This is a good vacuum. It seems to be well built. It has a solid feel to it and cleans well. We did not use the smelly thing that comes with it, so to have the option to remove it is nice.

    Great Lightweight Full Size Vacuum!!

The Shark Stratos Upright Vacuum is a powerful and lightweight addition to the Shark lineup. Initial setup was super easy and breezy. Took less time to put it together then it did to unpack it, which is always nice! This particular model comes with an Odor Neutralizer style plug in that snaps into the base of the vacuum. Three attachments come as well with a narrow suction tube, a flat T style piece and a Powerfins HairPro attachment to use on stairs and furniture. This will be my third Shark vacuum and they always seem to make a solid product that can really withstand the common household use. The previous model I had that compared most to this would be the Apex Duo Clean. I really put that vacuum through some tough tasks, including vacuuming an entire upstairs worth of dust that had accumulated under carpet that we ripped up when we moved in. It’s still running fine, but a new vacuum makes the wife happy so here we are. The Stratos is lighter in weight compared to my earlier Apex but it sure doesn’t lack suction power. One thing that I think is important with a vacuum is how does it roll while in use? Is it effortless and glide well while still getting the job done? The answer with the Stratos is Yes to both. It is a very powerful vacuum that feels good rolling across the floor and it sure picked up a lot of dust off my area rug as you can see in the photos. It works almost too good as you sometimes can’t believe how much dust it actually is pulling when you consider your house to be "clean". It has three power settings for Hard Wood, Carpet Low Pile and Thick Carpet/Area Rug. I found them all to be appropriate suction settings. The only thing I will warn about in my usage so far is the Powerfins attachment on Hard floor is a bit much. It’s REALLY powerful, almost too powerful. The middle setting is the sweet spot with that attachment. The nice thing about these attachments and the brush rolls underneath is that they're made of a plastic that seems to do well with hair. I vacuumed upstairs where my wife travels most and didn't notice nearly as much hair buildup in the main brushes compared to my Apex Duo. When it came to empty the vacuum it is super easy to dispose of waste. With a click of a button the middle compartment releases and you can take it over to the trash can and release your dust with a back lever press. The middle unit as a whole will also detach as well for use on stairs and hard to reach places. The main brush can turn into a longer attachment that can go under couches. The odor neutralizer in the new model is a nice touch as often vacuums can start to smell like dust when you vacuum often so it no doubt helps with that over time, but will ultimately need to be replaced. Not a big deal but time will only tell how long the cartridges last. Overall I was very impressed with the performance of the Stratos Upright Vacuum from Shark. It is a versatile vacuum with a ton of suction power and a lightweight frame with good attachments that make it a great purchase for any household in America. I highly recommend it, and the Shark Brand!

I bought this to upgrade from a smaller shark model which i absolutely loved. This is the worst vacuum I have ever owned. Sure, it has a lot of power for the first five minutes, but it absolutely cannot handle pet hair as it advertises. The hair gets stuck inside of the plastic “self-cleaning brushroll” (where it attaches to the vacuum) and the vacuum starts to smell like it’s burning. The place where the hair is getting stuck is completely inaccessible (even after spending an hour and a half trying to pull out what i could, it still won’t work correctly) This is coming from a two cat home which is vacuumed daily, and happened on the very first use, on two separate machines (I thought the first one was defective, and exchanged for a new one). Absolutely AVOID at all costs if you have carpet or pets.

    Best Shark Vacuum yet!

We've purchased several of the Shark vacuums in the past 15+ years and there have been some really good ones, but this one works the best so far imo. Although the wife seems to think this one is a lot heavier than previous models, I don't feel that it is. It definitely has more suction power than the previous ones for sure. (insert the wise cracks.. lol) I really like the odor neutralizer feature they added too. This really helps us only due the fact we have a ton of dog hair its picking up. The overall smell is not as "stinky" as its been in the past, so this really works well. I would highly recommend this model. It does it all from hard flooring to carpet with a flip of a switch.

Crazy strong suction; takes tons of maintenance

It's overall a good vacuum with crazy strong suction; sometimes too much. It is also VERY heavy and not easy to lug up and down stairs or around a large home I'd say. The upside there though is that taking the canister off to vacuum the stairs is fairly easy. It sort of turns into a hand vac, which is useful, even in my car. Secondly, when will vacuum companies finally create a storage area for all these attachments? They are all great and fairly simply to use, but a storage on the vacuum would make sense. Nonetheless, here are my pros and cons for this Shark vacuum. PROS Turns very easily; I LOVE this Vacuum has a light for dark areas Easy empty dust cup Self cleaning brush! (Bye bye annoying hair being wrapped around the cleaning brush :) Nice long cord for large areas CONS Suction is overwhelming Design of where the high-low suction button is (right on the handle; very easy to accidentally change) Hose is way too short! Vacuum is often falling over when I use this option Price point ( For over $400, every "con" seems like something that should have been addressed already) My last complaint would be that I don't have the "carpet lines" with this one (and I love those!), because of the Power Fins, the brushes usually leave those better. Nonetheless, once you get past the quirks and minor issues, this is a pretty well rounded vacuum. I'd recommend for sure.

