After years of watching the Shark infomercials on tv, convinced they were just over-price 2nd rate equipment. I can tell you with the Shark Flex DuoClean, I’m a believer.
Yes, you have to snap the pieces together once you take them out of the box. It was very intuitive and took longer to get everything out of the box then it did to put it together and begin sweeping.
The build of the DuoClean is solid and well done. The cord is long enough to clean almost my whole 2-bedroom apartment without having to change plugs.
As soon as I got the unit built, I had to plug it in and start sweeping. The Shark has a two-position thumb switch which is well placed and easy to use. The switch controls the rotation speed on the power head as the base only has one speed. The first position turns on the vacuum motor and the power head to a low speed which is perfect for bare floors. The second position speeds up the power head beaters but the vacuum head stays the same.
When you switch the unit on the the 2nd position, hold on to it tight! The beater bars have a bit of grab to them and pull the power head with some decent force. Sweeping my regular pile carpet was fairly effortless for me but could pose a bit of difficulty for some who may be of smaller stature or perhaps a bit older. This is due to the power head grab more so than the weight of the unit. Pulling it back against the pull of the beater bar will give you a work out. The power head is smaller than a full-size sweeper but was perfect for my needs. The other great thing is the height/thickness of it. I was able to get under several pieces of furniture that my other cleaners were just to large for. Another nice feature of this is the gold tube bends in the middle to make it easier to get under furniture without bending over. Again, the force of the power head makes this somewhat difficult and a two-handed operation. This bendable joint is also how the sweeper folds over for storage.
There is a clear bag less dirt container which is very easy to remove from the device and empties with the push of a lever. Like all bag less cleaners, dumping these in the trash can make a bit of a dust cloud so be gentile. I was able to clean my whole apartment without having to empty it but your mileage will vary.
For surfaces other than carpet, the Shark Flex comes with combo tools for crevices, upholstery and a really cool attachment to clean under appliances and furniture that the power head wont fit under. It’s a long flat piece that has an opening at the end. The crevice tool has a dusting brush that slides up and locks into place and the upholstery/pet tool has a ring of stiff bristles that snap off. These all fit on the motor head and are easy to use. There is a bag to hold them in.
Over all, I was really impressed with the Shark Flex DuoClean upright and would recommend it to anyone looking for a sweeper for a smaller house or apartment or as an addition to the larger sweeper for those quick pick-ups.

If you’re looking for a vacuum that picks up everything this is it. Don’t get close to rug tassels, cords or loose items on the floor. Occasional cleaning required for stick and base.

Great Vacuum, Very Versatile!

This vacuum has been great! I've been able to do both my hard wood floors and carpet with this vacuum, as well as get under my furniture without moving them around like I usually do when cleaning.
Pros: My favorite thing about this is how they put a lot of thought into the design as far as attaching, detaching, and transitioning the vacuum into it's different modes. The levers you're required to squeeze or push are very easy to do so and are located and designed in a way to make them easy to reach, especially the one used for going under furniture or storage. Suction worked well on picking up pet dander and other bits off the floor and out of the carpet. The attachments work like attachments do, I especially liked the one for dusting blinds and ceiling fan blades. Emptying the dirt trap is quick and easy and cleans out nicely. Power cord is very long and I'm able to get 75% of my house without unplugging from a central location. Cleaning the soft roller and brush is a breeze and tool free. They also include a carrying bag to keep all of your accessories in.
Cons: When using the wand for anything overhead it can be pretty heavy to use. The wand has some weight to it because it's built well, but hinders the ability to hold it up for longer periods of time. Without the wand this isn't an issue as accessories will attach without the wand, but this may limit reach. I found the exhaust coming out of the vacuum and on to my hand can be a bit annoying. The vacuum doesn't stand up due to the design, instead, you have to fold it into storage mode or lean it against something to prevent it from falling to the floor. Storage mode didn't appear to have any way to hang it on a wall.
Other thoughts: This is a great vacuum and I love how it cleans my floors and I'm impressed with the build quality and engineering that went into the build and design. I would have liked to have seen a lighter extension wand, a way to hang this on my wall, and the air exhaust to go in a different direction.

Lightweight and moves easily over wood and carpet

I’ve had a few similar products over the years, all with varying degrees of usefulness. So far this vacuum has been great! It’s lightweight and moves over hardwood and carpet easily, picking up everything in its way. The attachments, especially the under appliance one, are really helpful in getting every square inch of your house cleaned. With 3 cats and a dog there’s a lot of pet hair, and this does the job of finding it all. My only real complaint is that it’s a bit top heavy when you have it upright, so you can’t just let it stand there if you go to move something – it will topple over. The cord is extra-long as well, which is a plus so you aren’t having to constantly plug it in into the nearest outlet.

