If you are looking for a decent Karaoke system this is not it.
Hard to operate and the wi fi is so weak you have to literally place it next to your modem. Sound quality is also terrible.

Great sound, karaoke function easy, portable!

Bought it over the weekend mostly for the karaoke function. What attracted me to it: small, bluetooth, act as a speaker, portable.
For streaming music via bluetooth: Sounds great, easy setup, fills room with sound. Sounds better when it's in something like a TV stand or bookcase so the sound can bounce.
For Karaoke: Small so it's easily portable. Can use two microphones, wide selection of music. Setup your account on the web, as well as playlists (easier than typing with remote...). Good payment plans, use it for a weekend or pay for a whole year!
We brought this over to a friend's house to hang out, and it became a huge hit! Everyone loved it. Love the fact that you can unplug the HDMI, power, and put it in a bag. Gone are the huge standalone systems.
If you're thinking about this item; GET IT! You won't regret it. I use it throughout the day to listen to music.
The only negatives I have is that it had issues connecting to my wifi once in a while. Also froze up about 3 times during 2.5hrs or so. I figure the software is still early in its life, so it'll only improve. Overall the interface on the unit is clean and straightforward. If you are using the karaoke, I recommend adding to the playlists online.

I really want to like this thing. I do. We have tried everything to make it work for what we bought it for - having karaoke as something to do during parties. At night. Usually on a Saturday. This is seemingly important because the streaming karaoke FREEZES all.the.time. This makes the machine essentially unusable. I thought it was my WiFi or where I had it relative to the router (the things wifi antenna or whatever sucks). But after upgrading to a new router, making sure position is good , etc. It still froze up on us. It seems to be an issue with the streaming service itself and only seems to be an issue later in the evening, when their traffic must be highest. Can't think of any other reason why this would happen. Others have mentioned it freezing up a couple of times...with us it will start freezing up every song, quite a buzz kill if you are trying to sing along.
We have probably owed the machine too long to take back to Best Buy now...but I will certainly try to. Such a disappointment as the thing actually has potential - looks ok, sounds ok, interface is clunky but useable, etc.

Awesome home karaoke and bluetooth speaker!

I've had my Singing Machine Home karaoke and bluetooth speaker for a few weeks now and I'm very pleased with my purchase. The design and appearance of the Home speaker is very sleek, the unit has a very modern finish and looks quite stylish on my shelf.
In terms of functionality, I plugged in the unit and hooked up and HDMI cable to send video to my tv. I was immediately presented with an on screen menu to select bluetooth speaker functionality or karaoke service functionality.
Via bluetooth I began playing various songs from my iPhone and was quite impressed with the sound quality of the Home. This unit has sound quality and volume output far beyond any other bluetooth speaker I have formally used. I could use this speaker for a party at my house and easily provide loud enough tunes.
I then switched over to the karaoke side of the machine, and encountered what I would describe as an interface that is 90% there but needs a good polish on the remaining 10%. The karaoke side of things requires an account for the Singing Machine service. It was a bit slow entering in my information for wifi using the supplied microphone/input device. I would recommend using a computer to create your account , and then just logging into your Home machine with the account you created on a computer. Once logged in the variety of song categories and music browsing selections was quite broad. I was able to instantly find a ton of modern hits and clicked on them to play. After a very short buffer, music started to play and on screen images synced to the music began displaying on my tv, shortly there after lyrics were displayed and the karaoke party began! I had a few friends over and they all had a blast taking turns singing along with the machine.
Bottom line.... This is a very innovative product with great looks and even better sound quality. Once they refine the software and smooth over the little interface quirks this machine will really be a one of a kind karaoke machine. If you are looking for a bluetooth speaker, this is by far the best sounding and most powerful one I have come across and is incredibly easy to use.

So I bought this for my kids and so I can play BT audio, but the Karaoke function is addictive! I had friends over and we had a blast all night (we didn't even notice it was 4am and we were still embarrassing ourselves and laughing). When we were done, I didn't have to put it away like my old Karaoke monster - I just left it out and it's so beautiful in my living room. Sound is surprisingly good. I am not an audio expert, but my kid has a Bose wireless speaker in his room and this is just as good but cheaper + the Karaoke function. I love it. I wish the selection of songs was a little bigger and more Korean and Asian friendly. I mean.... they have Gangnam Style but it would be cool to have more Kpop.

This product looks like it was done by Bang & Olufsen, but I can actually afford it. Sound is quite good (especially for $299) and Karaoke function is so easy to use. I installed it in my living room and I no longer have to hide my party machine after each time I use it. It just becomes my stereo. Kudos to Singing Machine. I did notice that during setup, the unit can't be far from the router. You have to be within 15 feet or so, or the signal is not good enough, but if you place it close - no problem.

DONT BUY IT - technical issues

I bought 3 of these one for my family and 2 more for gifts as they looked cool.
When each of tried to set it up in 3 different households same problem occurred in each house. Spent about 30 mins with one tech guy - who was nice but could not fix it - asked to speak to a mgr and she admitted they are having this issue and cant figure it out and cant resolve it.
She suggested going to the MANUFACTURER directly and see if they could fix it. Don't waste your $$ or your time on a big doorstop. I have a household full of kids this weekend and this was supposed to be the main event - nice!

Not Ready for Release

I was never a fan of karaoke but thought this would make a great family Christmas gift. I set it up without a problem before Christmas - both the connection to my network and the song account online. Everything worked great! Occasionally during the first week of use some songs would hang but it quickly resolved itself. One day when I turned it on it just wouldn't connect to my wifi. "AP Timeout". Nothing on my network had changed and the location of the Home did not change. I repeatedly tried to connect but never could. The Singing Machine customer service manager was sympathetic and attentive but couldn't promise the problem would be resolved so I returned this to Best Buy. Too bad.

Best Party Starter and Bluetooth Speaker!

I love my Singing Machine Home! It's stylish, fits into the decor of my home, and sounds terrific. For the price, it easily meets or exceeds my $299 Bose speaker. The karaoke functionality is a great way to start a party and there's tons of selection for anyone to sing their favorite song. Subscription packages are pretty affordable too. Good value.

DO not buy this...at least not until they work out all the bugs. System would not authorize music selections. replacement machine wouldn't connect at all to the network. Apparently due to system not being compatible with doe routers!!!! Takes several days ti maybe resolve. Super frustrating and disappointing. Doesn't make for a good christmas gift just giving someone problems.
