Nice security system with some flaws. When you try to add more devices, it gets stuck at “Connecting to base station”. You’d have to unplug the base unit, get a mini star screw driver and open up the bottom and take the batteries out and put them back in to be able to connect to the base unit for adding more devices. Apart from this problem, I don’t have any concerns yet. I might eventually but only time will tell!

Recently purchased, had issues connecting WiFi to camera’s but tech was able to figure out. I was very upset with the installation team as they didn’t show up on the date they we’re scheduled, poor communication and I missed a day of work, not happy with third party sub contract companies.

As our neighborhood has grown quickly with new homes and businesses moving into town during the past couple of years we decided it was time to add a whole home security system. The SimpliSafe 12 Piece Whole Home Security Kit was just what we were looking for. As the name implies, this kit supports an entire residence with multiple outdoor cameras, window/door sensors, base unit, keypad, etc. In the Box - Base Station, Keypad, 2 x Wireless Outdoor Cameras, 1 x HD Indoor Camera, 6 x Entry Sensors, 1 x Motion Sensor, Yard Signage/stickers and documentation. As we have 5 entry points on the first floor of our home, this package had more than enough sensors to cover them all. Setup - SimpliSafe couldn't make the set up process much easier. There's documentation in the kit that walks through setup as well as the SimpliSafe app that literally walks through the required steps. Once the app is downloaded create an account and follow the steps to set up the base station and associated sensors and cameras. There are QR codes on the different accessories that can be scanned to assist with adding them during setup. This package also comes with a free 30 day trial of the monitored system which can be cancelled after 30 days by calling SimpliSafe. One of the features I really like is the magnetic base on the external cameras. As the cameras are wireless it was really easy to pick spots for each camera and mount the base to the house. Then just connect the camera to the base with the magnet and you're ready to go! The outdoor camera batteries are rechargeable and SimpliSafe also offers a solar panel charger as an accessory. Another welcome feature is that most of the sensors and associated accessories are mounted with tape so there is no hardwiring the system or putting holes in your walls. It also opens up all sorts of options for installation. Using the System / Security - Once the system and service is set up the system does what it's suppose to. The cameras all functioned perfectly...including spying on our dog! The keypad is super straightforward (Home, Away and Off) and easy to use and the unique pins is a welcome feature. Multiple unique pins can be created for multiple users on the system. So far no issues at all. Pros: - Systems easily supports a large residence or business with 12 total pieces - Great build quality of base, keypad and accessories - Ease of setup and overall system configuration and use - Ability to add to the system such as water sensors or solar chargers for outdoor cameras - DIY installation and no service fees if you choose that route - SimpliSafe customer service was quick to answer the phone and my questions Cons: - Haven't come across any after a week plus of setup, tinkering and use Overall the SimpliSafe 12 Piece Whole Home Security Kit is a great value, easy to setup and use and it's expandable as needs change. It can be used free or there are 3 levels of paid monitoring services offered. A 30 day free trial is provided with purchase. I would certainly recommend this system to anyone looking to add the security of a whole home security system.

I can’t imagine a more simple setup of complete home security system than I have experienced setting this one up. Simplisafe a knocked it out of the park. When I first got the box and opened it, I was a little daunted be the prospect of setting up everything in all these little boxes! There are so many! The The system comes with a base station, 6 entry sensors, 2 outdoor wireless cameras (with rechargeable batteries), 1 indoor camera (that requires an electrical outlet), 1 motion sensor, and a keypad. Setup is a breeze. Simply download the app and it walks you through every step. You start by plugging in your base station to the wall, put your wifi password in the app, and the the app does the rest. You can pick which components you want to install and when. Most everything is Easily mounted into place with command tape except for the cameras. The outdoor cameras needed to be screw mounted and the indoor camera is on a stand which is not mountable. I found odd as I would have loved to mounted it in the upper corner of living room. As each component is activated, it pairs automatically with the base station. When you have completed with the setup, you can opt for subscription monitoring (first 30 days are free) or you can self monitor. We decided to try the deluxe plan for 30 days to see if it is worth the $30 per month price. There are cheaper plans. When everything is up and running, the base station chimes when you enter and exit doors that have sensors, and if there is an alarm, the sound will come from the base station. Because of this, we put the base station in a central part of the house. You can adjust the chime settings, alarm duration, all sorts of things in the app. We really really like the system, hope we never need it! 5 Stars!!

