    Solid Microwave, Noisy-ish

I’d recommend reviewing the features list to make sure it has what you need, but it has the one-push 30-second start that I like, the easily readable blue digital display, standard “done” beep, interior light with the door open, and great power. The door pulls open as expected/normal, nothing in terms of effort was significant, but it does move a little so keep that in mind when placing it. Normal cooking noise isn’t anything surprising, BUT there is a metallic vibrating noise that is PAINFUL to hear, and I know what it is. At times when the cooking starts, the vibrating noise starts and then slowly goes away - sometimes it doesn’t. I found that if you press against the right side of the microwave’s metal housing, near the center, the noise goes away. Other than that, this is a solid microwave, and worth a look.

Don't Count on the Light or Support from Sharp

My elderly parents bought this Microwave last December and I recently found out that the internal light went out within 2 months of purchase. When my Dad called Sharp's Customer Service to see if it was covered - He was told that the light bulb was not covered under that manufacturers warranty and that they could take it to be repaired for $59.95 + Tax (Bulb + Labor) - **2 months** Unfortunately they did not purchase the Best Buy warranty. Whether it is a bulb or other issues - I would be concerned with purchasing any Sharp products - Obviously they do not stand behind their products

I used to have a Panasonic counter-top microwave oven from 2000. When it died due to user error I bought another one. This lasted only three years. I went to buy another one and it was making strange noises out of the box, with the turntable skipping to turn. That's when I decided to switch brands. I got a Hamilton Beach but took it back the same day for being too loud. I finally ended buying this Sharp which seems to be holding. It appears to me many brands are making these microwaves at the same Chinese factory. The design is very similar across and the quality is equally bad. LG seemed of good quality but the user interface is way too complicated for a microwave oven.

Bought this microwave December 2017 and have really liked it. The last month or so it is making a rattling sound as the carousel turns. It is not always but tends to happen on longer cook tines. Now the light bulb has started flashing on and off while the microwave cooks. At first I saw it and thought something was exploding but then realized it just kept going on and off like a strobe light. My microwave before this lasted about 20 years. Crazy to think that can happen with the quality of today’s products, but I certainly hope I am not going to have to replace this one soon.

After 7 years of using my microwave it was time for a replacement. I kept looking for something of 900-1000W that also had a handle to open the door. Most of the microwaves available on the market either they had very bad reviews and seemed made of bad quality or they were just too expensive for how much I intended to spend. I actually came across this Sharp model while still window shopping and I bought the last one at my local Best Buy. Well, so far so good. Very quiet, very spacious inside, love the stainless steel look. I have no complaints so far, maybe a slight annoyance that the clock is a bit too bright so at night can bother my family if we're watching tv in the living room.

    It Cooks Stuff

This microwave sends out top notch radiation that zaps my food almost instantaneously. You name it, frozen chicken, hamburgers, fries, the occasional yet-unnamed mass of something from last thanksgiving; this microwave zaps it all to warm goodness. The spinny thingy helps to make sure that the stuff inside the ample danger zone gets evenly radiated. For instance, my hot pocket does not have one frozen side and one tongue-searing, lip-blistering, cheese-boiling, pool of lava side. Thanks Best Buy for allowing me to give you my money for this Sharp Microwave!

Functional but durability is in question

It's been 9 months and the microwave gets used about 5-8 times a day. It does what it's supposed to do--i.e. heat up food. However, the interior light bulb has gone out. I was surprised to find out that it's a component that is not covered by the warranty. And it's an item that needs a technician to replace since access to it requires the casing to be removed. The light bulb in my previous microwave lasted over 10 years so that is my measuring stick. It makes me worried about what other components are not covered by the warranty.

Price paid including tax $150.87. Super nice microwave. Previous Sharp lasted 15 years so I figured to stay with this brand. Absolutely no issue with the door being hard to open or the unit sliding on counter as others have said. Nice black stainless color and I like the handle i/o the push button to open. 30-sec button gets alot of use. Haven't really tried the moisture sensor heating yet although it sounds good for re-heating. More counter space now since previous unit was much larger. But lettering is smaller so its harder to read.

