Large improvement over previous unit. I use this with my Samsung Galaxy Note3 and get a very clear picture. A lot easy to install than previous unit.

Before leaving for my place in paradise (Naples, FL) for the winter,, I bought and installed my Slingbox to my Xfinity box in Michigan. When I arrived in Naples I signed up for the high speed Internet package only. I installed a Fire Stick on my smart TV and away I went. I am steaming my HD triple play programs from Michigan live to Florida. So I see my HBO and Starz movies, my sports channels, music charnnels and I can can use and view my DVR. Life is wonderful! I pay my monthly bill in Michigan 12 months a year without interruption and I have Internet only in Florida for my email and Netflix, Amozon Prime and my Sling box.

After 50+ years of being a dedicated "cheesehead", I recently moved from Wisconsin to northwestern Iowa due to a change in jobs. The idea of not being able to see my beloved Brewers, Packers, Badgers and Marquette Warriors (sorry...I can't accept the Golden Eagles moniker) was intolerable. The Slingbox 500 was a perfect solution. I hooked it up to one of my cable boxes back in Wisconsin, and now I can view all my TWC programming in HD on my laptop. The Slingbox has become my "lifeline" back to my home state of Wisconsin. I don't know what I'd do without it!

This machine is slick and is extremely easy to use. Tried to set it up connecting to older tv that has mostof our dvr shows with no hdmi connection and it couldn't be done. I know, I know, get a newer TV. So anyways, I set it up on a newer tv. Then moved the slingbox to the older tv (with no hdmi) and plugged it in. BAM! Works beautifully. Easy to understand instructions, great functionality. Glad I went with the 500. The remote doesnt show on the kindle or phone so it is harder to control but using a PC you can see the remote and control the tv like you would at home. Very happy with this purchase. $299 is a little high but I would still do it again and pick the 500 model.

Their Slingbox works well, but it doesn’t allow for HD viewing due to HDMI protection issues. Once you have it set up it’s nice to be able to view your shows anywhere in the world!

This is a great product. There are a couple of problems.... You can't watch it on the same tv as someone at your house and change the channel or you will change the channel at the house. The wifi is little slow. It's a gr at buy for sports and watching tv on vacation. I LOVE IT!!!

Access to all my home cable subscription content from another location allows me to drop a 2nd cable subscription in another city. Good savings.

I considered the lower end option, but did not want to run a cable across the living room, so I went with this wireless model. It was easy to set up and allows me to watch my favorite teams play even when I am traveling internationally. I like the guest account feature as well. The only drawbacks are having to pay for app for tablet or smartphone. As I usually travel with business laptop which I am restricted from loading the Slingplayer software on, l need to travel with tablet as well.

I work alone in an area with no reception to radio or TV so this is perfect since all you need is WIFI. I will always be able to be aware of world and local events as they happen. I use the Slingbox on my SmartPhone and the picture is great! Also have all my premium pay channels and DVR right at my fingertips anytime!

I have always wanted one of these boxes but I was waiting for one with a wifi option. This model also has uses a 5ghz wifi which is much fast than 2.4ghz. I use this while I'm on the road with my mobile hotspot on my phone on standard quality which is okay. All in all this is still an amazing product and I would buy it again in a heartbeat. The biggest hangup I had was the price of the unit and each individual app install on a smart device... unless you know a work around which means you get the $15 paid app for FREE.

The Slingbox works extremely well. It was a little pricey but it was worth it for me to have the ability to watch all of my home programming including DVR content on my mobile devices.

Great for watching sports shows when I go out of state, away from my home. Set up was a bit ugly as HDMI did not work. Had to also go to Time Warner to get an updated cable box. Working well now.

The slingbox works just as it says it will. Traveling we can watch our service that we have at our home. We don't miss any of our favorite shows and if they are on our DVR we don't have to worry about time changes.

The picture isn't HD quality but is still fine to watch football games or other things that interest you.

I have Direct TV at home. Now my entire DVR list as well as live TV are available to me on my iPad and Samsung Note 2 anywhere there is WIFI. Quality of picture is excellent. The 500 lets you hook the box up via Ethernet or WIFI. Many other features for showing pics on your devices on your home TV and using a flash drive for storage or showing photo's from them. Great for long waits at Airports, Doctor's Offices, etc. When traveling many locations have limited channels.... No longer an issue. Watch local sports, news, games, etc. when on the road. All great stuff. Note: Apps are 15.00 each per remote device. No other fees...

Let me start by stating that this product is great idea. However, due to cable companies, this product doesn't work very well, or even at all. I had the newest box from Xfinity that had only an HDMI out. I got this thinking I can only use the HDMI, but the manual recommended that both the HDMI and the component cable is used due to the cable company blocking HDMI signals from time to time, forcing me to restart the box. I tried anyways to see how often, if any, the box decides it needs a reboot. However, what killed it for me was that I had a box so new that Slingbox couldn't even properly connect. I did get TV slung to one of my devices, however I could not change the channel or control my cable box at all. I'm not necessarily blaming Slingbox here, though they should do their due diligence in ensuring that new cable boxes are covered by their products. The biggest blame is to the cable companies, whose greed forcibly makes their customers only use the products that they want them to use. Which is why I not only returned this product, but I also cancelled my cable subscription with Xfinity. If only Google provided internet to my area, I would cut sling with Xfinity all together. They honestly don't deserve my business.

During setup, my unit locked up and I couldn't register the unit. Sling only offers help-for-a-fee if you're not already registered. So had to dig out and send picture of receipt, followed by delay while they processed it. Later, customer service recommended resetting, which meant I needed to re-download a huge update - took another hour over broadband/Ethernet cable. So spent about four hours just to get going. That process needs to be fixed. Otherwise, customer service was great, and the service usually worked well from iPhone, iPad, and Mac; I used it about 10 hours over 3 week period. Picture did hang for short periods a handful of times; one time didn't work even after 20 minutes of trying. Also, picture lost sharp hd-like focus about 30% of the time; this comes and goes, even on broadband w/wifi - not sure how to fix that. The UI, which imitates the cable remote, is a bit cumbersome to use. So great idea, but still needs better execution. Maybe by next year.

The employees at the Altoona, PA store recommended this product when I asked what I should get and it was exactly what we needed. It works great and we love it!

I bought the slingbox 500 to use in a second home. We have the highest internet speed available in both homes. There is still a lot of lag time when watching tv and the remote settings off the app are horrible. It is also ridiculous that you have to purchase the app after buying the sling box. The free app wouldn't work at all so they get you.

The price is a little high but its something that you wont regret. Its tv everywhere you go with great quality. I recommend this product especially for people with larger phone because it's only logical. App is not great but it's not terrible. Buy it! its expensive but its totally worth it you'll be telling yourself why didn't I buy it earlier.
