    Good, but involved

I am most recently familiar with Civ 4, and this game was quite a change. I like the new hexagonal board, and the differing civs. But some things are annoying about it, like being unable to move through a neutral unit in neutral territory. I felt like this game was so confusing, even though I'd played other Civs before, that it took several games to "get into" it.

Civ 5 is a masterpiece. If you've played any of the games from this franchise before, you'll know what to expect. The graphics are great. The number of civilizations you can choose includes many unique options. Each leader speaks in an authentic voice. If you buy this game, be prepared to stay up late playing!

    Great RTS

I love RTS games for computers! I miss Age of Empires or Empire Earth! I love those games. This one is great and has a lot of features that the others I listed don't have. So it is sort of a toss up. If you want something fun and easy (that can be more difficult if desired) then this is a great game! However if you, like me miss the live action (as in not turn based) game play then you may not like this. Also if you cheated for fun in Age of Empires (the older versions) you can't do that as easily here, you have to actually edit the game code. Over all this is a great RTS and I would recommend giving it a try at the least!

This game is excelent. It has a lot of good details and graphics. It is very real. However, sometimes there is too much information when playing the game.Overall, I will recommend this game.

The best Civ title so far. Expansive, easy to play, low stress while still being fun. Too many games focus on pushing the player to a frenzy, Civ 5 the player can casually play with friends or solo without the incessant frenzy created by other games. Love this game and the expansion!

A great game, but far too slow-paced

With rich graphics, an extensive variety of civilizations to choose from, complex and strategic gameplay, an extensive diplomacy system (especially with the Brave New World and Gods & Kings expansions), and a technology tree that's simple enough to be intuitive while being complex enough to be interesting, Civilization V has a lot to like. It also has one thing not to like: It takes forever to play. Expect to sink 6 or 8 hours into a single scenario, even if you play at one of the faster turn paces. The game is so rich you'll easily lose track of the time; but it's not a game you can easily fit into your schedule.

This is a great update of the series. You can play it on the latest touchscreen ultrabook devices. And it has included new Civs and expansion packs. You can play anyone from around the world when you sign up for Steam. Although I like to go at my own pace and play alone. The graphics are outstanding as it looks more 3D than ever in battle scenes. Ive already played many hours on this game and find it very addictive. If you like builder games then I recommend the ultimate in CIV V.

This was the first Civilization I have touched since Civ's 3. I enjoy RTS and Strategy games, from Starcraft to Total war, to board games like Risk and Settlers of Catan. What I liked about Civ 5 is the layers of complexity. You can spend hours, playing a single map and be engaged the whole time. It has a mix of RTS built into the Strategy. The game will not let you "skip" over actions of units which is nice when your empire is large, you don't forget about the one army stationed off in the middle of no where. What I did not like about Civ 5 is my own fault really. It had been so long since I had played the series that I forgot how complex it was and was a little saddened by the lack of story line.

My son and husband were fighting over this game the first few days, so we actually had to purchase another copy! They would spend hours on this and had such a great time. I would highly recommend thus for anyone who likes Risk.

I love this game. A lot of fun to play, especially if you can get some friends to play with you. This copy has all but the most recent expansion, Brave New World.

This is a good game to play as it is different each time. PLaying on easy is fun because you can really learn the game. On normal level success really depends on your civ bonus. The bame has black screen issues, but if I play with vsync turned off in window mode I am able to play about 70 percent of the time.

This product is geared to multiplayers on the net, not to individual use. When your turn is done you must wait forever for Steam (whatever that is) to figure out all the moves for the other "players". It takes so long you have time for coffee.
