Awesome. Fit Secure and All-Day Battery Life.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my first set of open ear headphones and they performed much better than anticipated. I find myself reaching for these Shokz Open Dot Ones almost as much as my other in-ear headphones. The design is a bit odd but very comfortable. They are so light and non-intrusive that I had them in for 6 hours the first time I used them and forgot I was wearing them on multiple occasions. The fit is secure, even when moving around and they stay secure even when I tried my hardest to dislodge them. To be clear, there aren't many headphones I've used where I could say this. These would be great for runners or even at the gym for high intensity workouts. The tap controls work great for adjusting the volume, play/pause, and even answering calls. Unfortunately, the tap and pinch controls are locked to play/pause and answer/end a call. You are able to modify the long press function and assign controls for volume, voice assistant, no function, or next/previous track. The major issue is you can only customize long press with ONE function. As of right now, there doesn't seem to be a way to have volume control and previous/next track active at the same time. This is a massive downside for me because those are the two functions I used the most but I can't assign either to the double tap or two-finger pinch actions. I think this was overlooked and Shokz should explore adding full customization to the available actions. This was my core reasoning for only giving these 4 stars. The only other issue I could see is the lid for the charing case is incredibly flimsy. I'm not having issues now but after using the case over the last week, I could see the lid failing at some point. All things considered, I really am enjoying the open ear style while still getting the same audio quality I'm used to with my other in-ear headphones.

Amazing Design!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It’s rare that I find earbuds/headphones as unique as the Shokz OpenDot One earbuds. I’ve tried other “open” earbuds before, but never had I found one so comfortable! I love the way they gently pinch the ear, stay in place, and never irritate the ear canal like other earbuds can sometimes do. The earbuds feature a truly unique design that immediately catches the eye. Everything appears to be made with high quality materials. I find them to be not only durable but also insanely comfortable for long listening sessions. The ergonomic design has a secure fit, making them perfect for extended use without any discomfort. I can’t say that for most earbuds, especially ones with such unique style! The sound quality of the Shokz OpenDot One earbuds is fantastic. The audio is clear, crisp, and balanced. Listening to music, podcasts, YouTube, or even making calls, results in an immersive experience straight out of the box. Things get even better once Dolby Audio is enabled in the app (more on that later). The bass is punchy without being overwhelming, and the mids and highs are well-defined. For me, a required feature is the ability to connect to two devices simultaneously. This is a game-changer for users who need to switch between devices seamlessly. However, it's important to note that this feature requires the use of the Shokz companion software to enable it. The software is user-friendly and enhances the overall functionality of the earbuds. The Shokz OpenDot One earbuds are a fantastic choice for anyone looking for high-quality, comfortable, and feature-rich earbuds. Their unique design and ability to connect to multiple devices make them a versatile option for various listening needs.

Fits great and stays there!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These fit well, stay in place, and sound great! That's the synopsis in short. In more detail, they fit several situations where my standard earbuds fail. I listen to a lot of podcasts/Youtube videos around the house. Usually, it's with one earbud in in case I need to listen to wife, kids, etc. and then it's necessary to pause. These allow me to multitask with no issue. I can hear it all with full sound on voice and music. They also pass the boxing test. I wore these while hitting the heavy bag, and typically, at some point, I'm prone to lose a bud, and need to take off a glove to reinsert only to do it again. I had these in position while going full-out, and they didn't move. That alone is a major win. Another point of excellence is the comfort. After the initial adjustment of "something on your ear," I can comfortably wear these around for hours. I can keep these on when not in use and forget about them until I'm reminded by an alert. I can't comment in depth on battery as I have yet to hit a recharge prompt during my daily usage. With the wireless charging case, I use them and drop them on the charger each night and have been satisfied. For the sound quality, I'm impressed. Being an open ear model, I'm not looking to directly compare them with in-ear sound as there will be trade-offs, but for the sound I'm getting from the source material I Iisten to, it is thoroughly enjoyable. Music, podcasts, movies, whatever, no complaints of hearing details or hearing the world around me. They serve a distinct purpose in my family of headphones, and they do excellent at it!

