Since we last spoke, your dish was dope

Since we last spoke is the follow up to Rjd2's legendary debut, Deadringer. Many fantastic artists who do mash-ups fall into the first album curse, where nothing they make after ever competes with the original material. DJ Shadow is a prime example, and the question of Avalanches long in hiatus second work still begs the question. In Rjd2's case, this is no exception, however, Since We Last Spoke is still pretty close to greatness. Following a more electronic approach, and substituting it's predecessors more hip hop inspired style, what we get feels new and fresh, but at the same time, feels like it's missing some of the ingredients that made the first serving so delicious. My best friend Leet Larry thinks the album is better than Deadringer, but we were also both in the bathroom since we last spoke about it. The quality of this mastering is good, but not as clear and distinct as Deadringer, as the sticker on that album reads, "Remastered," and this one reads, "Reissued." It's still worth having a listen though, as it's one of his best albums. Also noteworthy, the bonus tracks are only available as digital download. I hate when they do that, you know?
