    Great Product

*Item Received Without Cost For Purpose of Evaluation and Review* The Sky Bell itself installed in minutes. It's no more than removing the old button and re attaching the two wires to the SkyBell. In order for it to work out of the box, you must have a good transformer, a working mechanical chime, a solid wifi signal, and the app installed on you Android or iPhone. You can't skip any of these requirements. If you have a digital chime, SkyBell sells the necessary adapter. Once installed, you can adjust the settings from your phone to turn the bell on or off as well as the motion detector. The video is clear and if your phone has the capability, you can take a screen shot of the video feed. *In order for the SkyBell to sync to your wifi, you must turn off your router's firewall. You can reconnect after installation is complete* It's a great product that I wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

Incredibly easy to install, works well

The SkyBell is comprised of two parts: a mount plate and the doorbell itself, which attaches to the mount plate -- a bit like the Nest thermostat. The mount plate attaches using two screws that use the same spacing as standard doorbell strike plates, so I didn't even have to drill any holes. Installation time: two minutes, and that's because I read the directions. The iOS app guides you through the configuration; first register for a free account and register your SkyBell (you need its unique ID printed on the tray inside the box or in the back of the unit), then connect to its WiFi and use the app to configure the network. I suspect the Android app makes setup even easier since on that OS apps are able to switch WiFi network themselves. Altogether, setup and configuration took me under 5 minutes. When someone rings your doorbell, you get a notification on your phone and if you answer, a live video and audio feed is displayed in the app. You can talk to the visitor by pushing the "push to talk" button. You can also run the app at any time to see who's at the door, and there is an optional motion sensor which will notify you when someone's at your doorstep for more than 10 seconds even if they don't ring the bell. The video feed is sharp, and the camera uses a wide angle (120 to 130 degrees of field of vision). + Great image quality + Incredibly easy to setup + Extremely convenient - Does not support 5GHz or 802.11n-only WiFi networks - Somewhat pricey - Does not automatically take pictures of visitors (but a future update could fix that) - As of January 2015, no interface to other home automation systems or API to other web sites (please, SkyBell, add an IFTTT channel!) I didn't expect that I'd like this doorbell so much! It's incredibly convenient and liberating to be able to have your video intercom right on your smartphone, see who's at the door and answer them from halfway across the world -- and they don't even need to know you're not home. LOVE IT!

    Worst Experience Imaginable

    1. Difficult to install. It took 3 construction professionals 90 minutes to attempt installation. They finally gave up and left it to me. I struggled with it for another 90 minutes before I called customer service, and I figured out the problem. 2. Poor customer service. A discovered that a critical part was not included in the box. Their solution? Take it back to Best Buy. Could they just send me the 25 cent part in the mail. No. Sorry, they can't. 3. Poor quality video. Once I got it hooked up, the video image was blurry. Is that my 80 year old neighbor at the door or the hot chick from across the street. I couldn't tell. 4. It stopped working. Then it suddenly stopped working the other day. Conclusion: I think this is a shoddy product with horrible customer service. I'm warning you with peace and love -if you buy this, you may find this to be a huge waste of time and money.

    "Follow Up Review Afer Install"

After spending a needless amount of unnecessary time trying to install this SkyBell device we finally did it. Afterwards however much as we tried we could not get it to link up or connect in any way, shape or form. This seemed to be a unique product and one I was wanting to have but it turns out to be nothing more than a $200 piece of junk. The senseless waste of time to install it and then not to have it wrork to me shows that the manufacturer sure didn't do their homework before offering it for sale to the general public. I expected a lot more for the money I spent on it and am very disappointed . Will not be buying another SkyBell product any time soon.......................

From my understandings it's a doorbell connected to your mobile device preferably ( iphone - ipad with IOS or android jelly bean 4.1, 4.2, 4.3, Kit Kat 4.4 or later. Nexus S, HTC One, Samsung S3 and Samsung S4 plus a free skybell account ; ) . So if visitors approach my home the doorbell alerts everyone on their connected devices and if some choose to take the bell ringing from any location rather close in home or not the bottom line is , it warns all of us at the location where at separately but at same time alert's ☺️ The smart phone as well lets you hear see and speak to the person from what ever location you and family members are at the same time . The motion sensors warns you too if some one is near by door with out them even touching it - plus includes a rotatable camera and the invisible night vision which gives me the opportunity to notice the possible stalker with out me being seen first .

    Horrible Experience

I expected my BSEE and Masters degree to help me overcome the problems I read about in other reviews. Nope. I gave up trying to set it up the first night, but was initially successful the next day. When I'm home, it seemed to work OK. Picture quality was well below what I expected, but acceptable. But when I tried it from work, the person on the porch could not hear me. Today, the inside chime has stopped working. The iOS controls don't seem to work, or maybe they are so slow that it just seems that way. I will try one last reset, and if that doesn't work (the last one did nothing), it's going back and I'll try the Ring unit instead.

    Too much static

I really want to love this thing. My AV person installed it for me, and I did the setup - very easy for this G-ma. BUT....I went outside and pushed the doorbell (disable the ring on the app or you have two ringing) and the static is so bad you really can't hear anyone speak. I will try calling them tomorrow. Holding my final opinion...

