I purchased this as a gift for my son. I did not hear it before buying. When he opened it and played it....amazing sound! Just as clear and good as my 400 blue tooth that i have. At full volume its a hair distorted for based, but its not a home theater. For under 50.00 I would highly recommend to buy. Plus its almost indestructible...which is great for my son.

I was looking for something durable at an affordable price. I was not disappointed. This little speaker has amazing sound quality with a great battery life. Worth every penny in my book.

This is a great product! I've used it at our cottage in northern Michigan out on the deck for hours. When it began sprinkling one afternoon, we sat under the deck umbrella while the speaker got wet and it didn't miss a beat. I thought I might be able to use it out on the dock, as well, but the one weakness in the unit is that range of use is quite limited. I estimated about a 40 feet range from its Bluetooth source. That said, it is still a nice addition to my iPad. I decide what I want to listen to, cue it up on the iPad and the speaker connects easily--after the initial pairing set up which is also easy. Given it's also dust proof I expect I'll also use it in my wood shop without concern about damaging it as a result of exposure to the sawdust. Other positives are: 1. clear voice confirmations on board the speaker. 2. audio cues when the battery is low. 3. Easy to use function buttons on the top of the speaker. 4. Quick pairing with smartphones with a button on top to speed up the connection process. (I don't have a smartphone so did not use this.) 5. A heavy duty stuff sack in which speaker and power cord can be kept which is helpful so I don’t forget to what device the power cord belongs. 6. A helpful strap for handling the speaker. 7. Long battery life. (It lasted 8+ hours on a single charge.) 8. Easy to follow instructions. 9. Additional options for connecting to other speakers, etc. via hard wire. 10. LED lights providing a quick indication of battery strength. Weakness: 1. The range of use, due to the limitations of Bluetooth technology. 2. I did find it cutting out from time to time as I listened to an online radio station. It also dropped the station a few times. However, I am not sure if that was due to the Bluetooth issue or an internet connectivity issue. It was not such a serious issue that I wouldn't recommend this product. It would also be great for camping, volleyball games on the beach, picnics, etc.

The Sharkk Speakers have had a professional track record of having great quality sound. Owning a Shark Speaker for about a month, I have easily used it to its full potential. Taking this to the beach, shower, pool, and lake, I can easily say that the quality never ends. I've dropped this many times and it has never dented or broken, besides some minor scratches. The thickness of the rubber on this speaker is not the best quality, however it has a reassuring thickness to ensure that no water will fall into it. The listening time is so long, I've only changed it 3 times since receiving it. I can easily say and vouch that this speaker is worth the price and I am very pleased with the service and quality of this speaker.

The first thing that struck me about this speaker was the packaging - almost (and I have a lot of Apple kit), like opening up some of their equipment. Very neat and tidy. The speaker comes with a few surprises compared to some - connecting cables, a travel bag and a handy hanging strap. It feels nicely put together and the controls appear (to me at least) to be self explanatory. The connection options (NFC, cable and bluetooth) should satisfy most needs and in the absence of a music device, a Micro SD card with music loaded onto it can be used for playback. In terms of operation, it's really easy to use, the manual is almost superfluous - although if you aren't too familiar with Bluetooth devices it would be handy to have a read through before using. Connecting to my iPhone was easy; use the normal pairing procedure and it's pretty much instantaneous. Sound quality is surprisingly good; I have both the Bose Soundlink and Soundlink mini so I was keen to compare them. I've currently got it outside playing some ambient music and it's filling the area nicely. Two things I'd do though if I were you - mount it in a corner (I've put up a corner shelf just for this purpose) - and the sound becomes more full and rounded and the other thing (if you are using an iPhone/iPad, can't speak to WinPhone, Android etc) is to experiment with the equaliser settings and use the one that sounds best to you - it makes a big difference. So, how does it compare? Compared to the Soundlink Mini, the sound isn't as full, and you probably wouldn't expect it to be - the price difference is absolutely huge. It is however, with the right settings, much closer than you might expect and has attributes that the Bose doesn't have. It's described as waterproof - I haven't done a full immersive test but I did simulate rain by using a spray bottle whilst it was playing and had no issues whatsoever - it shruggged it off and carried on. Impressive stuff. I've given it 5 stars because it does what it sets out to do - provide a good sound at a really good price - add in the IP67 waterproof standards, its lightness (but solid construction) and all told, this is a great little speaker and will be perfect for travelling.
