Great wired earphones for my android phone

It works with my android phone (Type C) and it has a great bass sound; however, I could not get it to go back to a previous song with 3 clicks. It will pause, play and answer a phone call with 1 click and go to the next song with 2 clicks.

A Good Wired USB-C Earbuds Option

Skullcandy has another audio accessory release with the JIB USB-C wired ear buds. These are lightweight, have a reasonable length cable, USB-C connector, and a control button. Cable The cable is of a good length. I didn’t have any problems with the length of the cable while using the earbuds when my phone was in my pocket. The cable is made of good quality material. It’s flexible which would help me avoid pinching/kinking it. Earbuds The earbuds themselves are lightweight plastic. It’s solid enough that I won’t be worry about cracking them. They come with two sets of tips. The largest of the two fit me well. While out exercising they stayed in and didn’t have the fit loosen any. Controls The controls are simple and straightforward. One click will answer a call, play/pause music, activate voice command. Two clicks will play next track. Three clicks will play previous track. It’s a simplified to that. I would like to have seen volume up/down functionality. I would recommend to Skullcandy to add that into future iterations of the JIB. Audio Quality The quality of audio from the earbuds is surprisingly good. Music sounded good. Audio books are clear and the voice of the reader is as it should be. Not only treble in the voice but also base resulting in a pleasant audio book experience. The noise isolation of the mic is ok. Not terrible, but not great. It’s fine if I don’t have any wind hitting it, but I live near the ocean, so I have wind most days. It does well for what these are. Without wind, it picks up my voice clearly enough. Compatibility I used the JIBs with two of my mobile devices that have USB-C connectors. They worked with both with the OS of each recognizing the JIBs as an audio output option. There is no app that I had to install or configure to get them to work. The USB-C connector fit snugly, but I did notice that if I tried to move the connector to the left or right, it did shift a little to each side. It fits snug, so It isn’t going to fall out. The connection is too strong for that, but it can shift left or right a little. I don’t know if that could lead to a problem in the future. Final Thoughts I’m happy to see that Skullcandy has a hardwired earbuds option still in their lineup. I hope they keep that going. The fit is good and the audio quality is much better than I would have expected. The mic is good enough that most situations it will work well. The only negative I would say is the missing volume controls. These do not require charging and the connection doesn’t drop which are the best features of wired earbuds. I’m happy with them and they perform well for what they are. I hope Skullcandy keeps the JIBs in their line going forward.

    Skullcandy JIB USB-C Earbuds

I was excited to try out the new Skullcandy JIB USB-C earbuds. Skullcandy has a track record of making affordable yet high quality sounding headphones. The latest JIB USB-C earbuds are no exception. For a street value under $8 these are an absolute steal. Out of the box, these are no nonsense earbuds. Simply take them out of the box, select either the already connected rubber ear pads or swap them for the smaller set. I found the ones included already attached worked perfect in my ears. Plug in the USB-C cable and you're done. There is no software to install and since these are wired, no pairing needed. Simple. I found the ear pads to be extremely comfortable from the moment they were inserted into my ears. I decided to cut the grass for the first trial run. I found the noise isolation from the seal these create to be adequate and drown out the noise of the lawn mower despite not having active noise cancellation functionality. The sound was great, clean and detailed with a bit of a warm tone. I did not find these to be high range, but at $8 I did no expect them to be. They lack upper sharp/high sonic tones but I found the subtle warmer tone to be comfortable. The clarity and mid range was of high quality and rivals many more expensive offerings. The bass was clean and ample, however, much like the lack of extreme highs, these do not produce extreme lows either. Again, to be expected on $8 headphones. Overall, the sound quality is fantastic and sound is accurately reproduced for what I'd say is 80% of the spectrum. There are controls and a mic attached to the left earpiece. The mic easily picked up my voice when issuing commands to Siri or Google or while talking on the phone. They lack background noise controls, so they may pick up unwanted things if you're trying to have a phone call in a noisy area, but moderate to quiet areas these the mic handled calls without problem. When playing music, you can tap the top or bottom of the control device to repeat tracks, or double press to jump forwards or backwards. Pressing the center once will pause audio and long pressing it will activate the mic. I found it a bit obnoxious that the included "instructions" lacked any direction on how to operate these controls. It was left up to me to trial/error this myself. I also found it hard to see the L and R indications on the earbuds themselves. I actually had better luck seeing them after I took pictures than in real life. The L bud was the one with the controls on it, so remembering this going forward was easy. I also found the cable to be shorter than I would like. It's long enough to keep a phone in your pocket and comfortably connect the buds, however, if using on a laptop or computer, I found I wanted much longer distance. There is also lack of any way to bundle up the cord when not in use. The inclusion of a pouch or strap would be a nice addition. I understand these are trying to maintain a budget, but I would expect many people would need to buy something additional in order to store these properly and inclusion of this for a few $ more would have been nice. Overall, these are nice sounding bare minimum earbuds. The price to performance is extremely good value and the design of the earbuds themselves should fit comfortably in most peoples ears. There are minor tradeoffs for this price point, but ones I'm sure will be easily accepted to avoid having to spent ample more money on more expensive offerings.