Running great from original install + 2 wks later

First, make sure you go to the Skybell web site and check out the requirements for installation which are pretty basic. I've got a 2 year old Western Digital dual band router (specs require 2.4GHz band, b/g mode, 20 MHz bandwidth and 1 mbps upload speed at your front door), I also have cable internet and an old fashioned analog "ding dong" doorbell (not digital, not wireless). The SkyBell is powered from the transformer wire used by your doorbell. You need to pay attention to wi-fi speeds from your router to the location of the doorbell (all of this is stated on the web site - READ IT!!!). In less than an hour I had this installed and up and running. Most people might miss that you can use this without a cell phone connection. I had an old off-brand Android tablet I bought for $35 that worked perfectly with the Skybell within my wireless bubble at home. My cell phone is a Moto-G and with a 3G (slow data Sprint network) connection and I was easily able to check in with "on demand" within about 5 seconds and see and hear my front porch (wind chimes moving and dinging). I actually heard my doorbell ring and answered it while riding the bus to work. Very cool and as advertised. The video quality is pretty basic, but very clear and sound worked fine both ways. Biggest problems you'll have are the universal ones with cellular coverage and strength, and network coverage and strength. Since your original doorbell rings as always no matter what, worst case scenario is the status quo. If your wireless router is far away from the doorbell, you might need to relocate it. Mine is in a closet behind 2 walls (plus the door when closed) and about 30 feet away from the SkyBell and it works fine, but your mileage may vary. I've been using it for two weeks with zero interruptions and problems. Easy 5 out of 5 stars for me.

    Failed after 9 months

I loved this bell and was happy to work through all the updates. I recommended it to all my friends and family. However after the most recent update it failed to work. I called customer service and they tried several ways to troubleshoot it and said they would send a return rma and a replacement. They have not done so and after several calls and weeks I am very frustrated. I will tell my friends and family to return it if they can. It's a great concept, but they need to stand by their product for more than 9 months.

Cannot return Skybell that does not work

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I'm on my Second Skybell and it will not work as advertised. Skybell blames Comcast's router as the problem. I've had Comcast change my router settings, even bought a wIfI Range Extender, and shortened my password to accommodate Skybell - all these steps recommended by Skybell support staff, who, by the way, provided excellent service. Now that my second Skybell will not work I want to return it and Skybell said I cannot to that. I asked Skybell techs to give me the name and address of their CEO so I could contact that person, and was told it is Skybell policy that they are not allowed to tell customers the name of the CEO. Bottom line: Once you buy it, you're stuck with it. If it doesn't work, in my case, its Comcast's fault, not theirs. This is no way to treat a customer. I am contacting the Better Business Bureau and the Federal Trade Commission today. Warning: Do not buy this product!

Skybell 2.0 fast set up and it works

I bought the original skybell almost a year ago Synching is MUCH easier with 2.0. The old synching process was not all that easy, but this is completely different. I flew through the setup in about 5 minutes. The old version 1 camera had a small view and could be maneuvered by hand into position. Again, it worked well for me but it was less than ideal. This device has a wide angle lens, so there’s was no need to adjust. The video seems clearer (although it’s still low-def) and the audio is louder. Overall, audio and video seem to have improved. The on-demand feature is definitely my favorite. it’s almost instantaneous. A huge step forward. The other significant feature improvement was the motion sensor. I highly recommend this device.

    Skybell Has Horrible Customer Service

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

My husband bought me a Skybell for Christmas after I saw one on TV and loved the idea of being able to see who is at the front door when I am home alone. The Skybell did not work after my husband installed it. It rung all the time. So my husband exchanged emails back and forth with Skybell's customer service. None of their suggestions fixed the problem. After 3 weeks of going back and forth with emails, they finally told my husband that he would have to mail the Skybell back to them at our cost. They would look at it to see if they determined that there is a problem with the system. If they determine that there is a problem, they will ship a refurnished one out to us. If they think there is no problem, they will ship the Skybell back to us. OMG - my husband paid $200 for a product that does not work and the best they can do is shipped out a refurnished one to us? And we have to pay for the shipping! I don't think so! We are so glad that he ordered the Skybell online from Best Buy. Best Buy refunded our money without any problems or issues. So buyer beware - stay away from Skybell!

This doorbell is superb! My first device came with a defect and once I exchanged it, haven't had a problem since. The latest updates have been amazing. Video is clear. Doorbell rings on my iPhone and after purchasing the digital doorbell adapter, my house doorbell works along SkyBell. Skybell has great customer support as well. They give you no hassle and they strive for you to be happy, as a customer.

We just purchased this product from Best Buy. After installing it, we could not get it to work. We tried EVERYTHING, tested everything. Had friends come over to help. Reached out to Skybell, who then said we were shipped the wrong ID code. Almost a week later, NO ONE HAS GOTTEN BACK TO US, we have tried and tried to contact customer service. We just paid $200 for a doorbell with no camera access. DO NOT BUY THIS!! We are going to return it to Best Buy this weekend.

It doesn't matter where I am (on the road or sitting in my office connected to wifi) - 90% of the time, by the time my phone can get a picture, whoever was at my door is long gone. Very frustrating!!!

This is easily the coolest thing I've ever bought for my home! The new features are continually released, which makes this product more valuable everyday. I've used about every feature, such as do not disturb (great when my wife is sleeping), motion sensing (when fedex leaves a package at the front door), call feature (check to see if anyone is by my door), etc. I can answer from my iPhone when I'm anywhere in the world (with WiFi), which makes me feel safe. This is a must have for all homeowners!

It's a very long way from my front door to my studio, and I have zero chance of hearing the doorbell. After trying several solutions I came across SKYBELL. The setup was not easy, but the support team is easy and quick to get on the phone, and very friendly. They and had me up and going quickly. Now when someone rings the bell at the front door, my iPhone lights up and I can see video of the porch, who's there and TALK to them as well. EVEN if I'm not at home. BRILLIANT!
