Great for Bass, Doesn’t Live up to Its Price

I’m not a huge fan of the Crusher ANC headphones, but that is mostly due to personal preference. I think there’s a lot of people who are really going to love the sound these put out, especially the bass. They just don’t feel like they should cost as much as they do. For the money there are other headphones with better sound and better noise cancelling, but if bass is really your thing these are worth a look.
In the box you get the headphones, carrying case, a charging cable, and a 3.5mm cable. I like the case especially and it feels like it should be able to stand up to some light crushing. The build quality of the headphones is okay, but there’s a lot more plastic than I would I expect in this price range. Still, the leather on the ear cups and headband is nice and soft and overall they’re very comfortable to wear.
The sound quality is just okay. It’s not particularly clear and there isn’t very much separation between different sounds in the audio track. It’s not bad, but again I would expect it to be better at this price. The adjustable bass slider on the left ear cup does work as advertised though and adds a nice punch to the music, but anything above the halfway mark on the slider felt unnecessary to me. At the maximum setting it literally felt like they were going to vibrate off of my head. If lack of bass is a concern for you though there’s certainly nothing to worry about here.
Noise cancelling on these headphones is also just okay. There’s a noticeable hiss when no music is playing and in general it’s not as good as I’ve heard in other headphones.
I haven’t run the battery all the way down yet, but it seems to be holding up to more or less hit the 24 hours stated by Skullcandy.
Other notes:
- The buttons are nice and big and easy to find with your fingers. The play/pause button is also indented to help you differentiate it from the volume buttons. I do wish they were a little clickier though.
- I was not able to get the bass slider to work when using these wired. It appears to only work over Bluetooth.
- I couldn’t find it listed in the box or online, but my phone does show these headphones with aptX HD audio, so that’s nice to have.
- Holding your hand over the left ear cup triggers an ambient mode to let you hear your surroundings. It works fine, but I found myself accidentally turning it on a lot while adjusting the bass slider.
If these were priced a little lower I think my review would be a little kinder, but there other options around the same price that have better sound and noise cancelling. I don’t think anything matches the crazy bass these put out though.

Skull Candy Crusher ANC's Crushed It !

Got the new SkullCandy Crusher ANC Noise Cancelling Headphones and wow is about the only word I can get out, these things are amazing. I come from some other well known noise cancelling headphones so I had high expectations. The Crusher ANC’s did not disappoint.
First, the styling and quality are evident. The beautiful tan leather ear pads and soft top make these very comfortable and stylish. Controls worked great and easy to understand with the quick start guide. Interestingly, my wife called me from her car right after I had just paired them, and I popped them on my head and talked to her for a couple minutes and she said “are you on your Bluetooth?”. I replied that I was on the brand-new Crushers. She said the sound was great and I was even using the build in mic, not the included cable/mic. This is great because I can also more easily use these for work conference calls as well.
Now for the sound. This was what really blew me away. The depth of sound on these beats any other headsets I have ever had. What really enhances this is the hepatic base slider on the side. The true “feel” of the base coupled with the Noise cancelling really puts you in your own world with these, they were truly immersive.
I wanted to really test the Noise cancelling so I have an ambient sound machine we use to help sleep. I turned it up as high as it would go, which was right at 80 decibels. Typical airplane cabin noise at cruising altitude is around 85 decibels. I first had no music playing and I could only hear just a light noise in the background (similar to my other high-end NC headphones). Once I even turned Spotify on very low, I heard nothing but the music. Again, the depth of sound of these when even music at low levels is played with ANC on, completely cut out all outside sound!
I must say that these are now my primary headphones. I totally love them and would highly recommend them. I have not had any issues with battery lights. The app worked fine for me, I went through the creation of my own listening profile which is very interesting because it literally tailors sound to each ear by giving you a series of sounds to see if you hear them or not. I can notice a slight difference when I apply the profile by the app while I am using the headphones.
I have no issues or complaints at all. I have a flight I am taking next week and am actually extremely excited to use these!

