Can Suck Chrome Off A Trailer Hitch
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've never written a review for a vacuum cleaner so please bare with me. The Shark Navigator Swivel is one lean, mean, sucking machine! This model is much better than the previous Hoover it replaces. The swivel head really comes in handy with trying to maneuver around tight spaces in the living and bedrooms. The included HEPA filter really helps keep any bad smells from escaping while cleaning and this thing is darn near silent compared to most vacuum cleaners. Assembly took me about fifteen minutes once I got all the pieces out of the box. In all honesty if I hadn't assembled it in a near dark room and read the instructions it would have probably taken around five minutes. That's my fault and not the fault of Shark. Assembly was very efficient and this thing feels solid. Maybe a bit heavier than I expected or am used to but considering the quality of this machine that is a good thing. The included filters need to be cleaned every three months according to the book and emptying the canister is a breeze. Pros: Outstanding cleaning power. Solid feel. Swiveling head. Lots of cleaning accessories included. Cons: I only have one con. The canister is rather large on the top of the vacuum cleaner which can make it difficult to vacuum under beds or low tables. Not a biggie in my book. Overall I will definitely buy from this company again when the need comes and I have no problem recommending this to others.

A little shark with Big bite
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Okay, I have to admit, I'm one of those "seen one vaccum, you've seen all vacuums" people. But I may have to say this little vac has tricks. Not only is it great for small apartments and dorms (The size is perfect) but, if you've got a modest home, like myself, this will more than fit your needs. Pets don't stand a chance trying to shed on the couch. With the sweet pet hair tool (that needs it's own docking station. I'll get to that. ) sucks up every piece of fur in it's wake. It's powerful, for something so small. The swiveling base is a little awkward at first, but that passes quickly. It comes with the smaller tools that you normally get with a vacuum (dust brush/ crevice tool) but that added pet hair power brush is fierce. The vacuum is comfortable (believe me, you want that. ). It also has a cool feature that allows the brush to rise safely so I can vacuum the tile and hardwood floors. The bagless reservoir is super easy to detach and clean. My 7 year olds can even operate it. The only issue I have is that awesome pet hair power brush has nowhere to live on this machine. So you'll have to remember where you stashed between uses. I highly recommend the Shark Navigator Swivel NV26 to anyone in need of a new vac. Especially if you've got a small to medium living space. This is not a bad purchase.

Great suction, hard to push!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had heard such good things about Shark vacuums so picked this up from the local Best Buy. I was so disappointed! It works fine on bare floors but on carpet you need horses to pull it. Stay away if you have a bad back.

Light and Mighty... keep clear of the cat!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.SHARK NAVIGATOR SWIVEL Wife is absolutely in love with this vacuum from the first time she used it. Very light and easy to maneuver, and the compact swivel head gets under and around furniture much easier than the "hard headed" standard vacuum. Most newer models of vacuum seem to have their own methods for cleaning filters, traps, and cups >> this one is no different but a quick Y-Tube search found good instructions and once you see which buttons and catches to push/release it's easy to empty and do the occasional deep clean for the filters. Would be nice to have an "auto retract" cord, which is missed from the old vacuum that was replaced, but not much of a concern as the Shark Navigator is so much easier to use. The suction is amazing for such a compact unit! Don't get near the cat or you might have a fur-lined canister before you know it! Long extension and tool hose, and the hose construction seems very sturdy for long life - don't think this one will pull apart from stretching it out to reach the top of the blinds. Good feature is the ability to quickly use either straight vacuum or quickly activate the brush for carpet. Older model always runs with the carpet beater bar spinning, which is OK I guess but turning it off on the Shark avoids the scuff marks on the wood floor. Carpet beater bar does a fantastic job of extracting the dirt from the carpet pile without grabbing the carpet or winding threads around the axle. Overall a good machine to make cleaning easier with a powerful vacuum to get everything from wall to wall, and under the furniture.

Great vacuum
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The vacuum was easy to assemble. I had a little trouble inserting the handle, but it was my fault for not following the directions properly. It is nice looking and lightweight at 15 lbs. I like the slim footprint and very easy to store away. Vacuum works great and really sucks up the dirt. The small size allows me to reach places I had to manually sweep before with my old clunky vacuum. The Navigator Swivel is easy to maneuver and actually, I was able to do my house in a much shorter time. I especially like the way it is easy to transition from carpet floors to hardwood/vinyl flooring. The vacuum comes with on board tools. At first I didn’t think the wand tool would reach my ceilings to capture my resident spider web, but the flexible hose expands enough to work very well. There is an anti-tip hook to help secure the super stretch hose. I was pleased with the ease of using the tools. The canister was easy to empty. The directions for cleaning and maintaining the cyclonic chamber are clear and concise. I appreciate that the filters and belt never need replacing and to offer a 5-year warranty the company must be confident that their product will last. My only complaint is I wish the power cord was longer. I have had many different model vacuums over the years and I would definitely rate this as 5 Stars, as it fits my needs very well.