Works fine but start button already cracking

Heats everything well and the auto defrost is better than most. The inside cavity is nine inches tall - that's where the space gain is - not in the width. Bought it because I wanted a handle on the door this one didn't feel as flimsy as other options. Nice looking and looks great on the shelf built into our kitchen island. But the "SATRT" button is already starting to crack - and its not heavily used. Hoping that this is not representative of poor quality with the rest of the unit. Only time will tell. Otherwise I like it. Tentatively recommended.

small turntable although it did fit the basics. even though it says it is 1100 watts it takes almost 3 minutes to boil a cup of water. generally a cup should boil in 2 minutes. it just doesn't cook as well as it should. I have granite counter tops and it does slide when opening the door. in fact it has a really lightweight (cheap) feel and sound when opening and closing the door. the handle sticking out was off putting also (at least to me). I returned it and purchased a different one.

Great microwave, but not workable for me

I purchased this microwave, because it has the touch pad functions I want and it's black, which is the color I need. It's a really nice microwave and highly recommended for anyone who doesn't share the concerns I have about it. In my case, it was unworkable because the only way to open it is to pull the handle, I found it has too much resistance when pulling the door open. I need appliances that put less stress on joints, etc. So, if that issue is a consideration for you, I suggest getting a microwave that opens more easily.

I needed to replace an old microwave and thought this one should do the trick. It definitely looks better and is a little smaller which I like. It seems to cook faster as well. Only things I'm less than happy about is that there are fewer options than my old microwave and also some confusing pre-programmed cooking options on it. At least having one person who speaks English as a first language review the documentation would have been a wise choice.

This is a good and practical microwave. It has plenty of power to quickly heat up our food. My only critique is that the buttons don't light up so it is a little hard to read text on them without adequate lighting. We just installed an over-the-counter light. We rarely use it because I just memorized which button is Time Cook. That is only button you need to know and Start of course. I do not have any problems operating this microwave though.

I purchased a microwave oven from Best Buy in March of 2018. It has worked great. It is small enough to fit in our microwave cart, yet handles everything we need a microwave for. We are a small family of four and we use it daily. Whether it is for warmiming up my oatmeal or heating up my cup of coffee this microwave is used daily. In the evening we use it to defrost dinner before we grill outside or to pop popcorn before sitting down to watch a movie.

Purchased to replace a Sharp Carousel manufactured in 1999. This model cooks slower and heats food unevenly, has a noisier carousel and a louder magnetron, especially when used on a power other than high. Unit is lightweight such that when pulling the door open, the entire unit slides forward on the counter necessitating pushing it back. Buttons on control panel are also slow to respond, often requiring more than one press to enter. Panel not backlit requiring turning on light to see buttons to program.

The thing seems to work okay, but the light went out exactly six months after purchase. I've had many microwaves before, and the light never went out, even for microwaves that were 12 or 13 years old. And of course Sharp doesn't stand behind the light bulbs. I won't buy another Sharp Microwave. Apparently us regular people are not supposed to change the lightbulb.

Beautiful microwave, quiet. Literally had to stand next to it to hear it running. Perfect size. Love the gray interior. Plus I did not want to pay an extra $200. for the GE Slate that matched my appliances. This looks great next to them. My grandson killed my old one... stuck it with a fork...

I love Best Buy and order frequently online from them so this is not a reflection on any other product they offer . Returning microwave. Two dents on inside door plastic, scratched metal plate on inside. Start button and express buttons don"t work and the right top casing has a gap so it is not secure to the inner oven part. This may just be a defective microwave.

This microwave is affordable, well sized, powerful, and easy to use. The latter does have one drawback. The quick start, i.e. just tapping 1 to 6 to start the microwave, does cause some concern if someone does not wish to automatically start the microwave immediately for 1-6 minutes. The positive side is it’s easy. The negative side is it’s too easy. Nevertheless, the quick start is only available for a maximum of 6 minutes.

So many choices; so many brands. Had the Sharp about 6 months. Works very well (so far). Not many things are built to last "forever", but this microwave seems to have been a good choice. Don't get concerned about the strange, intermittent "noises". Today's appliances ALL make "new" noises. It must be built into the "technology".