These headphones are amazing! I already knew the bass was going be crazy because I own the crusher 360s but wanted more than that and these delivered. Not only was the bass better than previous crushers they are lightweight, comfortable, premium build quality, usb-c, and quick charge. These are cheaper than both the Sony’s and Bose headphones and that’s just another perk in my opinion. Skullcandy you have outdone yourselves again. These are an experience like no other headphones.

I'm not an audiophile by any means but I also tend to not be impressed by most of the stuff I come across headphone wise. I'm very picky with headphones and I constantly feel I am on the quest for MORE BASS. So it's quite rare for me to come across headphones that actually satisfy my appetite for low frequency bliss, let alone a pair that can exceed that appetite.
Enter the Crushers. This is a very fitting name. If you always feel you don't have enough bass, that will change with these. However that comes with a bit of an asterisk with I will address later.
First, the headphones mostly look and feel fantastic. The black/tan combo is just enough color to make it interesting without being too flashy. Yes they are made of plastic, which is a bummer for how much these things cost, but the plastic looks and feels very high quality so don't let that deter you. They fit very comfortably and I only get fatigue after wearing them for many hours. I have a hard time wearing most over the ear headphones for a long time so me being able to wear them for 2-3 hours is a big win.
The LEDs on the side are also a nice touch as they have 4 lights to display battery level. Just click the power button once and it will light up based on battery remaining. Huge perk to not have to turn them on to see if they need charging or not. Speaking of which, battery life is excellent. It will depend how much volume and bass you have going because these can sound like they need a lot of power to run, but they can provide hours and hours of skull melting fun no problem.
I have two gripes from a fit/finish standpoint. 1) The power button. The button feels decent enough. However, you have to push and hold to turn the headphones on or off. It's not difficult, but there is just something about how the button feels that makes me worried it's going to break after a couple years of being pushed in. I think a click switch would feel much more durable. Maybe I'm wrong but it just doesn't feel like it will hold up to hundreds of uses. 2) The bass slider (will get to its use later) is plastic. I feels cheap to slide back and forth and I have seen many reports of the inside of the slier getting scratched from use. A slider that clicked and had fixed positions would have been a better choice, although at the expense of less customizability.
The sound! First off, the sound quality of these is great! I have zero complaints and although they probably are not as good as other headphones in the price range, you are buying these for their party-trick, not for audiophile quality fidelity. The noise cancelation works well enough but again, if that's the most important thing to you, this is not the item to buy. The ANC is more of a bonus to me as it was low on my priority list. These also do have some sound-leak, so don't expect to be able to jam out max volume on the train unless everyone around you wants to join in.
The BASS. You've never experienced bass in headphones like this before. I can't compare because it blows anything else out of the water. You have a slider that can actively in real time adjust the amount of low frequency pain you want to subject your head to. I love a lot of bass and I actually keep mine around 30%-35% at most. The best part is that you can easily adjust that bass level depending on what you are using them for whether it's music, gaming, or movies. That is a HUGE pro of these headphones, being able to adjust your bass level without needing to touch an EQ in wherever you are listening from.
Here is the caveat about the bass. You know a big action movie that has a lot of CGI and it looks fake but you don't care because it's so much fun and you're just enjoying it? That's what these feel like. CGI Bass. And I don't mean that in a bad way, I just stay that to set expectations. The headphones have great bass sound-wise but a big component is that they vibrate to give you the elusion of even more bass. As much as I'd like the sound of 15" subs on both ears, that's just not practical. So, the next best option is to make the headphones feel like they have bigger speakers than they really do. Imagine that instead of having a huge sub in your house you had a smaller one and your couch had a vibration motor in it that mimicked the same sensation. For the most part, it's a similar enough effect, although not 100%.
I really would like to see this tech in more headphones. The Crushers are an over-the-top application of it, which is exactly what I wanted, but I think applying the physical sensation of bass would add some much needed depth to many other headphones. For what these headphones are, they are a bit overpriced, but if you are a bass head and listen to a lot of EDM or other bass-heavy music, you are going to have a ton of fun with these.