Want a good night’s sleep knowing your home is safe? Simplisafe is a value 24/7 security ecosystem of sensors that work with a central base station and keypad. There seems to be a sensor for everything allowing you to custom build your system. Easy to install with a minimum of wires, I especially like the outdoor cameras were battery powered. Installation is guided by a decent App. Seems everything is on a subscription these days, the good news is these come with no contract so you can change as needed and they are reasonable in price with a wide range of plans from self-monitoring ($9.99), Standard with remote Professionals monitoring your system ($18.00), and Interactive ($27.90) which includes unlimited recording and Professional will verify alarms with your cameras and inform the police for priority service. Bottom line is I like it and think this is a great way to get started in securing your home. Pros - As easy to install as possible considering all the components. - Reasonable App, clear and easy to understand. - Individual components were well packaged and seemingly well constructed. - Broad universe of different components to add on. - Connected to my network with no problem. - Reasonable subscription plans. Cons - The manual was light. Wish it spelled some things out more. Like, how long does that battery charge last? - For charging it uses micro usb cables, which is an older relatively rarer type of cable I don't usually have laying around. Haven't we all settled on USB C this decade? - Requires a subscription plan for any real functionality. Semi annoying but I get it, they provide the hardware cheap, need to make money somehow. Without a plan you can monitor the cameras, but no recording. - The app keeps trying to get you to upgrade the monthly subscription plan. See above. - It does rely on a central base station, unclear how large of a house this could cover. Tips: - Give yourself some time. Yes, it's relatively easy, but there are a lot of components that need to be positioned carefully. - Part of the ease of installation is that it comes with sticky tape, that's fine for positioning, but ultimately you will want to use the screws to make it permanent. Do take care screwing things in. They are well made but will break with enough force. - Find out if your town requires you to register and potentially pay fees for its use. Remember it can potentially call them for help. - When you set it up, be near the home base beacon. You need to put it in a central location, but also during set up there are various lights and alerts it gives to ease the process. - Its fast to set up, but take it slow and think it through, otherwise you can go 'off the reservation' and then have to fight the menus to get back. - The set up instructions on the keypad are somewhat redundant with the app, but jumping back and forth gets confusing. - Physically complete installation and test it out before starting up a subscription plan, this may cut down on false alarms. I didn't know what to expect with my first foray into Home Security, but the SimpliSafe system was easy. It's very well packaged and right on top is a card that says, get the app for set up. Unlike many such apps, I found the instructions to be clear as long as I stayed on the right path. I did stray off it once when I got to the keypad, then had to figure my way back from the App menu system. I would guess it had been originally designed with just the screen on the keypad in mind. It connected to my network no problem, the cameras worked fine and the quality was good, though sometimes I would have to retry to view them, the door censors worked, no complaints there. All in all a very positive experience and I would recommend this to anyone looking for a do it yourself home security system.

