purchased the slingbox because my other device(vulkano) stopped working.now that i have the slingbox, i wish i would have changed sooner. much better, purchased it at bestbuy, talked with sales repr and out the door i went. with the repr. advice i was up and running within an hour. now i see all my home channels on the go on my cell & i pad.

I used to have a Slingbox Solo which did not work very well. It seemed like everytime there was a software change or update it would knock it off line. Getting it to work was a pain. Usually I could get a picture and sound but could not change channels remotely. I like the freedom of the Slingbox so I decided to buy the Slingbox 500. It was easy to set up and worked properly right from the start. When I relocated the TV and receiver to another room I had to set it up again and had no problems. I debated buying the Slingbox 350 because it was less expensive but ended up purchasing the Slingbox 500 and have no had any regrets. Also, the Slingbox 500 delivers HD to my computer or other devices. I have owned it and used it for over three months and it has been flawless.

Works great once you figure out a few tricks. i.e how to power box after being idle, how to work remote. I am able to watch my cable box at vacation home on TV as if I were home. I use Amazon Fire box because it has the sling box app included. Works great on mobile and computer too except you have to purchase the app.

Difficult setup process both cennectionwise as well as using the app properly. Once it was done (couple hours) it does what it is supposed to and works well. Internet speed does have an impact on how well it work. After setup I contacted my provider to increase my internet speed. Very happy now.

Works great and was a snap to set up. The only reason we didn't rate this a 5 is we'd like it to be able to run via HDMI vs. Component only on certain shows due to security. Would also love to have it include an HDMI to component converter in box. We had to purchase this separately.

This device will allow you to stream and control certain items from a simple interface. It also will allow passthrough video, and comes with a ir blaster. Overall a good product this will be my secondary device from along, there can be some lag while streaming and is usually caused by low upload speed, so know that if your upload mbps is below 3 mbps expect not to get hd and could get disconnects. Overall the device is a simple to use system that allows me to stream my t.v. to any other device I have in my house including my role and chrome cast. Setup is easy as plug and follow the prompts on the tv. But can be time consuming if you are setting up multiple interfaces (e.g. cable box, DVD player, security system)

This is my 3rd Slingbox product and I LOVE it!!! I love the fact that it is wireless, so I do not have to have it in the same room as the router. I love it even more because I use it with my Roku. I returned my other cable box and I can now mirror my programs from my tablet to the television without having to have another cable box!!! I paid $250.00 for this and i will more than recover it back after a year!!! The picture is shows great on my table, which is another plus!!

Pros: -Great for watching TV away from home -No monthly fees -Has a Smart TV interface -Can watch anywhere in the world you have internet -Wireless connection from Slingbox to home wi-fi is pretty good -Very few moments of lag Cons: -Must buy $15 app to watch on phone or tablet. -Slingbox viewer and viewer at home must watch the same channel on whichever TV the Slingbox is hooked up to. Best workaround is to hook up Slingbox to a secondary cable/satellite box that is not used often. -Some HD channels will not be viewable in HD due to HDCP, so far I found all of the ESPN channels and all of the HBO channels fall into this category. You will have to view these channels in Standard Definition.

I bought this product for streaming and controlling contents of my master channels DVR+. I got into trouble after resetting the box during setup process, but the customer service was good and was a relatively easy fix. The box does the job well. I was able to watch and record new shows to my another TV(through Chromecast) as well as while I am travelling in Hawaii this week. Even with a latency of pacific ocean distance, the streaming is smooth. The box is a bit pricey but is cheaper than getting a second DVR box for another TV plus the advantage of assessing my TV contents during travel.

Great way to watch tv away from home, eg, news, weather, sports, your favorite shows. No monthly fees to pay; can also use your dvr to record or play while out of town. Comes with all the cords; easy set up. I highly recommend; my second box. Stella

I found it to be a big improvement (in some ways) over the previous sling models. Setup for the Sling500 was fairly simple and menu driven via the TV screen. Video quality was excellent via computer and my tested iphone sling app (did not test any other smartphone platform). The are a few thing people may find as cons depending on your needs/view -- There is no longer a built in tv tuner, the unusual shape means this needs to set atop any stack of hardware devices (as its a twisted design and allows for little to be stacked on top of it) and finally the price seem a bit high, even for how well the device does what it does. Overall its a worth upgrade from the previous slingbox gear and works well as designed. A solid 4 out of 5 for me.

I bought this as a replacement for my Slingbox Pro-HD which finally stopped working. I noticed the picture quality improved immensely and it was buffering the videos better on my tablet. I later bought the Channel Master DVR+ and noticed I was able to record programs and view them remotely with my data plan on my tablet through the slingbox.

Glad we bought it. It works well when we aren't at home. There is a lapse of time when we change the channel, but not while watching. We have the minimum internet speed but that doesn't slow it down. We used a roku for the connection.

Bought this for when we travel we can watch our local sports and news. We were in the south last year we were unable to watch the Pats and Bruins where we were. I have only used it a few times locally but hav learned you do have to have a good internet connection.

For its intended purpose, Sling Box works well. Not so well with Amazon Fire TV, but okay with my laptop and with my Kindle Fire tablet. The most important thing is to make sure you have good internet speed on both sides of the transaction. I think I read online that HD quality requires but 1.2 Mbps on the sending and receiving ends. I know I had that much bandwidth, but still had warnings about quality at an HD level when I tried to watch on my Kindle Fire TV equipment. At the end of the day, I needed to make absolutely sure I had high quality reception at my cabin for the World Series, when I would have guests. Because of the buffering, I decided to keep my legacy systems, and use Sling Box for less demanding purposes. I therefore recommend it, but with reservations.

This is a great product and I use it often. The reason why I have it a 4 and not a 5 star is due to the apps. While watching this via a browser requires nothing more than a login and password. I use it mainly on my iPad and sometimes on my iPhone. Both iOS apps require a 15 dollar increased purchase (together 30 bucks) and I feel after making a big purchase for the product itself, these should be included. Overall when I use this in my local network it does not use internet to connect to the device so if you are placing a high demand on your internet connection (downloading or streaming something like netflix) this device uses your local network to stream freeing up your internet bandwidth. As for traveling and connecting via your cell network or free wifi (hotel or coffee shop) it is a bit slow but I think it is die to my at home upload speed. This device also requires the hdmi port for setup so if you free up an hdmi then unplug after setup it will work without the hdmi connection (after setup). I don't stream hdmi because I really have no devices that use hdmi but if I did I'm sure it would work great. Like I mentioned before you Internet upload is a big factor in off site (away from home) experience. Overall, this is a great product and I would recommend it for everyone else.

We love having the Slingbox to view our cable/DVR content anywhere/anytime. But we couldn't get it to work with the HDMI cables, just the component cables. But that's OK, picture quality is still great.

I have been considering buying a Slingbox 500 for some time to avoid paying for DIRECT TV at our second home as well as Time Warner Cable in our base home. But, since our second home only had 10 mgb internet speed, I thought the quality would not be good. Was I ever wrong. We get complete HD broadcast with very few minor pauses intransmission (no worse than we got with DIRECT TV). This has been a great purchase, and I am saving over $70 a month in DIRECT TV costs.

Before I purchased the Slingbox 500, I wasn't sure if it would perform as advertised. However, once I set it up it works like a charm. Must have good bandwidth for your internet service to work well. Easy setup and great for traveling and watching your favorite programs live.

Bought the less expensive Slingbox first- not a quality streaming picture. Returned hassle free and purchased the HDMI ready box. (sorry cannot remember model name) . Better quality streaming.