Shokz OpenDots - A Good Buy
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These are really good open earbuds. I have owned them for about 3 weeks now and here are my thoughts. Pros: -The price -Very comfortable to wear for long periods of time -Sound quality -Long battery life -Wireless charging case -Multi point pairing -Customizable sound settings Cons: -Finicky touch controls -Limited customization for touch controls I enjoy using these earbuds for extended listening sessions. They are comfortable on my ear and most times, I do not even realize that they are there. I have worn them for 8 hours straight and I did not experience any ear fatigue or pain. When my office environment is nosier than usual, I do increase the volume slightly to drown out the noise. Since these are open earbuds, I am not surprised by this. Within the app, you have the ability to change your sound settings. There are four preset settings or you can customize your own. You can turn on/off the touch controls. However, for the main touch controls, which is a single touch to the band or a single touch to the barrel, these cannot be customized. They can only be turned on/off. A long press on the top and bottom of the barrel is the only touch control that can be customized. Hopefully, with a future software update, Shokz can remedy this issue. I am not a big fan of touch controls and these are finicky at times. The limited customization of the touch controls is not ideal. Hopefully with future generations, they will have one physical button. Overall, these are really good open earbuds. They are comfortable, sound good, long lasting and stay on my ear. The multi-point connection allows seamlessly switching between two devices. The fact that I can tune the sound to how I want to hear it is nice and I love that I can pop the case on my wireless charger. These have been a joy to use.

Good open ear Earbuds with a few quirks
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. In an effort to get more healthy, I've taken up walking a few times a day. Since I started that, I've been in search of a good set of open ear buds to use on my walks. I want open ear because I want to be able to hear the world around me while for safety reasons while listening to music. The few times I tried walking with in ear buds, they blocked out too much of the world to where I couldn't hear bikes coming up behind me or cars approaching. It only took a few close calls to ditch the in-ear buds. I tried a few of the more popular open ear buds without finding one that both fit nice and allowed me to hear the world around me. I tried a pair of AR glasses with speakers and wasn't happy with them either. Bone conduction systems had terrible sound. I was thrilled to learn that Shokz had released the OpenDots headsets, so I rushed to try them out. I've used the Open Dots for two weeks now, walking a few miles every day. I can say with confidence that the sound is terrific, the battery lasts a long time, and they are sufficiently open ear that I can hear activity around me so I stay out of trouble. The best aspect has to be the sound. The stereo sound is terrific. The music sounds rich with smooth sound and sufficient base (something the bone conduction couldn't match). And the music is isolated so that only the listener can hear it (unlike the AR glasses). Shokz calls it DirectPitch, their system for preventing sound bleed outside the immediate listener. I'm not sure how revolutionary DirectPitch is, but it works. In a quiet room, with the volume up pretty high, nobody sharing the room with me could hear it. Battery life is also really impressive for buds this size. Where other products advertise 4-5 hours and maybe get 3, Shokz advertised 10 hours of performance before needing to recharge in the case. I ran with them all day a few times a week, so I don't know about 10 hours, but I did get at least 8 out of them before ending my day. I used them for teleconference meetings as well. They sounded great and the microphones worked wonderfully. The person on the other side of the call had no complaints about the sound. The quirks I mentioned in the title? There are a few. While I wouldn't call them uncomfortable to wear, they are awkward. the speaker goes in the inside of the ear and the larger barrel half goes on the outside of the ear clipping the buds into place. This works as they don't feel like they would ever fall off, but it's hard to find a comfortable position for them. Too low and it gets uncomfortable. Too high and they slide down when you walk. What makes it mroe awkward is that the touch controls are on the larger barrel AND the stalks connecting the barrel to the earpoiece. This means when you try to adjust them to find a comfortable position, your music stops/starts over and over because there is no place to grab them to adjust that doesn't set off the touch controls. It's annoying as heck with music. If you're on a call, you inevitable drop the call. I wish they had put the touch controls either on the barrels or the stalks, not both. You can use the touch controls for pay/pause, answering calls, and volume control. You can adjust the touch controls in the app and I just turned the stalk controls off. The Shockz app itself is fine. UIt gives you battery level, EQ options, and touch control personalization. I only used the app once when I set things up then forgot about it completely. Do I recommend the OpenDots? Yes. They have great sound while not isolating you from your environment. Battery life is terrific and calls on them are clear. The touch controls are finicky and the fit is awkward though, so your mileage may vary. They do the job for the task I needed them for, so I'm happy with them.