The Simplisafe 12-piece security system is designed to be a whole-home security solution. Unboxing: The Simplisafe system comes packaged in a small, neat box. Inside the box are: - 1 base station - 1 keypad - 2 outdoor cameras - 1 recording camera - 6 entry sensors - 1 motion detector The system connects with your WiFi network, and the motion detectors, door and window entry sensors are cordless. You need to download the Simplisafe smartphone app to control the security system and to set up some of the devices; you can add other devices, like the window/door entry sensors, using the keypad. The Simplisafe Home Security app was easy to find and download in the Apple iOS store. You need to register for an account and obtain an account recovery code. Then the app walks you through the system installation. Pros: - Nicely designed, attractive and compact system components. - Keypad controls are intuitive. - Keypad has a touchpad at the top of its front face; press down on the edges of the touchpad to navigate through the menus. - You can activate an alarm monitoring service if you wish, for a subscription fee. The fee is typically less than the monthly fee for traditional alarm services. - The Keypad and entry alarm devices have adhesive pads, so no tools are required for installation. - A single motion sensor can cover quite a large room with its range and viewing angles. - If you have pets, you can install the motion sensor according to the type/size of pet(s). - Outdoor security cameras are wireless and have long-lasting batteries. They shine a bright light when activated. - The indoor Simplicam has a micro USB charging port and can record activity if your alarm is triggered; this requires a monitoring plan (additional cost). - You can add devices to the system, like additional entry sensors, extra sirens, panic buttons, smoke detectors, and more (purchase separately). Cons: - The security system requires moderate technical ability to set up. Though technically capable, we had a few false starts and contacted the toll-free help line. The Simplisafe representative helped us to complete the system setup. - The Simplisafe app instructions differ from the instructions in the Owner's Manual that comes with the system. - This kit does not include a glass break sensor; you can purchase one separately at an additional cost. - This kit comes with one keypad; in larger homes you may want a second keypad.

This is a review of the Simplisafe 12 piece whole home system. First of all, the system comes packaged very neatly. The parts are in individual packaging and are very simple to unpack and organize before installation. The Simplisafe system is a wireless system. All of the sensors communicate wirelessly to the base station that should be located in a central place in the home so that each sensor can easily reach the base. With that being said, I did not have any issues with sensors reaching my base unit which is located in an upstairs room above the garage in a 3500 sq ft. home, so range is very good with the simplisafe security system. The only wires needed are to plug in the base unit and the indoor camera, the rest of the parts operate on battery power which simplisafe claims will last for years on the remote sensors. The outdoor cameras are rechargeable. Like mentioned earlier, the package I have is the 12 piece whole home system. It includes a base station, 6 door and window sensors, 2 outdoor cameras, 1 indoor camera, 1 motion sensor and yard stakes. The simplisafe system can operate in 2 different ways. In its normal operating mode, it uses your home internet to communicate with the simplisafe service. If internet is not available, simplisafe says that the system will switch to a cellular connection so that it can continue to communicate and monitor your home. Simplisafe uses an app to notify you anytime a sensor is triggered and also allows you and anyone with your app to arm and disarm the system remotely. The system works with Alexa, has a duress pin option if you are forced to disarm the system, has great range and can be monitored by a professional for a monthly fee. I am excited, because the monthly fee for simplisafe is almost exactly half of the price I am paying for my existing service. Also something to consider is that many insurance providers give a discount on renters and homeowner insurance for security systems. My insurer provides a 20% discount for having a monitored system. There are also a lot more sensors available to monitor things such as fire, flood, window breakage and others available to add to the system. The whole system seems very well made and is easy to install and also easy to setup as a monitored system with no hard pressure sales tactics. I think I will be very happy with this system for a long time.

This is a very easy solution for a home security system. Since this is a multi-piece set, I love it that it comes in a very neat package that makes each item identifiable. So I can make no mistake in figuring out what a specific box is—box for the base, box for the camera, box for the door sensors, etc. Setting up was a breeze. Seems to me, Simplisafe lives up to its name of being simple. Once I opened the app and signed up, each step and component was very easy to set up. The base was very easy to set up and connect to the internet—then it acts as a hub to get all the other peripherals connected to my system. Each item, as I add them is very well-guided in the app—such as what tabs to pull, how to place them, even the indicator feedbacks on when they have been connected, and such. Subscription is not required if I will just stay on a self-monitored system, and the options to stay on an unpaid subscription is not bad at all. Although like any other home security system, paying will give access to 24/7 protection (plus the unlimited recordings and extended warranty--- I think the unpaid is good enough for me to manage my home. To be honest, I would pay for the subscription if only my Google Home system can have more integrations—but it seems to me, the only pluses I get is a voice-activation to turn on the monitoring (I can’t voice deactivate the system). At least at the time of me writing this, it comes with a 30-day interactive subscription that I can cancel anytime. I have not tried triggering it for the police to come over. So far, all components are working well—especially that I used other branded systems prior to this. Simplisafe has the best all-in-one solution from the get-go. Motion sensors are accurate (unlike some that get triggered by random shadows…), the cameras, are very clear and very well-built, and just the design of the system itself is tasteful to place in our carefully curated living areas. Overall though, it is a straightforward system with the right amount of frills depending on the need. Besides activating the system and asking for the system status, I hope there will be more voice activated features. Other than that, so far, I think this makes it so simple to feel safe in my home.

