All the actors are great and there is not one thing in the movie that I dislike.

The plot picks up a short while after the TV Series, "Firefly", left off. The pre-title teaser provides backstory for those unfamiliar with the TV series. The events in the teaser occur prior to the first episode of the TV series. After the teaser, we find the 25th century spaceship "Firefly" class freighter "Serenity" captained by former Independent soldier Malcolm about to enter the planet Lilac's atmosphere on one of the crews' not always legal jobs; this time a bank heist. When the renegade crew of Serenity agrees to hide a fugitive on their ship, they find themselves in a battle between the relentless military might of a totalitarian regime who will destroy anything to get the fugitive girl back. But, the greatest danger of all may be on their ship. This space opera is written and directed by Joss Whedon (Buffy, the Vampire Slayer, The Avengers, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) and is thus filled with what the Sci-Fi buff wants in a movie in this genre.

"Serenity" was made a few years after the short-lived (single season) Firefly series, and caps off the story line. Both the series and the movie are what I think is the personification of a "space western" and a well-rounded adventure story. Probably ahead of its time by a few years, the 1 season series is in syndication. Watch the first two episodes and see if you become a fan. Both the Firefly series and Serenity are must for my collection!

This was the only canceled series ever to be canx in the first year, then make a movie. it was a hit! political issues hurt this franchise and killed a great thing. another democratic blunder. This movie is great, has amazing FUNNY lines, fast action, really sets a nice pace. The sound is great, can't say enough good things about the sound, it has what you expect for the money you spend on a disk of this magnitude, the money they spent was well placed. You get high quality content. The CGI is so realistic you forget its CGI and just fall into the story and lose yourself in the emotion and staging of the drama and action.

Though I've seen the Blu-ray of Serenity before, I did not own it. When I saw the UHD of it for $15 at BB and I had a $5 reward burning a hole in my pocket, it was a no-brainer. If you're a fan, you already know the film. This is just the best-looking, best-sounding version of the film you can buy. Is it light-years ahead of the BR in terms of sight or sound? No, it's only incrementally better but that's because the BR was pretty good to begin with. I can't give it a full 5 stars only because there are UHDs out there that look and sound more incredible than this. Plus I hate it when (you know who) dies and when (you know who) also dies. And that there's no sequel planned. But I'm still not over the cancellation of the series and it's been 17 years, so maybe that's MY problem.

This movie, which wraps up the series, is one of my all time favorite viewing pleasures. If you never watched the series (look it up and do so, you won't regret it) you can still watch this movie and get along well enough. Just be aware it's a western in space with lovable characters, and any fan of the series will tell you that is was ended unjustly, unfairly, and undeniably to soon. By the way, This is a 4k replacement of my blu-ray, that's how much I love it.

Firefly was cut short due to the stupidity of Fox business ideas. The movie has lots of twists that I would have never thought would happen to each of the beloved characters. A lot of question and wonders that the show never touched were definite answer within the film. It's overall a very enjoyable film nonetheless. It is recommended to watch the series first before watching the film because everything will make more sense than watching the film and not seeing the show first

SERENITY has always been one of my favorite sci-fi classics totwatch over and over, and now that it's in 4K, the clarity of the film is even more stunning. Now there's going to be 8K. I figured so with the drop in 4K television prices. Are we gonna have 8K DVDs now? I am fomring a love hate relationship with ULED....OH WELL! This may be so, but it does diminish my love of SERENITY.

We had serenity in Blu-ray already but it wasn’t talking full advantage of our new system with 4K and Atmos speakers. While we love serenity, I wasn’t sure this was worth it but it was. Visually as expected with more great moments with a few grainy scenes. Sounds though was great compared to the upscale on Blu-Ray.

I loved Joss Whedon's TV series "Firefly," and was heartbroken when it was cancelled. Never thought a movie would happen--and that the movie would be as fun and exhilarating as the TV show. (The movie works no matter how well you know the TV show. You can watch it even if you haven't seen the show, or have seen only a few episodes.)

This film continuation returns us to the world of the Firefly TV Series, and this UHD BluRay delivers the highest quality image available for home viewing. This combo disc is a must-purchase for Sci-Fi fans and can stand-alone as a great film, but is much enhanced if you've previously viewed the Firefly series.

If you like the movie, then you should get it. I have seen it a few times already. The picture quality is excellent on my 120 inch projector screen. I got it for a good price, so definitely worth it. Goes hand in hand with firefly series. You should watch that first if you haven't done so.

I have enjoyed Joss Whedon ‘s Serenity for many years in blue ray. It was like seeing it for the first time watching it in 4K. I wish they had continued FireFly the TV series that it was concluded by. You will enjoy the characters. Their humor and chemistry is spot on.

I use to watch the TV series all the time, even in reruns. I had started to watch this movie several times but never got to see the whole ting in one sitting. Now I can watch it whenever I want. I have not gotten to all the extras yet, but i am looking forward to seeing them.

This film is actually based on the TV series Firefly. If you haven’t seen the TV series I highly recommend checking it out on Blu Ray. Serenity is a great science fiction film with an excellent cast. The UHD looks great and is worth picking up. 5 stars.

If you are interested in the 4k version of this film, you more than likely you know the story, so my review is based on new video and audio formats. I have purchased the DVD then Blu-ray and finally the 4k version. This release is by far the best this film has ever looked. I thought the Blu-ray had a good picture and the audio was decent. The 4k is so much better than I thought possible. The Video The 4k remaster is fantastic. The HDR is very evident in the way colors pop. With the 4k you get the usual upgrades of clarity and sharpness. Clothing has texture and color that are major improvements over the standard Blu-ray. In the opening sequence there is a vast improvement that gives the film a new depth of field -- almost a 3D quality. In the darker scenes there is improvement in fine detail. You can pick up objects in shadows that were lost in past versions. Because the movie has lots of scenes in both sunlight and the darkness of space, it's a great film to show off your equipment. Audio The new DTS-X soundtrack makes great use of the overhead and surround speakers. Dialog is very clear even in scenes with lots of action. While all speakers get a great workout, it doesn't feel forced and of the sound effects feel like they belong. While 4k is still relatively new, this movie is one of the best upgrades from Blu-ray that I've seen so far. It's the first movie that I would give a 5-star rating based solely on audio and video.

It's a great tale that stands on it's own if you're not a Firefly fan, and if you are a Firefly fan this flick fills in where the series left off after only one season. As with the series; the plots, characters and dialogue are fantastic.

This is a great movie to end a fantastic series. It was unfortunate the the series was canceled. Everyone I have recommended this tv show to has loved it. Most had never even heard of it. The movie ties up the story and series.

I rate this very high. Replayability is huge. If you like this please check out the Firefly series that came before the movie. Bought this for the 4k. Own the BR. The 4k is barely better but thats enough for me. Get this on sale.

This may very well be my favorite Joss Whedon creation. Movie aside, I thought the Blu ray was well done and up-scaling meets today's standards. If you're a big enough fan, it's worth getting as your second (or third) copy!