Shokz Open ear buds
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I rarely do reviews but these are amazing. I can't tolerate the in-ear noise cancelling type. I also wear glasses and typically open-ear style have clips which wrap around the outer ear. These clip on the outer edge of your ear sorta like old style clip-on earrings. But these aren't like your grandma's earrings. You can move around for your comfort zone w/o loss of sound quality. The tension is just enough to hold in place....in normal situations. W/O any sound, I forgot they were there. I was outside, gnat flying around my ear. Swatted and knocked off the earbud. Didn't notice until later and because I hadn't loaded the app yet, had to go on Easter egg hunt to find it. But what makes them stand out is the sound quality. Crisp, clear, full. You can pick up all the subtle background layers. And they're not shoved into my ear canals. All I have to do get noise cancelling is crank up the volume. The sound stays true w/o distortion. Definitely worth the extra the extra money. Connect easily. Battery life is great so far compared to others. Last note, you might want a longer charge cord with a block. Still worth it in my opinion.

Finally my search is over!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Just spent the last 4days trying out several open ear models including the Bose ultra open ear, Baseus Mc1 and Mf1 models and soundpeats pearlclip pro…for those on a budget the soundpeats pearlclip pros are the clear winner at $39 Comfortable and loud with a full bass profile they won’t disappoint. The Baseus Mc1 had the clearest sound with sharp highs and lows and decent bass but only if you are in a dead quiet environment. The bose ultra were the next model I tried and yes they were comfortable and a rich balanced sound but that’s only if you got them in the perfect position and again in a quiet environment. At 40% the noise bleed was insane everyone standing near me or that I walked by could hear it and if you are in a noisy area you need the volume at 70% at least then you might as well just play music from your phone speakers to let everybody listen along. For a $300 price tag they just didn’t justify and I found myself constantly moving them up or down to get that sweet spot for the full sound . Returned those and got shockz open one dots and these were the original ones I had been interested in and go figure they were the last ones I tried. For 199.99 I avoided them opting to try budget options first then when that wasn’t satisfying I jumped straight to Bose thinking I’ll just shell out the money and be happy..it was underwhelming so before giving up on my open ear pursuit I finally gave the shokz onedots a try. The moment I took them out they felt soft, sleek and I found myself smiling at the premium light weight feel..my hopes once again began to build. Putting them on my ears took no effort at all and were instantly comfortable. Pairing with app with sound on standard and Dolby turned on the sound was full and loud was the first thing i pleasantly noticed. I wasn’t straining to hear it and my vol was about 40percent . I was relieved to hear the bass without distortion and i didn’t have to adjust for that sweet spot either. These are amazing and what i had been searching for. Loud or low enough to hear in pretty much any environment. I vacuumed my house and still enjoyed these. Just give them a try you can always return them but I bet you won’t especially if you have tried other open end options.