Decent headphones, for kids or backup

The Skullcandy JIB USB-C's are a decent set of headphones. At first glance, the quality of the box was off-putting. The faded finish and blur reminds me much of knock off electronics in the poorly copied packages. I know packaging doesn't need to be overly fancy because its just unnecessary cost increases but at the same time, I'd like it to look nice enough to inspire confidence in that i didn't buy a dud. That being said, these don't exactly break the bank, so its not the end of the world. The earbuds themselves look fine, and the controls feel decent to operate. The problem is that they're so far up the bud, its basically resting on the side of my chin. It'd be nicer if it was a few inches lower so its more chest height as it's more intuitive to reach ffor. There are only 2 sets of ear tips, so depending on your ear holes, you may want to pop on a set from old pair if these don't fit nicely. The cords a little thin and fragile feeling, so be careful not to get it caught. The noise isolating fit is accurate. it does a pretty good job at cancelling out noise, so if you're commuting on public transport or around noisy cubicle mates at work, they'll get the job done. They're light enough that you don't notice them much and you can probably go a long amount before feeling discomfort. The audio clarity is decent enough to get the job done. The biggest plus for this is the fact that it is USB-C. so many phones now do not have an aux jack for corded headphones so you need a dongle. These are basically my backup pair of headphones for when my BT ones are dead or forgotten or if i'm doing an activity where i don't want to risk a wireless bud falling out. these would be perfect for you if any of that applies to you, or you want to get some good headphones for small kids but don't want to potentially waste money due to their carelessness of losing a bud or dropping/breaking/etc.

