I am an older person who finds it difficult to use the on/off function on these headphones. Actually would have returned them but when I decided I had already had them for 17 days. Haven’t been using them but maybe it’ll get easier to understand.

Expected a little more from Sennheiser. Aux cable was damaged when I got it & wouldn't lasted long even if it wasn't.

Bluetooth connectivity to Windows computers is broken. Could not get it to pair correctly consistently. Sometime it would work, other times it would not recognize it as an audio device. I would be able to get it to work sometimes by digging through obscure settings and services, and running a 3rd party program to remove paired Bluetooth devices (because Windows did not allow me to remove the device, giving a "remove failed" message when trying to un-pair). But all other headphones in the price range work flawlessly every time. I didn't pay $200 for something I would need to fight to get working. Also, the lack of power button would be fine if rotating the ear pads actually turned it off. Many times it would take up to 30 seconds for them to power off.

The reason why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 was mainly because of two factors. Compared to the Bose QC2s the noise canceling doesn't even come close, but it still has great noise canceling for general everyday use. If you need absolute noise canceling the bose is the way to go if not the PCX is by far the better pair in terms of comfort, audio quality, and the touch controls. The second reason for the lower star was that I cant use these wirelessly on the computer I have to either plug in the 3.5mm jack or the micro USB. Other than that these headphones are by far the better headphones and is worth the extra 50 dollars over the QC2s and the sony 1000x.

It don't fit, don't force it! Cake & eat it too?

First things first. This was my first purchase of a noise cancelling headphone so wasn't sure what to expect. Being no audiophile, but into dynamic sound in all types of music and convenience of wireless, I was compelled to thoroughly approach my search with an open mind. NC cans appealed to me because elimination of surrounding noise enhances music listening. Along with this I watched and read hundreds of reviews on many different headphones, primarily focusing on Sony WH1000, Bose QC35II, and PXC550. -So now, I know the answer to finding and selecting the correct product for any one person- and that answer really hinges on the following question: What are your headphone priorities? Once you learn the answer and "prioritize them" only then can you select the correct headphones. Do you know your priorities before you start sampling cans? In my case the answer was a resounding no! That's how I ended up with the PXC-550's! But that is just the beginning of the story, because this quality product helped me eventually to prioritize what I needed most out of a headphone. My small head- (size 7-1/8) PCX-550 fit well. My big ear-(Picture Mr. Spock, or a boxer) PCX-550/Small ear cups I wanted these cans! Great quality, decent sound, hi-tech, highly adjustable! In the end, I learned for me all this is null and void if you don't have a proper comfortable fit. So, for me, the #1 priority ended up being comfort! If they don't fit, you are constantly fiddling with them and then you're moving the cups around and the hi-tech of swiping for volume control, etc...works against you. Sound? Yes WH1000 sounded great, but again those are heavier and bulkier so we are back to comfort. I wouldn't, couldn't wear those in a gym (small head needed a cap just so they fit right! Speaking of Hi Tech, another priority..turned out to be fairly low on my list after all. Are you buying the phones for relaxation or to fiddle with the tech features, always trying to derive something better in the music, silence or whatever. Okay, so the bottom line with these cans is " You can't always have your cake and eat it too, so you better prioritize for requirement. In the end, I went for Comfort, Sound, Noise Canceling, Ease of use, then hi-tech in that order. Returned the PCX-550, decided against the WH1000, picked up the Bose QC35 II.

You can't go wrong with these

I've had these for a month now and have no regrets about this purchase. I did my research online before going into the local Best Buy on Black Friday to look at these, a Sony model for $100 less, and the Bose that was $100 more. I also looked at the Sony model that was the same price. 13 years ago I worked for Bose when the first QuietComfort headsets were released and I'm still very loyal. But I could not justify the higher price for them. The Sony's were okay too, but the sound quality was not as good to me and I didn't care for the over sized ear cups and headband. Here's what I love about the Sennheiser PXC 550's: Great sound. Great noise cancellation. Works well on the bus, the plane, and walking the streets of New York City. Absolutely the easiest controls for adjusting the volume, pausing and restarting songs, skipping songs and going to previous songs - all done by tapping or swiping the right ear piece. Turn it on and off by twisting the earpieces, which you have to do to put them in their case and I naturally do now when I take them off. Pass though mode for talking and listening to the real world without having to take off the headphones. A double-tap on the right ear cup turns off noise cancellation and turns on the microphones on the ear cups so that you can hear the person you're talking to. When I get to the cashier in the grocery store I just double-tap the ear cup, tell the cashier I can hear through the headphones, and check out. Then another double-tap goes right back to listening to my music and turns on the noise cancellation. PERFECTION!!! They even work well for hands-free phone conversations. I used to be one of those guys that was holding the mic up to my mouth on the wired headsets while walking down the street. Now I can just tell my phone to dial my brother, put the phone in my pocket, and talk to him hands-free with noise cancellation while walking down the streets of New York City. Another reviewer said he had issues using with his Galaxy S9+. I also have the S9+ and have had no problems whatsoever. These are definitely the best noise cancellation headsets, either bluetooth or wired, that I have owned.

The sound quality is as good as you expect from a Sennheiser and its very comfortable for long listening hours. However the bluetooth pairing is a huge pain and took multiple attempts with the TV but paired easily with phone after couple of attempts. It looks cool to turn on the headphone when the ear cups are in position to listen but also a drawback when you leave it in the position by mistake and the battery drains. Also heard that these cannot be used in passive mode along with mobiles without the use of a DAC.