Quality device, quality build, simple features
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Shark Swivel Navigator is an unremarkable but quality vacuum. Suction is great, it comes with numerous attachments, and it’s easy to empty the dirt cup. I was given some pause when I first turned it on because the brush roller didn’t turn on. I glanced at the manual (yes, I’m the type of person who charges in without reading the manual), and I learned that the power button is a two stage affair. Pressing the button a little will turn the vacuum on in hard floor mode. Pressing the button a little farther down will turn it on in carpet mode and turn on the brush roller. The hose is somewhat awkward. It’s very long, and while they manage to make it look very clean and tidy in the marketing materials, it’s a little difficult to store it on the machine in real life. That being said, it’s a very long hose, and kudos to Shark for that. The power cord is also very long. Unfortunately, it’s not retractable. I can’t figure out where to store the one hose attachment on the vacuum. I’m not sure that you can. It’s a nice attachment though with a velvety strip for grabbing pet hair. All in all, I was suitably impressed by this vacuum. It seems to do an excellent job, and the machine’s build feels very quality.

Does the Job
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So, the teen whose job it is to vacuum was complaining about how heavy my old vacuum was to carry up the stairs and how much a pain changing the bag was. Given that the dinosaurs probably used it, that was a given. When this vacuum came in, I pointed my teen to it and said, go for it. The teen's review is that it was "easy to put together except for the screw at the handle because of the tightness of the area so it was a bit of a squeeze to do. There will be no problem carrying it upstairs as it is fairly light. It picked up everything on the carpet I tried it on and the dust cup is a bit awkward but might get better the more I use it". Real helpful so I thought I'd test drive it myself. Due to physical issues, lifting is not encouraged but I had no problems moving this from place to place. I was thrilled with the amount of pet hair this picked up, my carpet looked almost new. I hadn't realized just how much my old vacuum was no longer picking up. I like the swivel feature as it makes the vacuum very easy to maneuver without loosing any suction. It worked on my carpet as well as my wooden floor. As for the dust cup, gee, read some instructions and they tell you the easy way to open and empty. *shakes head* Kids.

Not for high pile carpet
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This vacuum is not adjustable for pile height. It works great on bare floors and low pile carpet but on high pile carpet it pushes very very hard.

Swivel Power Lifts Dirt + Pectorals
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This vacuum is for the very fit or for the times when you want to build pectorals. Nonetheless, redeeming values are as follows: • Set up is a simple and quick process; but, wise to look at the guide. • Suction is super powerful, certainly a function of the heavy engine. So, when doing small rugs, I stand on both ends to prevent losing the fabric into the head. • The crevice tool and the brush tool are mounted conveniently on the body of the vacuum. • Another small tool with a rotating brush head can be attached to a side mounted hose. Though promoted as the tool for dog hair, I use the flexible hose and small heads for upholstered furnishings, reaching curtains, getting under furniture and giving the flat and vertical planes of carpeted stairs a deep dry cleaning. • Most convenient is that no bags are required. When filled with dirt, I pop out the canister for a quick’n easy dump into my compost tumbler. But, heed the warning not to bend the screen inside the canister. • On days when truck nuts are on, the small head and crevice tool thoroughly whisk up dust from mulch and deliveries of yard waste to the transfer station. Since I have owned a variety of Navigators, I have a good basis for comparison. So, in my very busy life, I favor my cordless Navigator that is light weight and can be easily wielded without cord management. Maybe 2-3 times a quarter, I’ll have the time and attitude to ‘man-up’ with the Swivel for a deep, top to bottom house cleaning. A young couple may not have the resistance I have to a heavy machine; but, at 64, 5’6”, 130 lbs and even though I work out, I get into workout mode to reach for a power tool of that weight whether it’s the lawn mower, hedge clippers, leaf blower, weed wacker or my Shark Navigator Swivel. And, as a female homeowner, I DIY most things rather than spend the money on something I can do myself. Moreover, I haven’t made this mistake yet; but, have your wits on ‘vigilance’ to prevent having the trouble of an engine stall when you’ve inadvertently sucked up a small rug or curtain and have to remove it from the large power head. Ample warnings are written in the manual and the instructions are clear and easy; but, I never like having to stop mid chore to correct something I did to myself. Bottom-line, with the Swivel, you will get super clean if you can power lift. But, if you buy things on line for a better price point, it’s a good idea to do a test run in a local store to check maneuverability for your height and weight. At 6’4”, 220, my guy easily gets his swerve on with the Swivel. And, we both love the 5 year warranty not seen with less durable machines.