SimpliSafe Security Kit Is Simply Marvelous!

This is my review of the SimpliSafe 12-Piece Whole Security Kit in which I give 4 out of 5 stars. The security kit comes well packaged with instruction folder atop the contents. All 12-pieces consisting of a base station, keypad, entry sensor (6), motion sensor, indoor camera, outdoor camera (2) are individually boxed and well labeled. For this DIY security system, you need to take a survey of your home for all entry points and windows. Being there are 6-entry sensors, protect all exterior doors. Any remaining entry sensors may be used to protect side windows. It is best to use the 1-motion sensor to cover a large area spanning multiple points of entry. The first outdoor camera may be used to protect your exterior front door to discourage any porch pirates and the second outdoor camera may be used to protect your driveway, garage, or exterior rear door. So you are aware, the exterior cameras require the use of 2-screws to affix the heavy magnetic base. As for the 1-indoor camera, place this as you wish. Lastly the keypad was placed near the main point of entry and base station which also doubles as a siren was placed in the kitchen. Planning the set-up of your home security takes the most time as the SimpliSafe system is very easy to install! After downloading the SimpliSafe app you simply follow the app in connecting to your WiFi. Then you install and name each device from the kit to create your perimeter of defense. What I find odd, is that the indoor camera was designed specifically not to detect pets and only triggered by human movement. I believe this was a BIG miss by SimpliSafe as those having fur-babies, like me, want to have their indoor cameras detect their pets instead of having to purchase separate pet cameras. I’m in full agreement with the motion detectors avoiding pet detection. Motion detectors are part of the security while the cameras are part of overall surveillance. With that being said, this was my reasoning for a 1-star deduction in my review score. I find the app interface very fluid and well laid out. The main screen allows for quick view of system status along with any alerts. The view of the cameras via the app have multiple settings for picture quality, motion sensitivity, night vision, and two-way audio. This system has much room for growth by adding smoke & carbon monoxide detectors, video doorbell, temperature & water sensors, key fobs, and panic buttons just to name a few. A 24/7 central monitoring interactive plan costs $0.93/day and a self-monitoring plan costs $0.33/day. I hope you enjoyed my review of this security system and it helped you in your purchasing decisions.

If you need an alarm system, you wouldn’t have the wrong choice with this Simplisafe bundle. Overall, the setup is very easy and straightforward. If you’ve never used a Simplisafe system, it’s the easiest it’s ever been now: just download the app and follow the few steps to get up and running. Included are door sensors, three total cameras, window sensors, and the keypad/base station. I wish that there were any motion sensors and a remote included, but that’s a minor thing and I knew going in. Speaking of the app, I never had any issues using it. The app isn’t bloated or anything; all the info you need is right there, and easily accessible. One note that some may not prefer is that you will need to create a Simplisafe account to start monitoring services. This is expected, but something to note is all. I wish there was a way to connect my cameras/monitoring to another alarm system. Of course, that probably won’t ever happen, but it would be nice to utilize other cameras if/when necessary. The alarm itself is quick to trigger, and you can customize a few of the settings to tweak the Home and Away modes through the app to tweak it for your needs. That little gripe aside, there’s not really much else to say about this Simplisafe system. The setup was easy, the monitoring is easy to use, my alarm worked as intended, and there are enough components included in this bundle to get give you a pretty solid protection area from the start.