---------------
SharkFLEX DuoClean Corded Ultra-Light Vacuum
Duster Crevice Tool
Pet Multi-Tool
MultiFLEX™ Under-Appliance Wand
Accessory Bag
Assembly
--------
The assembly was quick and i was able to put it together in 10 minutes flat. Super easy
Build
-----
I have a shark navigator NV391 model which i will be comparing this model HV391 with. The Build Quality with any
shark is awsome. Good quality plastic used all around and i can say that this will last a long time, as long as
suction remains good. the second part, time will tell but shark has built its reputation and it comparable to dyson
so i am thinking it should suck good!
Usage
-----
Wood & Tile
===========
This has become my Go-To-Vacuum for the every night chore that my wife forces me to do -> Vaccuum the kitchen floor
& Dining Room. My Dining room and kitchen floor is part wood and part tile. This is the PERFECT vacuum for kitchen
floor as it has the "Under-Appliance Wand", I use this attachment (once in a while, not daily) to get any food
particles under the dishwasher, refridgeator and the range. works great.
the bristles are not too rough and they do not damage the wood floor. our first level is tile+wood and i use this
through out the first level, under the sofa (The Flex comes handy) and pickup the chips and cheese puffs that my
son leaves behind.
Carpet
=====
I think it works good on carpet, but i still prefer to use my NV391 on carpet. What happens if the vacuum is top
heavy is that, you will need to use more force on carpet if it is a high pile. With the NV391 model, it is bottom
heavy and more comfortable navigating around.
Sofa and car
============
I love the fact that it has that pet multi tool which i use often to pick up debri under my sofa cushions and also
clean my car seats and floor. works great. This is where the LED light comes handly when you have to pull all the
chips and other snacks from beneath the sofa cushion
Storage
-------
It has a freestanding mode for storage which makes it stand by itself similar to any upright vacuum.
Overall
-------
I like this vacuum, its my daily goto vacuum

Perfect for smaller spaces

We might seem like Shark fanatics, heck we’ve got a full size vacuum and a garment steamer from them. This latest addition to our Shark lineup at home is a boon for my wife. It folds up to store, and when folded it’s got a remarkably small footprint which is perfect for our townhome. Second, despite its small size, it has enough suction power to clean up after our toddler’s messes. Thoughtful attachments like a flat extension to slide underneath couch/appliances is amazing, and the bearings allow for a really tight turn. The only con, which isn’t really a con if you’re picking this vacuum for the right purpose, is that all of the weight is centered on the handle by design. Therefore if you’re using it for an extended session or carrying it up and down multiple flights, I can see it getting heavy quickly.
But for a quick job in a small-medium space, I can’t see any better option with such a well-thought out and useful feature set.

A Unique Vacuum Cleaner

The SV391 has a totally different design from any other cleaner I've seen. For its light 10 pound weight it's really powerful with bright LED headlights to find the dirt.
It folds in the center to easily vacuum under tables and furniture. The motor head detaches from the unit and with the included accessories can easily clean stairs and upholstered furniture.
What does take getting used to, compared to other cleaners is the HV391's center of gravity. Since the motor is at the top of the unit instead of at the bottom it can become heavy in your hand if you're doing a lot of vacuuming. Also because of this, when the vacuum is in the operating position, it will not stand by itself, if the phone rings you need to prop it up against the wall. When folded down to its storage position with the moter near the base. It does remain upright.
Bottom line, it's a very powerful and well built lightweight cleaner, but if you were going to use it to vacuum your entire house at one time, it might become tiring in your hand. It would make a perfect second cleaner for just one or two rooms at a time.

It's not good enough

I bought this vaccum in december 2017. After one year use, I'll say that it is good while it works. The issue with the device is that the brushes underneath the main head stop brushing because debris, hair etc... sticks to them rendering them unusable. The immediate consequence it that the vacuum stops suctioning the debris and/or the dust. So, while the brushes are clear it is good. But once you had used it for a while... it is NOT good enough.

Out if the box this vacuum was a snap! No tools needed-everything just snapped together. Nice long hose means those pesky spiders don't stand a chance! I only wished the canister were a bit bigger. It folds down nicely to a small easy to hide anywhere vacuum. Oh, and top heavy when in use...

Best bang for your buck for vacuums

This is my second shark vacuum. My first one is their orange stick vac. This one has all the bells and whistles though. The dual brush head cleans wayyyy better than my last one. The cord is plenty long enough. I'd rather have a cord than worry about a battery dying or losing life over time. The canister is bigger than my last one and now I can clean my whole apartment without emptying it before I'm done. I'd buy a shark any day over those high priced dyson sticks. I could do without the flexible point in the stick tho. I don't use it and the head doesn't fit under my couch or appliances anyway

No More Broken Glass

This weekend I broke a candle my wife placed on the bathroom commode. Glass was everywhere until my handy Shark took care of the problem. Glass shatters everywhere when it breaks but my Shark was able to eat all the fragments up. I easily able to maneuver around the commode and empty my Shark. I will always buy Shark vacuums only!

Powerful compact vacuum

After the initial unpacking it first appeared that it would take a little to put together but it really was easy to put all the pieces together. Using the unit on carpet I couldn't believe how much it picked up compared to a very expensive german vacuum brand we normally use for the house. The powered floor unit once turned on almost jumped out of my hand but it was very easy to handle but powerful. This vacuum is worth the money in my opinion.

Better performing than a Dyson

I've had TWO Dysons in less than (8) years. I wanted to love them (I paid enough & it's pitched as if they're the best thing since sliced bread). But, after the 2nd Dyson broke, I wanted a new brand. A friend of mine has a house cleaning business & recommend Shark uprights. I was at BB & noticed this stick vacuum on clearance. Price seemed worth trying (about $150).
[PROS]
quick to assemble, simple design (to empty/clean canister, unclog), long cord, lays flat to reach under furniture, good suction (even on carpet), powerful "dust buster" & shorter crevice tool means I can reach small places in my car, slim design & compact to store.
[CONS]
can't stand upright when pausing use (have to lay down), slightly tiring to hold but not heavy, chunkier items are not easily sucked up (bigger debris does not go under head to get sucked up -- because there's not much clearance under head. Small debris is fine.).