Excellent Upgrade from my old Vacuum!

We’ve all been there. The vacuum we have been using for such a long time is now starting to break down and now it is time to start looking for a new one… I was in that position and am glad this one came to fruition. The Shark Stratos upright vacuum is a pricier option when it comes to vacuums, but I have concluded that this vacuum is certainly worth the cost. The many cleaning modes that this vacuum has to offer, and power are all new to me, and worth it if you want to seriously have a deep clean of the items you are vacuuming. This is my review of the Shark Stratos upright vacuum. *TLDR at the bottom ================== IN THE BOX/SET-UP: Be sure to pay attention to the bottom flap of the box upon opening it. There is an assembly guide and item list. In the box, you will get the wand, vacuum pod, handle/hose, floor nozzle, odor-neutralizing dial, upholstery tool, crevice tool, self-cleaning pet power brush, and the owner’s guide. Setup does not take long at all. Simply connect the parts together like Legos and add the odor-neutralizing dial into the floor nozzle, and that’s it! Now it’s time to start the dreadful task of vacuuming. Well, I dreaded the task of vacuuming but since obtaining this vacuum it did add some excitement to the chore I once absolutely despised. ================== BUILD QUALITY/DESIGN AND COMFORT: The Stratos feels like a quality-built vacuum. From the wand. to the nozzle, I haven’t found anything that feels cheaply built. One item that seems to break first (at least in my case) is the brush rolls. Usually, these brush rolls can get tangled up with hair, and eventually, performance will be sacrificed, and it may ultimately break. That was the unfortunate outcome of my old vacuum. Fortunately, the two brush rolls on the Stratos feel sturdy and should be able to last a while. The included accessories also feel sturdy and should be able to take a beating too. I seriously enjoyed how Shark designed this vacuum to incorporate the many cleaning modes. The main cleaning mode is upright. The entire vacuum put together is heavy but fortunately, using it doesn’t feel heavy. The above-floor handle can be used to vacuum curtains or something within reach. The above-floor wand can be used for hard-to-reach areas like on top of cabinets. My favorite has been the lift-away where you can lift the dust bin while you are vacuuming with the other hand. This has been useful when vacuuming in small spaces like closets! There is nothing uncomfortable about any of these modes. Everything felt natural and easy. The Stratos is certainly the most comfortable vacuum I have ever used. ================= PERFORMANCE: In terms of performance, this vacuum is a beast. One would think more suction power would equal more noise but that is not the case with this vacuum. My old vacuum is a lot louder than the Stratos and it doesn’t even match the performance. It’s always nice not to be worried about going deaf while vacuuming. The Stratos has 3 settings. The setting that is the farthest from you is “hardwood floor.” I don’t have any natural hardwood floors at home, but I do have tile and used it on there. The Stratos did its job wonderfully and managed to pick up debris off the ground. The second setting is “carpet/low pile.” I have a bedroom with low carpet and decided to use this mode on it. My sister tends to shed lots of hair and I managed to pick up the hair with no problem. The final setting is “thick carpet/area rug.” Our second living room has this type of carpet, so we decided to use the vacuum here. All I can say is wow, our carpet was seriously disgusting. I vacuumed over this area a couple of times since there is a lot of foot traffic and even after vacuuming a couple of times, there always seemed to be debris coming out of the carpet. Suction power is top-notch with this vacuum. The attachments and different modes work just as well too! ================== CONCLUSION: Overall, the Stratos has been an excellent upgrade from my old vacuum. My old vacuum broke down a while ago and since then I have been contemplating which vacuum to buy since there are so many! I can assure you that one will not be disappointed with the Shark Stratos. This vacuum is in an all-in-one package with various cleaning modes that can assist you in your cleaning. Along with the cleaning modes, I found that the Stratos completely outperformed my old vacuum in terms of suction power. You may even find some unwanted hidden treasures deep within your carpets! Seriously, I found out lamentably that our living room carpet was ridden with dirt and debris. If you are in need of a new vacuum, I do wholeheartedly recommend you give this one a shot. You won’t be disappointed!
