The suction is AMAZING! I purchased this after owning a Dyson stick vacuum that has served me well but the battery life was just not cutting it anymore. It is definitely large and cumbersome however it cleans so well it is definitely worth it. The feature that allows you to remove the cannister to get into tight spaces like under couch and bed is so convenient. The biggest complaint I have about this (minus the heaviness) is that the small motorized attachment doesn't have an articulated soleplate to it so when I am vacuuming my couch I am limited with motion and the suction is sometimes too much for the fabric of my couch I wish I could control that better. I still have my dyson that works but if I didn't I would much more bothered by this.

A solid Vacuum. It really sucks too. We had a Dyson roller ball pet and opted to try this one out instead. So far there’s been no hair wrap as advertised which nice with two girls and a dog in the house. My only knock would be that it comes with three tool attachments but only has room to hold two of them. The other would be that because it has such a strong sucking power that when using the wand extension sometimes the vacuum falls over because the hose accordions shorter yanking the vacuum base. Not a big deal so no lose of a star.

I have had many vacuums throughout the years, but this one is by far the best one I have ever had. Suction is amazing and it is quiet. The only drawback is that it is heavier than my previous ones. This is fine as it is the best in cleaning.

Multi-pet household…my dust bunnies had dust bunnies on their dust bunnies…no more!! Wow!! This thing is STRONG!! I only wish it came in a “riding” version like a mower or tractor! :-D Luckily it’s easy to maneuver for a wired vacuum. It cleans incredibly well…picks up dirt, dust, pet hair, etc. like no vacuum I’ve ever used before. My older Dyson model can’t compete. Phenomal cleaning power, versatile attachments and it leaves a light, pleasant & clean fragrance behind.

The Shark PowerDetect is a strong contender in the upright vacuum world. It boasts impressive suction, easily tackling dirt and pet hair on carpets and hard floors thanks to its DuoClean dual brush roll system. The self-cleaning brush roll minimizes hair tangles, a major plus. While it's a bit on the noisy side and the cord could be longer, the PowerDetect's performance, maneuverability, and XL dust cup make it a solid choice for most homes. Plus, the "Eggplant" color adds a touch of style!

This is my review of the Shark POWERDETECT® Upright Vacuum with DuoClean Detect™ Technology upon which I rate at 5 out of 5 stars. Out of the box, the device comes with the following attachments: duster crevice tool, pet multi-tool, and a pet power brush. All these attachments fit onboard the vacuum body except the pet power brush. The device will need some simple assembly per the owner's guide which I will not go into here. The final item to add to the device is the new odor neutralizer technology dial. In brief, this is an oder control unit that dispenses its liquid within the device to eliminate odors. This device has some great operating settings which include: Select Detect Mode - device will detect the type of floor surface (hard vs. carpet) along with wall edges and corners and adjust its motors accordingly. Manual Surface Modes - Hard Floor, Carpet/Low Pile, and Thick Carpet/High Pile. I personally like to keep the device in manual mode giving the device to perform at its maximum ability for the surface to be cleaned. This device has some great cleaning technologies which include: FloorDetect adjusts brush roll speed and suction power, DirtDetect increases the suction power when more dirt is detected in a specific area, and EdgeDetect maximizes suction power along edges and corners when the device detects these instances. For anyone not familiar with the Shark Powered Lift-Away, you will have the ability to detatch to the upright canister from the device to allow you to move the device head wtih ease around and under furniture. You also to ability to remove the wand from the device to clean hard to reach areas both hight and low. The one feature I especially like is the self-cleaning brush roll. This feature comes into play having pets or people with long hair. The device is able to clean its brush roll eliminating the need to manually detangle and cut hair from the brush roll. This device performed magnificently in my home and highly recommend it. I hope you enjoyed reading my review and it helped in your purchase decision.

this has tremendous vaccum power! the floor-type sensor works really well in transtioning between hard and carpet floors. bought this because it was top rated vac on consumer reports. festure i didnt realize i wanted and was a surprise is if you leave it on and step away it powers down a bit so its not so loud when idling. not crazy about the capret perfume odor that comes with it and it is heavy-ish.