I have a collection of headphones, ANC and non-ANC: 4 pairs of Audio Technica (including the ATM-50MX), 3 pairs of Sennheiser, 4 pairs of AKG (before and after Samsung acquisition), B&W, Sony, and Skullcandy's own 360 special edition. I am going to list the attributes of these headphones in the order of strongest to weakest:
1. Bass. Of course... These provide user controllable, tactile, and strong bass that is the signature of Skullcandy Crusher. It sounds like it peaks from around 60hz to below 40hz, and extends to copious 30hz territory. It is very similar to the 360 but it is controlled by a physical slider instead of touch control. It works, and no other headphone manufacturers can do bass like these. If you are a bass aficionado, get these!
2. Features/ease of use. The app comes with a very abbreviated audio hearing test. Basically it blasts a series of sine wave tones at different levels (because human hearing is nonlinear and volume dependent) and equalizes a curve to compensate for your own hearing. It only works well if you follow instructions and perform this hearing test in a perfectly silent environment. It also helps if you had hearing tests in the past, so you know what to expect. These also come with Tile app so it is very convenient. Both apps worked perfectly on my Android. There are a whole bunch of standard features commonly found on all top of line ANC headphones. The instructions and location of buttons are intuitive and easy to use.
3. Comfort. If you have average sized and shaped ears, these are very comfortable and allow prolonged wear. The ear pads are made with copious amount of soft foam, which are not in your ears but surround them.
4. Portability/battery life. These come with a nice case and now it is flattened when compared to the 360, which now fits in the back of airplane seats. Battery life lasts all day, even with the bass dialed up..
5. ANC. This is the weakest link with these otherwise great headphones. It certainly works, and if compared to average ANC or models from a few years ago, the ANC is adequate. But the ANC on these a is no where at the level of the Sony WHT-X1000MX3. I have made actual, direct comparisons of all these ANC headphones on actually flights. American Airlines provided the Bose Quiet Comfort, and now B&O H9i ANC headphones for their Transcon and Tran Atlantic business and first class seats. The ANC on the Sony WHT-300MX3 beats Bose Quiet Comfort hands down. Next best ANC are the B&O Hi9 and the AKG N700NC (these canceled plane noises about the same). The ANC on these Skullcandy works, and can reduce background noise, but just don't expect miracles..
Overall, I really like these Crusher ANC headphones and will probably use them over the Sony, despite that the Sony has vast superior ANC. The sound signature, the hepatic bass, and the app with hearing test just cannot be beat...

Noise cancellation got one star because its truly is not noise canceling. You can still hear around you unless you turn it up all the way to the max which can be too much.
Sound quality is good except at times there's a random spike of noise while listening to music. It doesn't happen all the time which is why it got a 4-star. When it does happen it's only for a split second.
Battery life is very good. Lasted most of the day especially when I was traveling from Maryland to California. It will even last longer than that. I also use it for my ps5 and it last for like 6 to 8 hours on a full charge.
Overall, get it! The bass is truly amazing!

I've now purchased all ends of the spectrum of headphones, but I'll compare this to the Bose QC35 which is what this is replacing for me, and they're close enough in price.
1. App - Bose wins by default, I can't even complete the app setup on my iPhone. Check out the reviews for the Skullcandy app on iTunes - it's abysmal and was the biggest disappointment of this purchase.
2. Bluetooth connectivity - Bose wins - the QC35 announces what you're connected to and allows two connections at a time. I can listen to music through my laptop and when a call comes in I can pick it up. I can close my work laptop, and go to my home laptop and it automatically switches. I don't think Skullcandy has this ability - maybe it's built into the app?
3. Ambient Mode - Skullcandy wins by default, Bose doesn't have it - my only complaint is that it gets activated accidentally because of the touch feature - I don't get why they did it - I activate it accidentally all the time. Maybe you can disable the feature in the app, but I'll never know since the app doesn't work for me yet.
4. Noise cancellation - Bose wins hands-down. Skullcandy has some ANC, but it needs work. Bose has a noticeable cancellation with no hiss; Skullcandy has some, but there's a noticeable hiss if nothing's playing. Bose is like putting a thick downy pillow over your ear, Skullcandy is like putting a hacky sack over your ear.
5. Haptic Bass - Skullcandy wins by default. This is the sole reason why I purchased these headphones. It is all I could have wished for and more. The bass response is incredible and overall my volume is much lower since the bass is enhanced - this has to be better for my ears in the long term. Everyone I've let try it is blown away - it is really fun for movies, gaming, and music. Bose is fine, but not fun.
6. Weight - Bose wins. I never once had the pain at the top of my skull like I do after wearing the Skullcandys all day.
7. Sound - I have to give the win to Skullcandy. The haptic bass, for me, is really rounding out the listening experience. If you're just listening to classical, then go Bose; all else, Skullcandy wins.
8. Gaming - Skullcandy wins again, just because of the Haptic Bass - the thump really puts you in an immersive soundscape.
9. Battery - I haven't had them long enough, but the Skullcandys should win. I usually went two days on the Bose headphones without charging. I imagine cranking the Haptic Bass eats up power, but my experience has been that they last all day just fine.
10. Comfort - Bose wins. I don't have particularly big ears, but the Skullcandy cups just barely fit over my ears, whereas the Bose I never even thought about fit - they just fit perfectly.
I'm happy overall - I got these while they were on sale and had a rewards coupon so I paid like $165 for them. I would recommend them if you can get them for that price.

