Kinda like the spiritual successor to Dead Island. Alot better though, but nothing to brag about. Same clunky combat, alot to do, and the leveling system is pretty cool.

Not as exciting as I had hoped. The summary was very interesting, but the game didn't meet the rave description. Maybe others would like it more than I did.

Techland's DyingLight is a stunner right out of the gate. After you get through the whole tutorial bit at the beginning which takes a total of about 15 minutes or so, your released into the world to go off and explore. It really is a beautiful world that Techland have been crafting here over the past couple years.
Let's talk about the Game play. Don't think they are going to hand you a gun right out of the gate, I was over 3 hours in and still my most advanced weapon was a nice shiny craftsman wrench I through a couple upgrades on. You really have to choose your fights carefully. Run out of combat stamina after only swinging your weapon a few times I found it very difficult to take out even a single zombie 1v1 at first without retreating to recharge my stamina, But once you invest in a few perks that you get really early on you can usually dispatch a couple on your own if you throw a good few hearty kicks to their face when your arms start to get tired.
And running away isn't always going to be your saving grace, you can't sprint infinitely, in fact after only about 15 seconds of jumping off of cars and vaulting your way over fences to escape you become tired. and have to rest for a good 2-3 seconds and in case you didn't know 3 seconds is very precious when your on the ground with zombies chasing you.
It gives an exhilarating rush when you get chased and surviving in this new world is a lot harsher and more deadly than any zombie survival I've played making it all the more fun. In the shortest words stay off the ground or you might find yourself a new or 20 new playmates.
When it comes to the night time gameplay there isn't much to say except it's terrifying. Cowering on a rooftop hoping those crazies don't see you trying so desperately to get back to your safe house keeping your light off trying now to attract attention and then walking into one tiny little zombie with broken knees that can't walk and says "Muraahhggg" (Translation, He looks like a twinkie, Are you a twinkie???) next thing you know every zeek around is running to find out if you truly do taste like chicken and at night you can go from safe to slaughtered in about two quarters of a second if you make the smallest mistake, these zombies are more powerful faster and smarter and it's going to take more than a little bit of parkour to keep them off of you. Run as fast as you can but they are faster and once those 15 seconds go by if you haven't lost them well... Good Night, Good Luck.
*Warning, on initial release there are some people that are having frame drops and performance issues. I have not had any problems running the game on max settings and staying at 60 frames solid with V-Sync enabled but if you do purchase the game and have these issues don't be frustrated they will come out with a patch quickly and help with this wait for a driver update from Nvidia or AMD and your good to go.
My Specs.
i7-5820k O.C. 4.6Ghz
16 Gb's 2400Mhz Quad Channel.
GTX 970 Reference Card.
Most satisfying feeling is smashing a zombies head into pudding. 100% would smash again.

This is a true step forward and up from Dead Island. If you enjoyed those titles then You will love this game. First person adventure/zombie game with some serious elements involved. The developers are still working on more content for this game. Definitely worth the money and will give you some great longevity if this is the game play style you are looking for.

The zombie genre in gaming was starting to become tired, but then Dying Light came along and breathed some life into it. Strong melee combat. Smooth ground and building traversal that makes moving from Point A to Point B a blast. Gorgeous scenery. Moody ambient sounds. Story is a bit "meh" but the gameplay is rock solid. My favorite zombie game since Left 4 Dead 2.

Traded in my Xbox One copy for this version. I use the Xbox 360 controller, so its a little slow at times but not a big deal. This game is fun and time can go by without even noticing. Add a few cheats and the game is a blast.

Not a fan of Dead Island, but between the open-world parkour mechanics
& tense night sequences, this game has me hooked. The script/dialogue is hardly serviceable.
Thankfully the thrill of surviving the day/night cycles & upgrading your skills makes up for the writing.

I had a lot of fun with this game at the beginning but after a while I thought it was a bit repetitive.
