    A Sennheiser home run

Purchased the Momentum 2 AEG (Around Ear Galaxy) as a replacement to my aging Sennheiser PX 360 BT (bluetooth headphones). The build quality of the Momentums are immediately apparent from the carrying pouch, to the leather stitched headband and ear cup/metal slider/folding assembly. The Momentums earn high praise for comfort. The clamping force is minimal and the well padded ear cushions add significantly to these headphone's overall comfort. The Momentums were connected to an Icon HDP (headphone amp/DAC/pre-amp) with the volume set to 12 o'clock, the volume setting previously used for my 32 Ohm impedance Sennheiser PX 360 BT's. The music source was nothing fancy, just Spotify music playback from my iMac (Brian Culbertson: Your smile, So good, Wear it out; at 320kbps). Not surprisingly, I had to turn the volume down to about the 10 o'clock position, as the impedance on the Momentums is only 18 Ohms, requiring less power to drive, a welcome addition for smartphone use. Right out of the package the Momentum's sound was exquisite. Absolutely nothing harsh stood out in the treble, midrange or bass frequencies. My ears were rewarded with very detailed, well-balanced sound throughout the frequency range. If the Momentum 2's sounded so good to me out of the box, I can't see them but delivering even better sound after a decent break-in period. Some reviewers have claimed too much or too little bass out of these headphones. Although a matter of personal taste, to me, the bass frequencies from the Momentums were very good; deep, tight, no boom or bloom, well controlled, and well integrated with the rest of the frequency range; a clear home run from Sennheiser within this price range. I couldn't see the Momentum 2's not delivering the sonic performance to satisfy music lovers searching for a quality, portable, comfortable and great sounding pair of headphones. Highly recommended!

They fit me well and have the sound I've been looking for in a set of headphones. I have not always made the best choices when it comes to purchasing a set of headphones, but I believe I have made a great choice in these. I have purchased other headphones like the ATH M50x , V-moda Crossfade M-100 and a few Beyerdynamic headphones, but I really like these particular Sennheiser headphones the most. I demoed the headphones at Bestbuy and ordered them through Bestbuy. They told me that the delivery would take 7-10 days, but it arrived at my home in only 4 days. So happy!

Pros: Build Quality Compact for over the ear So So: Sound Cons: Price These have been touted a great in many professional reviews. However, there are dissenting voices that I tend to agree with. The sound is a mixed bag. I think the biggest problem with these headphones is the bass. It is not the "too much" like Beats or "not enough" for bass heads. It is more the fact that the bass is "all over the place" as one professional reviewer put it. I think these headphones over emphasize some lower frequencies and suppress others which results in a strange mix of results that is very dependent on your source material. The rest of the sound is mostly accurate, though the highs are somewhat recessed which is generally OK with me. I think these headphones are very sensitive to the source recording and the equipment you play it through. I enjoy using them on occasion but I tend to use my NAD Viso 50's more since they are better as an all around set of closed back headphones. If I was forced to make a choice between these two I would pick the NADs. As a reference I listen to a wide range of music styles that include Pop, Rock, EDM (Trance, House, Dubstep, etc.), Classical, Folk, and Bluegrass.

not much more needs to be said. I do wish they were a bit easier to adjust and that the cord was a bit more pliable.

The leather and metal, the comfort and style, man these are really nice, and also lightweight. Easily driven with maybe only one notch higher on volume for equal sound level to earbuds (as compared to my ie80's). I bought them for running for more isolation so i could play the music even lower, but not sure how well this will pan out. Did some critical comparison on my 2 Sony players and compared to the IE80's. The IE80's have them beat for clarity and engagement, I was on the fence about returning them due to their warmer sound and seemingly poor bass control. But, after awhile I realized I liked the fuller sound with stronger bass extension, very relaxing and seems like a quality experience in spite of issues on some tracks. The real thing is its hard to let go of these at this sale price, the leather and metal man, wow so sophisticated feeling in this plastic world. Well, they seduced me despite their slightly less exciting sound compared to the IE80's. Concerning use while running, yes they get warm and I will likely limit them for no more than 1hour running sessions in 65F or lower weather. I dunno, they really don't beat the IE80's in many regards, but I just can't let them go, something tells me they will seduce me further as time goes on, Sennheisers have a way of doing that.

Love these headphones. They have exceptional sound compared to other competitive brands, and are extremely light. On top of the weight advantage, they are also built extremely tough with the aluminum band. I would recommend these for anyone doing studio work or who just wants great, accurate sound.

Great headphones, the balance of sound is excellent even though it lacks a slight touch of low end bass frequencies. The materila is high-end built, and feels great. Enjoy them very much everyday.

I had the headphones since December and I love how they sound. I can listen to everything in a beat or song. I had beats before but to much bass and I couldn't hear anything else. After listening to songs I like to hear I could listen to everything and was crystal clear. I also make music to which the M2 help me with my sound engineering, conclusion I will be keeping these for awhile for my work and for my pleasure of listening to .
