I played the demo of this before i bought it and thought the demo was great. then i bought it and it was nice to have all the powerups and characters unlocked but it wasnt very different from just playing the demo online. this game is a nice break off of the usual online shooters though. imagine counter strike with magic and characters with special characteristics. You buy your weapons and ammo every round like counter strike but you can buy magic and technical abilities as well such as teleporting(very nice) a glider that lets you jump and soar in the sky, to x ray vision that allows you to see where your enemies are. The weapons are pretty cool in addition to all of the basics you find in a game like smg, sniper, shotgun, rocket, minigun they added a sword to the weapons which i thought was a nice touch. there is really no story mode its just one team killing another

tactical shooter

Shadowrun is a tactical shooter that puts the player in round-based combat. It's very similar to Counter Strike in that it's round based, there are two opposing teams, and before each round players purchase their weapons (and for Shadowrun, magical abilities and technology). By doing well in each round the player gains money and can therefore, buy more abilities and better weapons. Also, before each game the player chooses a "race" to play as. They consist of Human, Troll, Elf, and Dwarf. Each has it's own unique pro's, con's and default ability. All these things combine to make Shadowrun the PERFECT tactical shooter. To succeed in the game you must have the skill associated with other shooter (like aiming and positioning). However, because of the abilities and races Shadowrun stresses mastery of advanced tactics and teamwork. You must learn how to use each ability to it's best and you must do it in a way that supports your team. Many complain that Shadowrun lacks a campaign, but it was designed for flawless competitive play, and that's what it excels at.

Best 360 Multiplayer Experience Yet

Do not buy this unless you have xbox live. I started playing this game about 2 days ago and i am so hooked. The gameplay is about like counterstrike with better graphics and more characters. The weapons, magic and extra abilities you can use in this game are unbelievable. I played the training missions and gave up on it real quick till one day i had a friend invite me to a multiplayer map and once i got a real feel for the controls and weapons it was on. I played it over 12 hours just yesterday alone. This is a must for competitive gamers and is very cheap on the budget. Just buy it u will not be disappointed.

PS2 Quality Shooter for 360.

The studio that made this game has closed it's doors and they apparently knew about the closure at the start of Shadowrun's development. The quality of the game reflects what i'm sure was low office morale.
This game could be played on a PS2 or Xbox Classic, it isn't even close to being 'next gen' quality. With only a handful of maps, 3 game types, 4 races and no single player, this game gets old fast.
On a positive note, with the inclusion of tech and magic, this game is easy to pick up and play but it takes time to master. Bringing a gun to the fight isnt' always your best solution to a win.
There have been three patches to the game which in some respects seem to have made it worse instead of better. The biggest issue though is without any more support from the developer, there will be nothing new added to the game via downloadable content. I would recommend you stay away from this game.

The choice of characters is good in this game. A Dwarf, A Troll, An Elf, and A Soldier. They all specialize in certain things, which makes the game interesting. For instance, the elf has shortened health, but is quick, and can use a sword. The way the combat is set out makes it an intense, and fun game. The only con about this game is the Tree of Life. The Tree of Life is thrown down to regenerate your health. However, the enemy can use your tree to heal them too, until it is destroyed.

Great Multiplayer experience

The multiplayer mode in this game is pretty average for a FPS game, but the thing that really elevates it is the customization. You have three different races (elf, human, dwarf) that are well balanced, and each can buy things like teleporting, resurrection, glider (flying), and all sorts of crazy options. By mixing up the options, there's a really deep level of play that can be achieved on the various maps. It also rewards cooperative team play.
The community that plays it is pretty consistent, so there's always someone to play online. It's just a drag that the lack of campaign mode makes it a more limited experience than it should be.

this game is a hybrid of halo and unreal. The use of magic spells and technology really adds to the FPS genre. You can summon minions, gust people around the map, resurect dead team mates and even teleport through walls... and thats not even the half of it. There is also the tech side of battle which includes a glider, smartlink which increases accuracy, wired reflexes which makes you faster, and enhanced vission which gives you the ability to see through walls! This game is never the same just beacuse you never know if someone is going to teleport through the floor or if they are going to glide down from the sky. I recomend trying this game out atleast. I LOVE IT.

When I played this game at first I thought it was totally great, I only purchased guns and swords whilst totally negating the magic abilities and various technology upgrades. The reasoing for this was I expected the game to be a carbon copy of Counterstrike, but with different races and such with other miniscule upgrades. That is not the case at all; this game requires you to adapt and use the magical abilities and technology to overcome the enemy. After attempting to use magic and tech I got fairly good at it, but it got really boring quite fast. If anyone wants to play a round-based shooting game they should head straight for Counterstrike:Source for the computer which I believe I purchased for half the price of Shadowrun with 1000% the satisfaction. Counterstrike:Source also offers free online play as well as clean graphics and great round-based combat. Overall you should avoid this title and stick to Counterstrike.

You might be thinking to yourself this games for losers when you see you can play as magical trolls and dwarfs and elves. I know i did. When i started playing the game though i couldnt stop. this is the best game for hardcore gamers. the game is intense with nonstop action. if you dont have live though dont even think about buying this game because it has no campain. the achivements are all fun and theyre some really funny ones like "shadowrun fever" which is a secret achivement where you get 25Gamerscore for just teabagging someone who is dead who already has the achievement. the game never gets old is tthe bottom line and if uve never heard of it the reason is because the producers of the game broke up with Microsoft so there isnt much advertising for the game.

You can play this game multiple times and it is never the same. Each round is different because there are so many different combinations that work well against others. It does kinda remind me of a giant game of capture the flag though.

I love everything about this game. It's basically counter strike with magic. Each race it very well balanced. There is no clear cut better race, they all are good with different things depending on what type of player you are. The same goes with the magic spells. Many of the spells counter act each other. Shadowrun has a steep learning curve because you have to figure what combinations of magic with each race works well. But that is part of the fun, playing around with different combinations.

This game is nothing like the super nintendo or sega genesis version. I was very disappointed in it. I did not like the graphics. The game was not too hard to play either which was its upside. But I am angry I wasted the money on it. I wish they would have stayed a little closer to the original games and some of the storybooks.