I love them! I bought these on a whim after seeing an ad on IG and going to Skullcandy's page to check them out.
I have always been a big Skullcandy fan and these have made me an even bigger one.
The sound is fantastic. The app is okay, but I cannot say I use it too much. The warranty is great too. I recently had to replace my original set because the volume up button became stuck within the housing somehow, but Skullcandy was prompt to exchange my pair for a new one.
The only thing that stinks about the exchange is I did not get a pair of Black/Tan as originally purchased -- but that's to be expected sometimes when an item is special edition or a particular colorway.
Anywho, back to the quality! The bass is out of this world! I sometimes have to turn the slider down because it's so good -- too good lol. Volume is great; I do wish I could get them up a little bit louder, but I am pretty sure all of our devices have a low maximum to protect hearing so ... it's fine I guess! But you can still drown out pretty much anything with this headset.
The battery life is also excellent! I can go weeks without charging these (I use them for a couple of hrs at night, every other night) before I get the prompt to charge them. They charge fairly quickly on USB-C, which is nice because a lot of products are using that to charge now.
They connect to my phone and iPad with no problem as well. Just overall, a great buy.
I would definitely buy it again and recommend it to others.

These have both great active and passive noise canceling abilities.
The tones on the lower end (the bass) are great.
They're great but not flawless on upper-end sounds.
They're comfortable enough to wear all day (assuming you have average ears and not a lot of piercings)
They're remarkably durable and well-made.
The 'bass you can feel' element is a nice gimmick, but it's just that -- a gimmick. All the same, it allows a level of interactivity with your music not found in typical listening devices and is something I deeply appreciate. Imagine your car vibrating from bass. Same concept, and it's not only adjustable, but optional.
These headphones charge incredibly quickly, while lasting a long time between charges, which makes them idea for long listening sessions.
Although I never collapse them, they are capable of being collapsed and come with a durable case to carry them with you, should you need to stow them away for any reason.
Despite them never cracking or breaking from the usual sort of damage, the last pair I had of these did break, but given they wouldn't turn off, play music, or charge, I'm going to assume they were just a bit defective.
I'd say they're well worth the price, but if you can get them on sale, you should.

I LOVED these headphones! The bass vibration was out of this world. And the noise cancelation was geeat for work, gaming, and study. Unfortunately, the leatherette on the earcups and headband started to sperate, exposing the cushions, and I eventually had to get rid of them. I decided to try some similarly priced Steelseries headphones, but they're just not as good and I miss my Crushers. 10/10 would recommend.