Decent sound marred by lesser build/functionality

I’ve had some good luck with Skullcandy products—a few of their true wireless earbuds turn in a really nice performance at a reasonable price. These earbuds, sadly, do not really continue that trend. They sound fine—maybe even pretty good—but features and functionality are just a bit lacking and build quality is only fair at best. To be fair, though, the buds DO sound good. I was surprised when I was playing games on my Ally or listening to music from my DAP how deep they seemed to dig for such feather-light earbuds. Audio was reasonably clear and carried enough “heft” that I even thought about using some EQ on my phone to trim the bass just a little. Mids and highs were...fine...hardly audiophile quality, but then that’s not really the point here anyway. They are also impossibly light not having to worry about batteries and other electronics in the bud housings, so they practically disappear in your ears once they’re in. If you’re looking for some bargain-priced earbuds for a USB-C enabled product that you wouldn’t mourn too badly if they were lost or damaged, you can certainly do a lot worse (sound and comfort-wise) than the JIB USB-C buds. It’s the rest of the package that starts to pull things off course. For starters, only two sizes of rubberized ear tips are included in the box instead of the typical three. Sizes look to match what are likely small and medium-fitting sets you might find with other in-ear buds, so those of you with larger ear canals may struggle a bit to keep these from slipping out. Cabling/wiring is of the ultra-thin variety. That’s certainly a good thing in terms of flexibility, but it doesn’t look or feel like the wires can take much stress or punishment, and once the cables separate at the splitter, the individual wires that lead to each bud feel even more alarmingly thin and fragile. There is also very limited cable strain relief at the back end of the USB-C connector. I don’t know how long these will last with constant use and cable flex, and I wouldn’t feel very confident pulling too hard on any of the wires if they became tangled up in my pocket or gym bag. And given how easily these buds can get tangled and wrapped up in things because they The inline remote is mounted on the wire leading to the left earbud. Originally, I wasn’t sure which way they were supposed to go in because I couldn’t see any convenient L/R labeling anywhere on the buds. Once I started rolling the buds around in the light, I found a stealthy L & R carved with minor relief into the vertical stems entering each bud. I guess that’s what the designers were going for because even though they are also all black, the raised Skullcandy logos on the backs of earbuds are easy to see regardless of the lighting or angle. There are no options to change even rudimentary EQ setting via the buds, nor can you adjust the volume with the inline remote/mic. This particular omission is even more irritating given the fact that the remote itself is a rocker switch that very clearly implies up/down adjustments. Instead, the elongated push-button is used for media playback controls (play/pause, track skip, voice command, and make/take phone calls) via series of taps and holds. Personally, I’ve always found tap-and-hold button combinations to be hit or miss, especially during lively or heavy activity, and I would prefer to be able to adjust and mute the volume remotely rather than having to remember yet another esoteric set of button tap patterns and holds to operate yet another electronic device—but maybe that’s just me. I tried taking a few phone calls on the JIB and was told my voice sounded a bit muffled and distant each time. I guess it's good enough in a pinch to have a mic handy, but I wouldn't want to make regular calls on them. For a low-cost set of earbuds, in the end I guess these are...remarkably okay. On a sale, it might even be worth it to grab a pair or two just to have a backup for when one of the wires inevitably splits or frays, or to keep one in your vehicle and another for workouts. They certainly aren’t offensive in any way and provide decent enough sound quality that you probably won’t feel cheated out of your money if you bought a pair, but these aren’t necessarily a set of buds I personally would reach for every day.

TL;DR: SETUP: Plug it in to the USB-C port on your phone and you’re good to listen to whatever you choose USE: You can listen to music, podcasts, etc. You can also make phone calls. There are inline buttons to control volume, mute, voice activation (like SIri), etc. USABILITY: It works well and very similarly to other wired headphones. OVERALL: They sound good. They are more base heavy. You don’t have a ton of highs or mids. I like them and feel they are a good choice for in-ear headphones. I use them as a back up to my wireless earbuds. FULL REVIEW: I was excited for the Skullcandy JIB USB-C wired earbuds. With the silicone tips, they stay in my ears very well and I don’t need to wrap the cords around my ears in case they fall out…they haven’t ever fallen out. I typically wear the mid-sized tips from most brands. The Skullcandy’s are the same. They also include a smaller tip, but not a larger one. The fit is comfortable to me. The sound is good, as well. I use wired headphones as a backup to my wireless headphones. I use a variety of wireless headphones depending on my use and activity. These will replace the other brand I was using for wired headphones. It is more bass heavy than with highs and mids. They’re not studio quality, but have a nice warm sound I appreciate. They look is good and low profile. Being black, they don’t stick out, which I prefer. The packaging is minimal. Taking out the earbuds for the first time was a bit of a hassle. The silicone tip popped off on the one earbud and the bent and tore the packaging to get the other one out more efficiently. I would have liked a carrier for it, maybe a little bag or a plastic carton. I will use something like a microfiber sunglass bag for them. Overall, I like them and recommend them. They are a good choice for an entry level wired earbuds.