great features
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The only reason I gave it a 4 star was because you can't change the height of the vacuum to adjust to the height of your carpet. We have 3 different types of carpet in our house. The Shark works great on a very low cut area rug (15'x8') that is in our living room. It also works well on the upstairs carpet that is medium pile carpet. But the area rug in our family room is very high pile and trying to push the Shark through that took a lot of arm strength. I'm a big guy having trouble and when I let my wife try she could barely push it. The Shark does have the most suction of any vacuum I have ever used though. My dog likes to chew on wood logs and when he does he leaves wood shrapnel all over the carpet. This Shark sucked every last splinter and dog hairs out of the carpet. When I finished just the living room I could not believe how much stuff was in the canister. It is an amazing sucker!!! The canister is small and will probably need to be emptied after every use though, but that fine with me. I really love the small and thin vacuum head. I was able to get 4 or 5 inches under our furniture where our old vacuum couldn't even fit under the furniture without lifting it. Another plus is that you can turn off the rollers to vacuum hardwood floors. Our old vacuum says it can work on hardwood floors but with the roller spinning it just shoots the debris out the sides and back of the vacuum. But this is ingenious. You just turn the rollers off at the switch, vacuum the hardwood, and that great suction of the shark pulls everything on the floor up into the canister, The swivel part didn't really come in to play at our house but I can see where it would benefit homes where there is a lot of walls and furniture to go around. All in all a really good vacuum

Great for older-ish parent(s)!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My mother takes great pride in keeping her townhouse clean and spiffy. Prior to this vacuum, she had an older bag type model which, even for me was heavy and hard to maneuver. So I thought, who would appreciate this vacuum more than her? After helping her get it out of the box and setup (easy! She could have done it, but I wanted to be the helpful son a little but!) she was amazed by how light the unit was. Upon turning it on, she could tell instantly that it was much more powerful than the old one. Having two cats in her home, she went around looking for cathair to pick up, and she was pleased by how this picked it up on the first pass. The other big item she wanted me to mention was how easy it was to maneuver the shark! She was zooming up and down the hallways and rounding corners like she was a race-car driver! The true hepa filtration ensures that all the nasties don't come shooting back out and makes the air cleaner (peace of mind on my part). Currently she has the attachments connected, vacuuming the furniture! Needless to say, she is very pleased. That makes two of us! I'm glad that she can now perform her cleaning tasks easier than before! I, and she, definitely recommend this shark vacuum to anyone! Just get it!

Good vacuum
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Shark NV26 is small but heavy. The packaging says lightweight, but my old full size vacuum weights in at 13.8 lbs. The Shark weights in at 16.8 lbs, 3 lbs heavier with a smaller beater brush area. The weight in your hand while using it is 3.4 lbs. My old vacuum was 2.4 lbs. I know that's not a big difference, but for someone older or with hand/arm issues, this could be a deal breaker. The pet brush attachment is fantastic. It actually picks up pet hair. I have used many attachments that say they pick up pet hair, but this one actually does. It has a smaller foot print so storage is easier. It is much quieter than most vacuums. It moves around the carpet like it's self propelled. You can select whether you want the beater brush on or off. My old vacuum had 8 in Hg suction, this one has 12 in Hg. Much better. The beater brush is smaller, 9.5" VS my old one at 12.5" My old one had better edge cleaning but you have attachments to take care of that. With a smaller beater brush area and higher suction the cleaning seems to be deeper. I wonder if the beater brush would be up to a higher pile carpet. Mine are very tight and short. The beater brush is run by it's own motor, and is small compared to a conventional vacuum. Only time will tell if it holds up. Over all I would say it's a good vacuum. Good suction, almost self propelled, easy to keep clean. I have 3 small issues with it. Beater brush size means it will take longer to clean a room. At one point while assembling it you actually have to install a bolt. Not going to be good for some people. Edge cleaning is not as good as it could be. The beater brush head is 11.25" wide but the brush is only 9.5". That's 7/8" of edge that has no beater brush on each side.

Easy Set Up, Picked up Lots of Dust!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Shark Navigator Swivel (NV-26) may or may not be their best model, but it did a great job of picking up dirt and dust. Being allergic to dust, this vacuum actually made me feel more comfortable in my own home after the first run. I could feel the suction power as I was pulling it over the rug, it was almost resisting my pull in certain spots the suction was so strong. For day to day vacuuming, we often rely on the robot vacuums, but this shark clearly demonstrated the huge amount of dirt and dust that they are leaving behind. The wide upholstery tool did a decent job for the sofas as well

Great around the house vacuum
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I recieved this in exchange for my honest review... Great vacuum for around the entire house. The swivel head make cleaning around furniture a breeze. The added attachment is nice, for spot where the vacuum head wont fit. The detachable hose is long enough to reach without having to move the vacuum body alot. Only downside imo, is lack of a retracting cord...

Meh
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I received this vacuum from Shark through Best Buy. Right out of the box it was simple to assemble. It has 3 attachments 1 of which has no where to put on the vacuum. It is the pet attachment. I wanted to tryout this vacuum because I have 3 dogs one of which sheds horribly while the other two shed very little. Once together I start it up. It's quite. But that's where the nice features end. I don't even finish half the room and it clogs right away. The floor in question is hardwood. There is a long path for the dirt to travel. I received a Dyson from Best Buy earlier this year, but without the pet attachments and it has given me no problems. It also has a short travel path for the dirt to the canister. The Shark vacuum might work better if you have no pets or pets that don't shed very much.
