Came across this phone on best Buy .. and it was like half the price that of other e-sellers. The phone speaks quality. It is a robust handset and a state of the art technology.

I like this phone pretty well. As others have stated the keys are a little small but if you take your time it's fine.

Not happy with Siemens or Best Buy

Handset did not work properly, numerous problems. Unable to even review calls. Biggest complaint is with purchase online from Best Buy. Even though this item has no services or licenses, and even though on the packing slip it says I can return it to my local Best Buy store for a refund or replacement, my local store would not refund my money and told me I would have to ship it back myself. Best Buy owes me $11 for my shipping charges.

Junk cheaply made

I purchased the Siemens Telephone because of past experiences with prior Siemens Phones. However this Model was cheaply made and felt like a Childs Toy.
Also the Handset wouldn't charge the Batteries and didn't work right out of the Box. I ended up purchasing a different brand.

Excellent product, Made in Germany

Excellent product. Made in Germany and this itself makes all the difference when compared to Made in China.
I was having an old (2007) Panasonic Cordless phone which was made in Malaysia and it was pretty good when it comes to sound quality, volume/loudness of ear piece/handset speaker volume. But since it was very old I didn't get the replacement battery for it (this didn't use AAA rechargeable). Hence need to get a new phone and to my luck all phones including new Panasonic’s, ATT etc are all now a days are made in China. I first tried same Panasonic brand’s greatest expensive model Panasonic KXTG6842B and entry model Panasonic KX-TG6512B and both of them are made in China and both of them are pathetic in-front of my 2007 Made in Malaysia Panasonic phone. Sound quality is poor, it’s not loud in both ear piece and handset speaker mode. Even worst, lot of interference when compared to my old phone (I tried in the same house/setup as in old phone). Tried others like AT&T CRL32202 which is again made in China, had quality issues and again very feeble overall volume issues. I wished I could get battery for my old instead of buying new!
But to my surprise this GIGASET-C595 (Siemens) is Made in Germany. Build quality looks very good, screen is brilliant, no interference at all (its mentioned on the phone/box/manual too), very loud & clear sound from the ear piece and handset speaker, which means all the basics are done in excellent way and I don't need anything else. More over the call log history is better & clearly represented than Panasonic (better than both new/old Panasonic)...
Highly recommended for those who love build, sound quality and user interface. Thumbs up to Made in Germany Siemens GIGASET-C595.

Watch out this unit is old!

Overall a very impressive home phone. But its also 4 years old! And Best Buy is selling it as new. Siemens doesn't make american home phones anymore. The batteries in my unit were dying within 1 day without even being used. What happens when a phone sits in a box for 4 years I suppose. So I went to Batteries Plus and picked up some new rechargable batteries and now I'm getting up to 10 days standby time. So just be aware this unit is old hence the $39.99 price vs its $100 original cost..

Great home base but needs better remote phones
Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
If all you need is one home base, then this is a great buy . . . but the cost of the remote phones is high compared to the sale price of the base unit. Also features used on the base unit (like call screening) do not always apply to the remote phones. If I apply anonymous screening on the base unit, that should always silent the remote units but not the case with this phone system. Customer service may be a challenge in resolving issues, see feedback on the remote units for examples. Approach with caution. The identical phone in a remote is considerably higher priced but there is a cheaper made phone that could be used.

If you need only one handset this is an excellent deal. It has great sound and build quality (made in Germany). The only problem is finding an additional handset for a reasonable price.

Fine if I could purchase the "expandable"part

I am sure this would be a good product but, although it is described as "expandable" and I bought it, intending to purchase two connecting phones, I have been unable to do so because they do not appear to be available either from my local Daytona Beach Best Buy store or on-line. Therefore, for me it is presently useless