So this past year I have embarked on a journey to find the perfect sounding headphones. This is what I have discovered.
Sony Wh1000xm3 - Great all-around sound, best in class anc, not so decent bass for what I enjoy. Build quality and call quality is pretty poor.
Nuraphones - Great heavy-duty construction. Does not collapse. Very nice soundstage. Very bright. Amazing clarity, amazing immersive bass. Ok, call quality. Anc is good after the firmware update. These get extremely uncomfortable after a short hour listening session. Overall great, but the method of the way these are designed might not be for everyone's liking.
Bang & Olufsen Beoplay H9i - great build quality premium materials. Sound to me seems extremely fine-tuned to someone who might not like loud music. Very very weak on the low-end. These are really for someone who wants to listen to a softer music style.
Sennheiser Momentum 3 - Great, amazing build quality, high-end feel. Sound is awesome, Boomy bass, great mids and crisp highs. Call quality is decent after the first firmware update. A bit heavy and the exposed wires leave a lot to be desired. Overall very good headphones.
SkullCandy Crusher anc - This is my first ever Skull Crusher purchase. I am extremely impressed. I purchased these from another "chain" hence the customized exclusive color. These are built very well. The call quality is really good. The have a premium feel, plush, very comfortable ear pads. The sound is second to none. This is the sound in a pair of headphones that combines the feel and low end of the immersive low end. Crisp and bright highs and mids. The sound signature is bright, I love it. Once you run a couple of personalizations (somewhat similar to how the Nuras create a custom sound) You will be hooked on these. These come with a hardshell carrying case, a usb c cable, a 3.5mm cable. Presentation is done extremely well. SkullCandy, you are my new favorite headphones! These are similar to the Nuraphones in the way that you create a personlized sound profile. The difference is that these are very comfortable to me. SkullCandy is an amazing company and I am extremely happy with my purchase.

Head set delivers great bass and vocal clarity is good. USB-C provides fast charging and can charge while turned on. Use for movies and music to deliver lots of low frequencies. Negatives for not being tight enough over ears and heavy enough to slip off head even when adjusted. Overall 4.5 out of 5.

These things are amazing. Wearing these, I feel like I am back in the 90's and everyone has bass in their cars. It is definitely mind rattling fun. They are comfortable to wear and are light weight too. Don't worry, you can turn down the bass with a control on the headset if needed and its not just about the deep bass coming out of them, it is super clean from all frequencies from the highs to the lows. The noise cancellation is pretty good too (not the worlds best) and can be turned on and off by holding you hand over the outer part of the LH side of the headphone for a second or two. Everyone that I had try them out was mind blown and I myself was caught off guard when I tried the demo pair out. In fact, I made the purchase right there and then. Also comes with a carrying case and headphone wires (if needed).

Positive mentions
These Headphones maintain the same ultra low Bass as the Crusher 360. the noice cancelling does a good job but with the bass rumbling the ANC doesn’t really matter. They are Comfortable
Negative mentions
You only get a portion of bass when ether the ANC or the ambient mode is on. To get the maximum Bass, ANC and ambient has to be turned off. the Battery life dropped a little. When the headphones are being used wired the bass doesn’t work if the headphones are turned off. It can pnly be paired to one Device at a time.the first pair I got broke down within a week so I got another pair from Target because I wasn't Patient enough to wait. The buttons are not very tactile, as I press them it feels like they are broken.
I got them for a reasonable sale price at $300 which is ok. But overall they are Amazing

These are top-quality headphones, better than Beats, Sony, and Bose. Not only comfortable but stylish. The noise-canceling feature helps silence the world around, you while you are still able to use the headphones without the feature. The bass is booming and makes you feel like you are at a concert. 15 minutes of charge will last you the day. I recommend these headphones to anyone, I believe Skullcandy is leading the headphone game and is very underrated at an unbeatable price. Can't wait to Skullcandy has under the sleeves for their next products.

I returned my Sony xm3s for these based on the reviews I’ve read and so far, I am very pleased. They’re a lot cheaper.
The pros: they look and feel premium, the button functions are great, it uses usb c and Bluetooth 5.0. The sound is really good.
The cons: noise cancelling is no where near as good as Sony or Bose. Can only connect to one source at a time (why can Bose but not Sony or SC?!) and the tactile bass, while something I like so far, is a bit gimmicky to be honest.
I’ve loved Skullcandy in the past, but they tend not to be durable at all. Time will tell if this improved. But for just under $300, these really need to last quite awhile.
