I had to remove one whole star. Other than that, These headphones have amazing sound and an awesome app. I highly recommend.

I recently purchased the Sennheiser Momentum 4 headphones and couldn't be happier. The sound quality is exceptional, with deep bass and crystal-clear highs. They are incredibly comfortable for long listening sessions, and the noise cancellation is top-notch. Highly recommended

The sound and construction are good, and they are very comfortable, noise canc is ok, they connect very easy, however they disconnect also very easy, every 20-30 mins is a pain, and the noise cancelling also. Battery life I was expecting more, I'm disappointed for the price, I won't buy them again.

I have an Iphone 15 pro max and was wanting some headphones with great sound and quality. I bought a pair of momentum’s to use for daily casual use. The sound quality is really good out of the box and in my opinion it does not need to be adjusted. Quality it is much nicer build compared the XM5’s. Issues with these headphone were the constant amount of times it would disconnect. After about 20~ minutes of music, they would make a loud hiss noise and disconnect. I would then be unable to reconnect the headphones at all afterwards. After this happened 3 times, i gave up and returned them. Not sure if i had a defective pair but it is something to keep in mind.

I've had the Sony WH1000-XM3 since 2019. I love that headphone like a friend. It's been with me through thick and thin. Its ANC performance is exceptional. Its comfort is superb. I can wear it for hours and hours without developing any distracting pressure points or muscle tension.
Unfortunately, I find the XM3's sound merely passable. It's a bit too warm/muddy resulting in a lack of textural clarity and detail separation, and its soundstage is quite small. I listen at home using HiFiMAN Arya Stealth headphones connected to a Schiit Jotunheim 2 / Bifrost 2 stack, and I really notice what's missing sound-wise when I put on the Sonys.
That's why I purchased the Momentum 4. I'd heard great things about their sound, especially for the price. For $250 on Thanksgiving weekend, why not give them a shot? To start with the good, the Momentum's sound absolutely does live up to the hype. It separates musical details significantly better than the XM3, and it renders an impressive amount of textural detail for being bluetooth. The Senn's default tuning pushes too much sub-bass for my taste, but that's easily EQed.
Unfortunately, the Momentum also created a noticeable pressure hotspot at the top of my head, and its clamp force made my jaw muscles tight. I wore the headphones a lot for a couple weeks, but the issues weren't appreciably reduced with break in. The XM3's headband pad is much more curved so it doesn't flatten out when you open the headphone, allowing it to contact more of your head and distribute pressure more effectively. The Momentum 4's headband, conversely, does flatten out when you move the cups apart, and the result is insufficient cranial contact area causing a pressure hotspot after only a few minutes of use. The Momentum doesn't slide/shift as much as the XM3 due to its greater clamp force, but I'd trade a little less stability for a lot more comfort. The Senns gave me jaw tension more often than the Sonys move around.
I use my ANC headphones on my commute (public transit — I don't wear them while driving) and at work. I wear them for hours in a row sometimes. I need my headphones to not create unpleasant physical sensations that distract from the music, let alone give me an outright tension headache. The Momentum 4 does both, and break-in didn't seem to help, so it got the ergonomic veto and was returned.
All that said, if the Momentum 5 fixes the 4's ergonomic issues and equals or betters their sound, Sennheiser can count on my money. The 4 is fantastic tech hamstrung by comfort issues that I'm sure they have the expertise to fix. Will they? I don't know. Progress isn't assured. The Sony XM5* is less comfortable than the XM3 in my opinion and in the opinions of everyone I know who's tried both. Fingers crossed.
P.S. The XM3 has better ANC than the Momentum 4, but the Momentum's ANC is still pretty solid.
P.P.S. Best Buy should add a "Comfort" category in the section where you can rate sound quality, battery life, and connectivity. Ergonomics are a top consideration with wearable tech.
*I don't own the XM5, so I'm not going to do a big comparison, but my impression of the XM5 after an admittedly brief test is that it's more comfortable than the Momentum 4, but the Momentum 4 sounds better.

Overall great quality sound. Bass is punchy, physical feel is a bit plasticky but have good weight to them, and ANC doesn’t hiss. One can went out after a couple weeks but replacement was easy peasy at Best Buy via warranty process. Warranty is 2-yr which is great tbh. Not ideal for working out IMHO but these are great for travel or listening at home without disturbing others.