A new twist on earbuds.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.TLDR: A different twist on traditional earbuds. They have better audio quality and fit than the Shokz OpenFit 2’s. PROS Lightweight & Extremely Comfortable Supports Dolby Audio & High-Resolution Audio Excellent Battery Life Better than Shokz “Flagship” Open Fit 2 CONS Mixed retention results during workouts No ANC USE The Open Dots are Shokz latest entry into their “Open” line of earbuds. Straying away from the traditional in-ear buds that most other manufacturers pursue, Shokz focuses on bone conducting models and on ear models. Unlike traditional buds that fit into the ear or over the ear, the Open Dots “clip” on to the back of your ear and hook into the ear. It feels odd when you first try them on. But, after about a minute, I found myself not ever wanting to go back to a traditional earbud that clips over the top of the ear. The Open Dots fit far better than any other clip over the ear buds have ever fit, at least for my ears and in my opinion. No matter how hard I tried, I just never could get comfortable with the clip over style buds. They never seemed secure. Not so with the Open Dots. They feel more stable and secure than many others. Like all good quality ear buds, the Open Dots support high-resolution audio playback, including Dolby Audio. My HMD Android phone immediately indicated that the Dots supported high-resolution audio immediately after pairing. Sound quality is quite good, especially if you subscribe to streaming services that offer high-resolution audio capabilities. Call quality is as good as any other earbuds on the market. Not stellar and nothing that really stands out, but on par with all the others. Wind attenuation during calls was fair, but with these buds not sitting down into the ear canal, don’t expect pristine audio during calls in the wind. I often found myself turning up the volume to compensate for wind noise intruding around the ear buds. Battery life is exceptional. The Open Dots have battery life on par with Shokz’s best buds. Even after several hours of listening to music and podcasts, there was still plenty of battery life left for a couple more hours. OUTSTANDING. The Open Dots have a much better battery life than many of Shokz’s competitors. NEGATIVES There is no active noise cancellation. If I wore ear buds while traveling only, these would NOT be my go-to ear buds. There is no way to drown out ambient noise on planes or other forms of mass transit. The Shokz app is not as refined as the competition. It is simple to use and easy to understand but also lacks integration with music streaming services that the competition does. Because of this, you are forced to switch between apps to adjust the buds or to the streaming service of your choice. The competition includes basic playback functions of your current streaming services on their landing page of their apps, and it is a convenient and welcome addition. FINAL THOUGHTS During workouts, I find the Open Dots could use just a touch more tension to stay in place, but I still like them better than any over the ear buds that I currently have. Clipping on to the ear is intuitive and convenient and is more comfortable than any other set of ear buds I’ve tried to date. The deal breaker for me is the lack of ANC. I use my earbuds a lot while traveling and these just don’t have the ability to drown out the ambient noise. To be fair to the Dots, they do a better job at isolating the listener far better than the Open Fit 2’s ever did for me, but they still let in too much outside noise. However, when I’m not traveling, I find myself reaching for Open Dots more and more and that says a lot. Call quality without wind is good and audio playback is crisp and clean, even if lacking in the bass department. Still, the Open Dots are a comfortable set of ear buds that have excellent battery life. RECOMMENDED

Surprisingly good feel and sound
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Fell in love after trying the in store demo. FEEL is great, sits in ear without pinching it or feeling like your ear canal is stuffed. Sound is surprisingly good. App allows little configuration of sound levels. NOT good if you're after noise isolation, but good overall otherwise. Battery life is great. Touch controls are limited, but functional. Quickly became my favorites. I've had to try several ear buds because some brands are far too loose, are hard to keep ear wax out of or make the ear feel stuffed. These have not fallen off my ear once in weeks. That can't be said for most of my others.

Great Concept, Huge Potential
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Shokz OpenDots One earbuds introduce a phenomenal open-ear concept and show immense potential for future improvement. Right out of the box, these earbuds look and feel premium. They come equipped with convenient wireless charging and boast an impressive 10 hours of battery life on a single charge. Both the sound quality and comfort are great for this style of earbud. Open-Ear Performance Notes As is typical with open-ear headphones, you must be mindful that the OpenDots do not carry strong bass nor do they feature active noise cancellation. This design choice prioritizes awareness over immersion. I noticed a specific quirk: I achieved the best sound quality when keeping the volume around 50% capacity. Once the volume is pushed higher, the sound tends to lose its potency. Despite these volume limitations, the OpenDots One are a great choice for working out or for daily use such as listening to music, watching videos, or enjoying podcasts, where spatial awareness is key.

Better than bose.
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These headphones are truly a heaven-sent option considering the alternatives. I love the open-ear design and the magnetic closure on the ear. They're perfectly comfortable while maintaining a good grip that's not easily broken, even during a brisk jog. They are perfectly loud with good audio quality especially when xompared to the more expensive but wildly less impressive bose open ear designed earbuds.

These are the best!
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have always struggled with earbuds, i have tried many pairs but they are always either too uncomfortable to wear for more than an hour or they constantly fall put of my ear. These stay in my ears and can wear them all day and ger ZERO ear fatigue. I even wear these while sleeping and can comfortably lay on my side. The battery life is amazing and the case is closer to the size of my okd airpods pros. These sound great also, after changing the eq setitngs on the app I cant get plenty of bass that I previously couldn’t get with other shokz earbuds. These are definitely my new favorite earbuds and I think anyone who makes the purchase will be very happy with them.

