    Excellent take on a classic

These were originally released as a BBC series last year. The stories are set in modern times, and are an interesting view on what Sherlock would have been like today. The plots are well written and interesting, and cinematography is excellent, if a bit dark at times. Acting by Benedict Cumberbatch (possibly my favorite name ever) as Sherlock and Martin Freeman as Watson are spot on. The DVD does not come with a sleeve or in a dense cardboard case as most BBC titles do, which I would have preferred. Also disappointing is that this version does not have the original non-aired pilot of "A Study in Pink", which is available on the UK version. Formatting for the three episodes is widescreen, which is not specified in the product description. Overall I am very pleased with this purchase, and cannot wait for season two to arrive stateside.

Steven Moffat has done it again.

I was very excited when I heard Steven Moffat would be helming a version of 'Sherlock,' being a fan of the famous detective - and of Moffat's work on Doctor Who. To top it off, Martin Freeman as Watson? Brilliant casting! Turns out, I was not disappointed. The writing is fast-paced, funny, & thrilling. 'Study in Pink' was a very satisfying way to begin the series, 'The Great Game was brilliant, and the 'Blind Banker,' though the weakest of the three, was still fun to watch. In addition, Freeman was not the only brilliant casting: Benedict Cumberbatch was pitch perfect as Sherlock, as was Rupert Graves as Lestrade.

A refreshing new take on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's super slueth. Taken out of Victorian England and placed in present day London, Sherlock Holmes solves grizzly crimes by making the most of modern technology such as electronic microscopes, cell phones, and computers. As eccentric as always, the new Sherlock is a welcome edition to the Conan Doyle canon. Includes 3 epidodes: A Study in Pink, The Blind Banker, The Great Game

This series was great and I can't wait for the second season. They kept the spirit of Sherlock Holmes but updated it to a modern times.
