I bought this for my son who is away at college and shares an apartment with 2 other friends. They have internet but due to the costs of ;living in an apartment they didn't get tv included. We bought the sling media along with Chromecast streaming media device. Both work great and they watch tv at school using our Directv set-up here at our home. They love it

Moved to an apartment and instead of paying for cable I was able to hook this up at my parents house and use it to watch my dvr. Definitely worth the money if you have somewhere to put it. Does need both fast upload and download internet speed.

some years ago I bought a sling box but could not get it to work. then I bought a Vulkano but eventually that was incredibly buggy and kept freezing on my ipad/iPhone when I needed it the most. Now slingbox was on sale and I bought the new one and it is incredible. easy to set up and works great on their free ipad/iPhone app very happy

Having purchased the previous version of Slingbox, this version works much better with the Wi-Fi included. The product was very easy to set up following the step-by-step instructions. System is functional in no time. Love this product.

Love this. Have been wanting one for a while and finally got one for Mother's Day. Easy to set up, small form factor. My only grips: if you want to access your DVR content on multiple devices (ie tablet and phone), you have to pay multiple times to download the app required ($14.99!). Also, if you want to watch a recording on your tablet upstairs, and someone else in the house is watching the TV/box the slingbox is hooked up to, it won't work.

I had a previous version of Slingbox and had some temporary problems setting it up. Except for the "futuristic", non-rectangular shape of the device, this new version worked well and was very easy to set up.

Works as described. Connected to cable box and now we have access to our TV shows in other rooms in the house using our local network, or when on the go using WiFi or cellular.. Picture is sharp and clear. Just to be clear, when you are at home and you use the box, it streams over your LOCAL NETWORK, which is awesome!

As noted in specs this is the top of the line model. You can allow virtually anyone to access your TV content with a proper login and loaded software which is fairly easy to load. Online picture quality is good but HD quality seems like it will also be a function of the computer you are watching from qualities and capabilities.

great way to watch my shows while I am away! I love it and it works perfectly. It connects in my ipad, ipod or computer; with a good connection you can watch it in HD.

Use this while living overseas and it is amazing! Can access DVRed shows and watch at my convince. Great product and works like a charm with Verizon FiOS!

Easy to install. I can now watch anything from my home tv on my ipad while at work (FOOTBALL). I can even watch recorded shows on my dvr. Saturdays at work now suck a little less!!!!

I use the web version and the app on my iPhone to watch. It works really well on my cellular network as well as wifi. I still have not used all the features. It's great for when I go to the gym and still want to catch my tv shows.

I recently moved to another country and can't quite let go of my US reality tv. I've hooked up my Slingbox to my parents' tv and it works great!!! The only downside is that whenever I'm using the slingbox, they have to watch what I'm watching. We've figured out a viewing schedule so it's not a problem, but it would be much better if we could all watch what we wanted even if it was at the same time.

I travel a lot for business and this has been an awesome find and purchase. My kids are away at college too and have enjoyed being able to watch their hometown shows and sports when not available on the basic cable the college dorm or apartments provide.

I have this installed at one home and play it at a vacation home. It works excellent. I use my Iphone and Apply TV to stream it to a large 65 inch TV and it's looks great in HD. It would be great if it had Netflix, but not a knock on operation of this unit.

I work a long distance from home with a separate apartment four nights a week. I use the Slingbox along with Amazon Fire to connect to my home TV service saving me $100 per month. I wish I had done this years ago. I can control my DVR from 140 miles away.!

I am a long time Slingbox owner (since ~2005) to watch my Pittsburgh Steelers, Penguins, and other favorite TV shows while on travel. Each upgrade 2008 and now in 2013 has be outstanding. The rock solid engineering and its consist reliability of this product is one of its greatest strengths. It is relatively easy to install but some basic AV understanding is helpful but not necessary. Use of the Slinbox from a laptop, computer, or mobile device is simple, the online login makes connecting the Slingbox even simpler despite a web browser add-on. The new Sling Projector has possibilities but the software maturity needs improvement on the client side. Browsing to desired storage locations for streaming media is somewhat difficult or impossible as with an Android device with an SD card containing media. The addition of an open DNLA capability would have been a natural feature which does not appear to be available. This by no means should deter anyone from this device unless DNLA or Sling Projector is of primary concern. Overall the Slingbox is an excellent device and always sparks a conversation with friends and family when I pull up live TV on my mobile device or laptop.

Both my kids are at college but are avid pro football watchers. We use Directv about six months of the year solely for there Sunday Football Package whereby we get all the games. I thought this would be a nice present for them so they could watch with me from school. I got the upper end Slingbox with remotely hooks up to your router. The setup process took longer than anticipated maybe 30 minutes. The only issue that I had was that when I indicated that I had Directv the software for Slingbox did not have the exact model of my receiver. I chose a similar model of receiver which was on the Slingbox menu and it worked fine. NOTE: The Slingfox is connected directly to your received through a hdmi connection, then the Slingbox is connected to your tv. NOTE: I am 62 and pretty computer literate and have set up many tv's and computers. If you are not particularly adapt at computers or electronics I would highly recommend seeing if Best Buy offers installation. Once installed you set up your account right through the Slingbox. Then hop in the internet and go to the Slingbox web site, type in your account name and password and within a few seconds you are watching your tv on your computer from anywhere in the world. My kids have connected there computers with a hdmi connection to there tv and say the quality of reception if better than they anticipated. On my computer quality is hd and audio excellent. Very little lag in the picture. NOTE: The first time you long onto the Slingox website you will have to download a plug in I believe it is called. This can be done on most browsers but apparently not on Opera which is what I normally use. I opened Chrome and no problem. I gave my kids my password and told them whomever gets on first has to send a "guest invitaton" to the other brother. Apparently only one administrator can be logged on at once, although I have not tried to see if two people can be. Then I think you can invite either 1 or 2 guests who apparently receive an email with a ling to log on. NOTE: If you are watching from your computer when away from home the Slingbox program allows you to see the program guide for your provider right on screen. It is extremely user friendly to change channels from your computer. However, my kids have to watch the game/games/red channel that I am watching. I don't think it is possible to us to be watching different games at the same time. Other than this, I can't really think of any negative items Highly recommend!!!!!

I have wanted a Slingbox for a while, gald i got one. It is easy to set up and get started. I just wish that the apps to use the Slingbox on various products (WDTV, Ipad, Iphone etc.) were more friendly to use, as the Slingbox. I have and would recommmend this product to anyone who wants to be able to watch their satellite or cable box anywhere in the world there is wifi. I have used it late at night when I am stuck in a stationary vehicle and found that the product preforms well, even thought the apps are not as friendly as they could be in my opinion.

I wasn't sure if or how the Sling Box works but after having used it for a month now it is truly awesome. The set up is so simple, anyone can do it and it's like having your home programing and DVR with you everywhere you go. As long as you have an internet connection you can watch your stuff on your laptop etc. I plug it into my TV and watch it on the 42" and it's no different than sitting at home. I highly recommend this device!
