I just opened & used my new Shark Power direct corded vacuum for the first time, & I was impressed! I see why it has 5 stars! The suction is great!! The power almost drives itself, so you dont really have to push it much at all. (Which w/ degenerating disc in my low bk is wonderful!!) I have had my own solo cleaning business for almost 12 yrs, so I have used a lot of different vacuumes. (Including dyson sticks, which dont have much power to me. The only thing I like about that one, is it blows cold air on you, not warm or hot). I bought this for my home use, but would love another just for work. I think it'd help my back a lot. Pictures are in this order.... I first used it on a large living room rug I have ,it got up quite a bit, even though I had just vacuumed a couple days ago w/ a not so powerful cordless. The 2nd picture is from 2 carpeted bedrooms, (including under the bed, which is why I love a stick vac!) & the 3rd, is from using the furnature attachment on the cat tree. Over all, from someone who has used a variety of vacuumes, I am seriously impressed!

I love this corded lightweight stick vacuum. The only thing I would change is the scented thing. I do not like the scent.

Strong suction in hard floors and carpet. It has 3 settings (hard floors, carpet or auto detect). Happy with my purchase.

I researched multiple corded and cordless stick vacuum cleaners before ultimately choosing this Shark PowerDetect Corded Stick Vacuum. Consumer Reports rated this particular model at the top of their list so that helped in making the decision. I LOVE IT!!! It's noticeably lighter than my old (20 year old) upright Dyson AND the suction is equivalent to it or better. I love that it automatically detects the flooring and switches the vacuum mode for you between carpet and bare floors. Its only irritation is that it will try to "eat" certain smaller carpets. Currently its appetite seems limited to a foam stress pad in my kitchen and two little shag carpets in my bathroom. For some bizarre reason, it's totally fine and works flawlessly with a small shag carpet in front of my side door as well as the small carpet in my dining room. Shark advertises that the roller brush is self-cleaning. It does not have bristles so you don't end up with hair and other fluffy things wrapped around the roller that need to be extracted with a scissors and plenty of tugging. I used to only use an attachment when vacuuming my bathroom floor in order to avoid getting hair in the roller. With the Shark, that is not necessary. It speeds up the cleaning process as I'm not constantly having to mess with attachments all of the time. Between my medium length hair and my two cats, the self-cleaning brush roll is a huge plus! It still picks up everything in its path including little bits of kitty litter that seem to get everywhere. The Shark gets under almost every piece of furniture I own. I used to have to constantly toggle between using the regular vacuum and its attachments with the Dyson. Now, I primarily only use the attachments when I want to clean the upholstery. As stated above, vacuuming goes much faster as a result. The vacuum is highly maneuverable. You don't have to struggle with getting it to pivot in and around objects and corners. Another great feature is that when you do want to clean upholstery or maybe your vehicle, the canister detaches from the stick and provides you with a handheld vacuuming option. About the only minus with the Shark is that it has just 2 places that hold attachments even though they give you 3 attachments. So, you have to leave one attachment behind in your closet or wherever. But again... not a big deal since I rarely need to use the attachments. The capacity of the dust bin canister is definitely much smaller than that of an upright vacuum cleaner. It’s about a ninth of the capacity of my old Dyson. This means that you will empty the Shark’s canister at least once during a cleaning cycle. But that process is super simple and the contents can be dumped out over a trash can. Takes just a few seconds. There are a couple of filters, HEPA and otherwise, that will need to be rinsed out periodically. But, again, it is easy and fast. As for having a cord, I really don't mind. Since it’s corded, you don’t have to worry about a battery wearing out. And you don’t have to worry about installing a recharging unit on your wall and waiting several hours for your vacuum’s battery to recharge. Your Shark will always operate at full power. As for having a cord, I have found that for a 2000 square foot home, I only have to plug my Shark in two locations in order to get to every inch of the house. I fully recommend the Shark PowerDetect Corded Ultralight Stick Vacuum and have already recommended it to family.

Shark is the only vacuum brand to own...excellent suction, the best and strongest, easy to manover and this model is fantastic with lights and odor control and best of all easy to empty!!! No bags!!! The extra attachments work great especially the pet attachment thats like a small brushroll handheld vacuum for furniture or stairs...wonderful! I have an earlier version of the corded stick vacuum that still works great and bought this one as it automatically goes from carpet to floor for cleaning pickup...love this feature, it really works fantastic! I also have a Electrolux central vacuum system up and downstairs in my home and the suction in that is as good as my Shark which is easier to take out and use so Shark is as good a suction if not better...you gotta love Shark!

I bought this vacuum because my upstairs dyson died. So far I really like this one, it is smaller and lighter, and can fit into places that my regular vacuum couldn't. When I first was setting it up, i tried it down stairs on my family room carpet and it did a great job, maybe better than my downstairs animal dyson. I also like how the top releases and becomes a handheld. I haven't had any complaints about the cord lenth. The only disadvantage is that the dust collector is small and has to be emptied frequently. I'm not sure I'd want it for my main vacuum, but it works perfectly for my needs.

Love this vacuum and I hate to clean. It is lightweight, manuvers well and has great suction. Wanted one with a Hepa filter because of asthma. One thing I don't like is the odor eliminator disc. It smells gross and would surely set off an asthma attack. But you can just leave it out.

This is a great vacuum! It’s lightweight and very maneuverable. When it arrived I used my old vacuum first throughout my entire home. Then I immediately vacuumed using this one. The amount of dirt it picked up was very impressive.

I know what people say once they use this vacuum for the first time is why didn’t I get this 10 years ago. I love this vacuum. I don’t have to move my furniture right under the bed. Nice great suction automatically. Transfers from rugs to hardwood floors and then back up to rugs again it’s pretty amazing and it only weighs 10 pounds. I’m 70 years old and I’ve had six back surgeries so I needed something light. It’s wonderful you’d be crazy not to buy it sincerely, Wanda

My wife uses these for her business due to the lightweight and excellent performance. The duo clean works well and the self cleaning brush does a good job keeping hair off the roll and into the dust bin.

I picked up this Shark vacumn cleaner on a whim since our old one is about three years old. We had a Shark rocket in the past and it was an effective vacumn in terms of ckeaning power. Assembly was easy and i was impressed with the overall power it had. It managed to pickup dirt from my living room rug that was left behind by my old vacumn that was cleaned two days before. Overall a great vacuum and highly recommend.

Excellent suction, light weight, the dual beater brushes are wonderful on carpets, the long cord is a very convenient feature. If it was a little more convenient to detach the beater brush and attach the accessories it would be ideal.

Works well for cleaning of carpet and hardwood. Takes a little getting used to with the swivel handle and light weight of the unit. Being able to remove extensions depending on the area being used on is very nice. Comments I've read on a stiff cord material are accurate, not a problem

I love this vacuum. It's lightweight and does a great job. I especially love the pet hair attachment. Nothing else has ever worked as well. Unfortunately there was an issue and I was unaware of Best Buy's return policy of only 10 days! That really complicated my need for an exchange.

This Stick Vacuum is great. It's light weight and is very efficient at removing dirt, dust and pet hair. Glad I bought it. The price was good, too.

Lightweight,but powerful. Easy to maneuver as it glides and pivots into tight areas. Seems well assembled.

It is very powerful. Cleans very well. It picks up every crumb from the carpet and normal floor.