Love these
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These have became my new favorite headphones. They stay on my ear and d I nt hall out. Ive even slept with yhem on listening tk an audio book. No ear pain or discomfort and the sound quality is pretty good nice. Im able to actually use them for a full 11 hr shift at work ( i dont blast them in my ears at work ) so the battery might shorten a bit if u got them cranked up. One thing i liked is that they dont get gross cuz your not actually inserting them in your ear. But you wont get a full sound canceling effect from them (thats not what i was looking for personally with them) they are small compact i can charge them a few times before having to charge the case.

Good for glasses wearing
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love these! I can’t wear AirPods so I have been buying over the ear options, but if I lay down or put my head to the side, they are always in the way. Plus I wear glasses, so over the ear options become painful. These just clip on the outside of my ear, so no worries about pain behind the ears. At work I usually just wear one, so I can still hear if someone asks me a question. The sound is really really good even wearing just one of them. They connected easily to my phone, and they operate quite simply.

Right solution for the right user.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great solution for podcasts and YouTube video type of content. Comfort is next level. For the first time in my life I forgot I was wearing them into a store. Easy to fall asleep with them in as well. If you want this for calls, look elsewhere. The microphone is mid at best. Battery life is excellent. I knew this going in. If you are looking for audiophile sound, again look elsewhere. This does sound much better than my bone conduction Shokz, but then I have a different use case for those as well.

My new favorite ear buds.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Shokz has been known for years for making a variety of earphones and buds, and for me, one of my favorite pair of them are some bone conducting buds, that sit on instead of in your ear, allowing you to hear your surroundings while still getting good sound. The new Shokz OpenDots One buds work in a similar way, in that you can hear your music and calls and still hear your surroundings, but in this case, they clip onto your ears, so the speakers rest inside your outer ear, but do not block your inner ear canals. The OpenDots come with a pill shaped charging case that will give you several charges when fully topped up. I’ve been able to get roughly 5 hours of use using medium volume out of the pair before they show signs of of sputtering out. You just pop them back in the case to recharge and then reuse. You’ll get several more charges from the case before it needs charged itself, and you can use a short (or any) USB-C cable to charge it, or, it will also charge wirelessly, though a little slower that way. The buds fit neatly into the case. Long-pressing the button on the back puts it into Bluetooth pairing mode, and I have had no issues connecting them to my iPhone or my TV. A short press on the button will show you the battery life on the case – green, orange, or red. It would be nice to have several small lights to better let you know how much charge is in it, though. Once connected, you just clip/slide them onto the side of your ear, with the speakers resting in your outer ear area and the battery/control area semi behind your ear. In a way, they almost look like clip-on earrings (at least according to a few people who have seen them on me). They’re more comfortable than I thought they’d be. They don’t pinch, but stay secure, even when I move my head around. They haven’t slipped off at all, so I feel they are secure. Even after a few hours of wear, they aren’t uncomfortable, so long as you don’t literally lay down on your side with them in. Controls are easy. A quick guide is on the wrapper and on a small sheet included in the box. You can pinch both sides of the battery compartment a couple of times to play/pause music. Pinching and holding for a couple of seconds on the right increases the volume, and lowers it on the left. The two pinch method also works to answer a call, or you can tap the inner portion of the OpenDots twice to do the same thing. Holding the pinch on both sides will reject a call. The combinations take a few times to get the hang of, but they work well. I haven’t seen a specific water repellent rating for this model, but in general, Shokz has been known to at least be decently swear resistant, so I haven’t had any issues with that aspect of it. Sound quality is very good. A little weak with just one ear, but using both together, the sound opens up really nicely, with a good range of highs and lows. People around me say they can’t really hear anything unless I crank them up a good bit. Calls are ok. I can hear people very well, but do have to talk slightly above normal volumes in order for them to hear me. I’ve been told they can tell I’m on earbuds, but they also said I’m clear enough to get the job done. I’m giving the OpenDots One five stars, because they are not only very innovative in design, but are comfortable and work well. They may become my favorite pair of earbuds! Recommended.