A little heavier than my past vacuums; however, it excels at hosing up cat hair, which is the bulk of my vacuuming needs. Love the attachments and make use of them always. Also, the ability to separate the shaft from the rest of the vacuum increases the overall usefulness of the vacuum

This is a pretty great vacuum. Pros: *Great suction, it got super deep down. *Easy to maneuver (but it is heavy) *I have always LOVED the headlights on a Shark *lots of accessories *The carpet feels very clean after *Nice long cord *GIANT dirt canister Cons: *a bit too sensitive to shut down if it feels the brushroll is stuck *not the best on thin rugs *heavy *Very expensive

I am very pleased with the suction power and versatility and features of this machine. The amount of dirt, debris, and pet hair that I vacuumed up in rooms that I thought were previously clean was incredible. I like the versatility of the machine. The powered brush roll. Accessory works very well; is very powerful. The machine does tip easily when the wand and hose are removed, that will take some getting used to. make sure to have the setting on area rugs when doing throw rugs. The cord is a bit thick and heavy as others have mentioned. It does get stuck on itself. I would prefer it to be more flexible and lighter. I am very pleased with how well it goes from carpeting to flooring. This is one of the best machines I’ve ever used at cleaning tile and hardwood floors. I do wish the hose was a bit longer and more flexible as well. Overall, I highly recommend this vacuum cleaner.

I was very hesitant at spending this much on a vacuum at first but wow I’m so glad I did. I’ve never owned a vacuum with this level of suction and ease. I have an almost 3 and 1 year old. Naturally a mess and crumb trail follow them wherever they go, this vacuum one pass gets all of it. Works really well on our shaggy area rug, hard wood, and short carpet areas as well as furniture.

So far this vacuum cleaner has worked reasonably well. It does have a tendency to rev up on occasion. The overall performance has been very favorable. I have used the cleaner 7 times. It does vacuum up everything and has excellent suction and power. The ease of use is another plus. I would recommend this product.

This is BY FAR the best vacuum we have ever owned, and we've had them all. The suction is unbeatable, and might I say almost too powerful at times! You know those car wash vacuums that are so powerful they're almost hard to manage? That's what I would compare the suction power of this vacuum to. It's a little on the heavier side, but for the suction power it's worth it in my opinion. Good long cord too!

It is a little heavier and bulky than I would like. It does have a weird smell coming from it. I think it is the hose, honestly. Hopefully that will fade away. The suction power is pretty awesome though; let's just hope it stays that way for a long time.

Crazy good suction. Heavier than past Sharks, but really takes care of my Labrador-able's shedding.

GREAT VACUUM DOES EXCELLENT JOB ON SUCTION, KINDA HIGH PRICED, IT IS LITTLE HEAVY TO PUSH , BUT IT SEEMS LIKE WHEN U PUSH IT. IT TAKES OFF, THATS A HELP. WISH IT WAS SELF PROPELLED LIKE THE KENMORES VACUM AT SEARS LONG TIME AGO FOR THAT KIND OF MONEY IT SHOUKD BE SELF PROPELLED..IT DOES GREAT JOB VACUMING , HAD IT 3 MTHS GONFAR

Could be better for this price point. It definitely has the best vacuum suction power but it doesn’t stay constant. It will slow down and not detect dirt so it stops suction.

Awesome. Love it, recommend it. If I were to pass along anything to a perspective buyer, understand it's about 16-17lbs., which is heavier than normal, but a sign of the strong motor (great suction). You can carry the canister (without the rotating head), but the roller is so strong without the weight of the canister, it can be a little unwieldy. Still a 5 out of 5 for me. Love it.

Vacuum is little on the heavy side but glides across carpet and bare floors with extreme ease. It has picked up dirt that we didn’t know was there and we have bare floors in 90% of our home. And with 3 GSDs, it never clogs with their hair
