Solid Microwave in Expensive Drawer Form Factor

Solid drawer microwave. While I wouldn't recommend the drawer form factor as it is typically much more expensive than other types of microwaves (especially free standing). The Sharp brand builds reliable drawer units and this one works well. The previous model we had lasted almost 20 years.

Works well. Purchased to replace same model purchased 12 years ago. Price reasonable compared to others. Do wish it came in black stainless… Buttons somewhat hard to see where we have located in lower cabinet.

Even though it is an expensive microwave, it really worth it. It adds a lot to the look of the kitchen that I just remodeled. So far it works well, no complain. I really like the open and close features, very smooth. If you are really considering remodeling and buying a drawer microwave, it is worth it!!!

This is my second microwave drawer of the same brand name. Its level of position in a cabinet helps wheelchair bound people to be able to access their food from that position and be more independent. I just love it.

We looked at some of the newer drawer style microwave and went with this older series because the opening and closing is better and if you need to you can manually open or close it if the buttons don’t work. Newer ones your screwed the the touchscreen is bad.

We are really enjoying the ease of use and speed of heating of this drawer microwave with a lot of extra features I haven’t even gotten around to trying yet. It is especially nice to not be reaching up to a wall mounted microwave and risking spilling hot liquids on ourselves as we lift out a dish. My only complaint is that the touch panel has quickly become damaged on all the buttons I use. I am sure they will take care of that, but I haven’t notified them yet ad I want to be sure to try out all the features and make sure there isn’t anything else to request repaired at the same time.

It is very handsome product, that is easy to use. It also compliments or kitchen design, and many people like the looks of the product. We are still experimenting with. As a drawer it seems easier to use in this position. So far we are happy with it.

Microwave for design and use, not an afterthought

We replaced the original Sharp microwave drawer with this upgrade. The original lasted for over 18 years when it stopped opening. We love the drawer - the placement solved so many issues for our kitchen and the drawer is truly easier to use. We never had any regrets, but given the age, we decided to replace rather than repair. This newer model is even better. This model has some updated styling that gives more capacity, eliminates the catch shelf for crumbs at the "handle" you weren't supposed to use, adds a soft open close option as well as power open/close, hides the bottom vents and add a few convenient shortcut buttons. I think the interior light is also brighter. Installation is easy. Four screws to remove, unplug, slide out the old one then plug and slide in the new, and 4 screws set in place. The screws are in different locations, so you need new pilot holes, but if the existing ones were loose, you don't have to fill them first. Ours were fine, but I can see that the change of placement might be intended to avoid a problem. Either way, the previous holes are hidden. My only concern is that this is the only model that fits the previous model's space. Our cabinet was built for that model and we don't have an additional 3/4 of an inch for the other new models (including a convection microwave drawer). The need to keep one this size in the lineup.

Hand's down the best microwave drawer available

This is my second purchase of the Sharp built-in microwave drawer. My first one, purchased in 2009, was white. Unfortunately white is no longer available so I settled for the stainless steel even though it does not match the rest of my appliances. Why? For one, there are a significant number of helpful functions. The functions are well marked on the display panel which is located on the outside of the microwave. It is a personal preference, but I like display/function panels on the outside of the drawer where I can see them after I’ve closed the drawer. It makes w-a-y more sense to close a drawer and easily set the function rather than memorize the function, close the door, and try to remember the sequence. As for the available pre-programed functions, I regularly use at least two thirds of them. If you forget how to use a function (for example "soften butter" or "defrost chicken") there's a cheat sheet attached to the drawer for easy reference. The clock is easy to set. The timer is easy to set. The "open" and "close" functions work smoothly. There is a handy handle to hang a kitchen towel. Most importantly for me, this Sharp microwave is considerably more powerful than others on the market – including significantly more expensive ones; which is why I opted for the Sharp in stainless and did not replace my original Sharp with a rival brand available in white. I also purchased an appliance surge protector to use with the microwave because for all its power my original Sharp microwave could not save itself from an electric power surge courtesy of ERCOT which burned the circuitry to a crisp. Lesson learned. My advice: If you live in Texas or somewhere else with an unstable electric grid, purchase an appliance surge protector. Had I made the investment to protect my first Sharp microwave drawer I'd still have it in that coveted white color.

Looks great and everything works great so far. Purchased for our kitchen remodel to put in island since my husband had to have a hood vent put in. My only complaint is that it does seem like it takes a little longer to heat up things than our over the range microwave but just need to figure out how much timing this one needs so we can adjust to that.

Product is an excellent but I would not buy at Best Buy. They have horrible Delivery & though it was paid for installation they did not install instead installer complained that he had to climb stairs so he dumped Microwave on the floor and said he will get tools from his vehicle and never returned. Best Buy promised to send refund but never sends refund. I have several follow up attempts made, I was told that someone denied credit that we promised to you but we don't inform you about denial. After several attempts, now Best Buy says it's too late to accommodate & we cannot take item back & will not refund or credit what was paid for. Customer gets screwed. Be careful about what Best Buy says and does.

This Sharp has everything we need.. although it is missing a 30 second quick button, it does have a 1 min quick start function. Looks good and frees up valuable counter space. We could have bought a regular MW and mounted under counter, but didn't want to reach down and in for everything. Controls also slant up for easy access. Everyone that sees it says they never knew there was a MW drawer. Very easy to install. Be sure to read about electrical outlet location, very specific location.

This is our first drawer microwave, so when I purchased I just bought whatever. I LOVE this microwave. The drawer rolls out and there is so much room, you can cook three times as much as a regular old microwave. It is about hip height so it is easy to clean and set times. The kids love to "cook" their own macaroni. It also as a quick start button that just automatically goes for 60 seconds, which is quick and easy. I was surprised to like a random appliance as much as I do.

Total kitchen remodel. Saw this microwave in high end homes and it does lend a high end feel to the new kitchen. We decided to spend the extra money for it. The terrible reviews I saw on this model almost scared me away from it but I had hoped Sharp had listened to the complaints and made improvements. We've used it less than a month with no issues and are pleased thus far. We get compliments on it. Bottom line, it is a microwave oven, an expensive microwave oven.

We simply love this microwave. The first one gave up after 17 years and we were happy that Sharp still makes the same with a few minor improvements. Does it perfectly heat stuff? No because there is no moving plate but it elegantly gets the job done.

Functionally speaking this is a good microwave. It has many of the features which are considered standard on higher quality units which are nice. I suggest measuring your cabinet space very carefully and reviewing the required dimensions in the installation guide before purchasing. The unit itself may fit easily into your space but you will need to have a receptacle installed for the plug and that may pose an issue.
