Had the first generation sling box and had to upgrade. Love the ability to stream programs wherever I go. Excellent entertainment for our kids.

I originally bought this to watch football at my girlfriend's house, since she doesn't have cable. It works great streaming from my directv to my phone to her Roku and then to her tv. It sounds complicated but was really easy. The Slingplayer app is an extra $15 but a one time charge. It actually convinced me to buy a Roku for my basement and get rid of the extra $6.50 per month directv box charge. Both of our internet speeds are pretty good, so there isn't too much lag or loss of picture quality.

I love my new slingbox. It was easy to setup. It's easy to use. I love being able to watch TV where ever I am. The picture is great.

I had purchased an Apple TV to use for streaming from my Slingbox and found out afterward that you can only stream through a computer, tablet or phone to the Apple TV. Further research found the Amazon Fire TV has a native Sling Media App and I can use it without another device. Additionally, I find the interface and choices of App's much more user-friendly and complete than the Apple TV. This is a great buy - in fact this is the second one I purchased - for my second TV!

I wanted this so I could watch my dvr recorded shows while away from home, although a bonus is also being able to watch my live TV channels too! Love it! L

The setup is is much easier than the Solo or Pro-HD. It only takes 5-10 minutes, using the on screen setup. Unfortunately the HDMI setup still requires the use of component cables along with the HDMI cables. Unlike the Pro-HD this slingbox is restricted to only one source. I also ran into a problem when I went to connect with my TiVo premium via the Slingbox 500 using the Facebook application. It would not display the TiVo remote and instead I got a generic remote, thus making it next to impossible to watch any of my recorded shows. I like the option of viewing my photos that are on my iPhone, but the Slingbox still hasn't updated the mobile app's so video from the iPad/iPhone can be viewed too. One last plus is being able to connect to the Slingbox using a wi-fi connection instead of using long Ethernet cables.

Purchased my second Sling box for TV service in my second home. Not always there but when we are we can be watching our service back home that is readily available. This is my second Sling box the other is at my parents home in NJ which allows me to watch EAGLES games without some special subscription. Sling saves you money!

The slinbox 500 with WiFi was so easy to setup and use...there really was nothing to it. Very convenient with the WiFi as a hard line is not needed. My boss used it from his IPad on the beach in Cayman Islands to watch a Penguins hockey game and it was very good quality! I recommend this for anyone on the road a lot.

I use my slingbox to remotely access my subscription services and my DVR recording. I get HD quality service at all remote locations. The setup was easy and just took minutes to complete.

Product was packaged nicely and came with helpful instructions. It appears to work well, although it did not work for me. We subscribe to Xfinity X1 and for our particular cable box (note: there are many different kinds!!!!), there did not appear to be a downloadable remote control. That was very frustrating. So, other than not having the capability to change channels, we did try the unit long distance (cable box in PA to cell phone in VA) and it worked like a charm. I have little doubt that had we been able to download the proper Xfinity remote control, we would be using the unit. And note, despite any claims by Xfinity that with their app, you can watch any channel to which you subscribe while you are "on the go," that simply is not so. There are many Xfinity channels that you cannot watch, evidenced by a message that says "this channel may only be viewed on your home wifi." I was impressed by the Slingbox 500 and wish we could have made it work for us. It is a good product, slick, well-made and delivers on what it promises.

I purchased this after my Belkin @TV quit working. I've been happier with this device than I was with the Belkin receiver. I have great picture and the IR blaster works well when I'm away.

The product works as advertised and have had no issues directly caused by the box itself. It was very easy to install and has worked like a charm, I use it all the time when I'm travelling. You may run into issues with the hdmi signal being scrambled, this can be bypassed using a repeater and make sure you have sufficient upstream bandwidth where you install to ensure great image quality and minimize buffering.

I use it up north hooked up to my tv. I do not have cable at the cottage. It's like sitting at home watching tv. I have nothing bad to say.

Been using Slingbox products for the past seven years. Got a good price on this unit to upgrade from my Slingbox Pro. The main feature I wanted was the visual interface that this unit provides (all the previous units had you go through a website). The only downside is if you want to access your Sling video streams from apps on your phone and tablet that you have to pay more ($15).

Was worried about the sling's performance using hotel WiFi networks. But it's performed great, just had to turn off the "time shift buffer" on one really poor network (feature allows backing up and moving forward in a show). The real surprise was the the main user is my wife. She uses it to watch shows on DirectTV channels not available at most hotels from her laptop.

Easy and quick setup. Looks like not enough DVD recorder remotes supported. I could not get Slingbox remote to control my Magnavox or JVC DVD recorders. Stuck to watching only one channel from remote locations with either recorder.

Had one of these on my daughters DVR for while when I was in the Middle East. It worked very well and avoided local censorship.

Cool idea but sometimes the connection isn't great. For the price I payed I would expect better connection

We live in a rural area and must rely on one of the satellite companies. Relatives in another part of the state told us about sling box and how we could dump the satellite and still watch live tv. After hooking up the sling box on their end and connecting my 55" Samsung to my computer, we are watching live tv and saving $150.00 a month! I would love to give Slingbox 5 stars but we do have a few minor issues including the disappearing on screen remote.