Sometimes you may be in the mood for a simple and easy headphone option that doesn't require remembering to charge before leaving home and doesn't add yet another cable to what is likely already a huge collection for most people today. The Skullcandy JIB USB-C easily fits that bill. It is a simple to use option that doesn't require any app downloading to make them work with your mobile device. Simply plug into your device. I tested with my iPhone and iPad and had a message pop up confirming if I was using headphones or another accessory on first connection. Sound was fairly decent and full as long as you have both buds in your ear. They fit comfortably on the ears with the tips that were already installed but there is also a smaller pair of tips for those that may feel that the installed ones are too large. The control button is an easy to use feature that uses anywhere from 1 to 3 clicks to navigate various options (take/make calls, play/pause, previous/next track, and voice controls). Call quality is more than adequate with no complaints from the other callers about call sounding odd. Overall these are a great option for anyone wanting a simple plug and play wired headphone option.

    Reliable Headphones with Good Audio

A great pair of backup headphones when your wireless ones need a charge. It’s a pleasant experience to no have to worry about my headphones dying while on a call or playing on my Switch. Having a microphone is probably the biggest value add for me since they are the basic setup that anyone needs for a quick call or some solo gaming. I do wish the cord was a little bit longer and that the microphone created a little more quiet but that’s a small adjustment. As far as sound quality the audio can be a bit flat which makes listening to music underwhelming for me but that’s just because I have had all sorts of headphones. If you’re a parent who goes through headphones like the ones I know these are a great investment you won’t wince at if they are ruined by a little one or your significant other. I’ve actually noticed a lot of people are actually opting for wired headphones for work calls. Especially for those of you whose job it is to be on conference calls for 80% of the day. I really feel that’s when these will come in handy. Overall great for when you’re in a pinch and need something reliable.

For the price, these Skullcandy earbuds deliver excellent value. The sound is surprisingly crisp and has more bass than expected at this range. They’re lightweight and comfortable, with a USB-C plug that makes them compatible with my newer phone without needing an adapter. Perfect for everyday listening, workouts, or as a backup pair you can toss in a bag.

    Decent USB-C wired earbuds

The Skullcandy – JIB USB-C wired earbuds are good for use cases where Bluetooth earbuds are inconvenient or flat out do not work. I have had instances in crowded situations with a lot of Bluetooth devices in the area causing problems with pairing. With an old school wired pair of earbuds you do not have this problem. The earbuds connect to your USB-C port on your smartphone or tablet, instantly connecting and are not subject to interference or dropouts. The earbuds have a microphone/multifunction button on the wire about 5 inches below one of the earbuds (I did not see left/right markings on the earbuds to determine which side). The microphone is perfectly positioned to pick up your voice for use with phone calls or when holding the button to engage your device’s voice assistant. The earbuds come with two sizes of earbuds one preinstalled and the other included in the packaging. The controls are fairly simple, a single click to answer/start calls, acting as a start stop button when playing media, two quick clicks for next track and three quick clicks for previous track. Also pressing and holding engages the voice assistant on your device. Overall, these earbuds had good sound, but since they are only noise isolating, some ambient noise bleeds through. Without active noise cancellation these are not the best solution for environments with a lot of ambient noise. Overall, I think these are a step above most wired earbuds and definitely fit the bill if you have a need for wired earbuds and only have a USB-C port on your smartphone or tablet. I did not test them with other types of devices such as notebooks or desktop PC’s. My focus was all related to portable devices like smartphones and tablets (tested on my iPhone, iPad and Samsung Galaxy S24). >>> Pros: >> flawless wired connectivity >> good build quality >> alternate pair of earbud fittings included >> multifunction button/microphone block >> Skullcandy brand >> one year warranty <<< Cons << basic functionality << no active noise cancelling << only one pair of alternate size buds provided (smaller)

The Skullcandy JIB earbuds are you basic set of wired headphones with the capability to utilize usb-c. If you’re looking to have that wired headphone experience or just don’t want wireless headphones this is your set. Note this is only capable of working with usb-c devices it does not the ability to connect via a 3.5mm headphone jack. Upon first inspection they look like wired earbud that I could pick up on any shelf in the 2000/2010s. They are your standard run of the mill black earbuds. The quality of the speakers, buds and wires are mid to low quality. Nothing particularly stands out and they are super basic. I have noticed that the wires are so thin that they actually get tangled pretty easily. The speaker quality is ok but everything seems to be dull. My favorite tunes just don’t have that pop. Bass is low and everything just seems flat. They do have a switch on the wires to allow you to play, pause, skip tracks and answer calls. However I have not been able to control the volume with the control switch which is very disappointing. They do have a microphone built in though which is a plus. To be honest these will not be my go to headphones. So far I have found them useful for cutting the grass when I’m on my riding mower. I don’t have to worry about a headphone popping out and getting lost because it’s attached to my phone. I can’t give these earbuds more than 3 stars because of their quality. A little more would go a long way.

PROS: Ease of use (plug-n-play) Works with phones, tablets, handheld gaming consoles, etc. Very inexpensive CONS: Sound lacks (but that's to be expected) Only two sizes of inserts (I'd like to see at least a sm, m, and L) Skullcandy is a brand known for being both value-focused and stylish. When looking for earbuds or headphones that simply "work," affordability and functionality typically appeal to most people. As an experienced user of headphones and earbuds, I approached this product with measured expectations, and predictably, I was not blown away. That said, I don't believe Skullcandy expects users to be amazed. Their goal is to provide a solution for those of us seeking an inexpensive pair of straightforward earbuds that plug in and perform adequately for listening to music, movies, podcasts, and audiobooks. In this regard, they succeed. These earbuds are affordable and effectively get the job done. The sound quality is not remarkable, especially if you're accustomed to higher-end headphones or earbuds. While they lack deep bass, or much of any bass, really, the volume levels are adequate. Having several premium headphones I listen to regularly makes transitioning to these earbuds a bit jarring. However, these are intended for situations where sound quality isn't the top priority. As for my kids, they are not yet concerned about sound quality. It's all about ease of use. USB-C has finally become the standard for devices. Whether you own an Android phone, an Apple iPhone, or a tablet, you likely need a USB-C cord to connect your devices. This standardization simplifies things for families that own multiple brands since they can share chargers or, in this case, headphones. These earbuds are plug-and-play compatible with phones, tablets, handheld gaming consoles, or any other devices you need to connect. As a family that loves to travel, especially on long road trips, my two kids typically watch a movie each time the drive exceeds five hours. We've often faced the issue of dead batteries in Bluetooth earbuds and headphones, and no backup cord, leaving us two movies playing at once. You don't have to imagine the annoyance for everyone in the car. This pair of USB-C wired earbuds alleviates those concerns about batteries. Even if we are not overly worried about the potential downsides of Bluetooth, using wired earbuds can ease any anxieties related to that. One downside is that they come with only two sizes of ear inserts. Since everyone's ears are different, finding the perfect fit can be challenging, and having a proper seal is crucial for optimal sound quality. However, given the price point, they clearly aimed to keep things minimal. There may be third-party options available, but I'm unsure about that. All in all, I'd suggest these as an option for a no-frills, easy-to-use set of wired earbuds to accompany any child or teen's tablets or phone. It's way easier to lose a wireless earbud than it is to lose a wired one, so make it easy on yourself and choose something like this Skullcandy option, rather than a more expensive one.

I have AirPods, AirPods Pro, and Sony XM4. I didn’t have any usb-c headphones and thought these would be great to travel with. The headphones come with two different size tips, small and large. Both rubber tips didn’t fit. I could use a medium sized tip. The sound is decent and on par with the wired headphones apple used to package with their iPhones. Music sound is average. Watching YouTube and Netflix the sound is surprisingly above average for headphones at this price. The dialogue was clear. The bass was decent for the price point. The build quality is average. The wires are very thin but equivalent to other wired headphones in this price point. Similar to other wired headphones they do get tangled up pretty good in your pocket. The headphones are labeled L/R but very hard to see with my aging eyes. I didn’t use these headphones to make any calls (truthfully I rarely call anyone anymore). Because of the tip sizes they were very uncomfortable after minutes of using them. If the just put in a medium size tip I would use these as my at work headphones. No ANC so I could still hear my office mates.
